Expert Silverfish Control You Can Trust
Silverfish are quiet, nocturnal and slow to build, which is exactly why most people only discover them once something valuable has been ruined - a wedding album, a stored christening gown, the spines of a book collection or the labels off everything in the linen press.
They feed on starch and cellulose, and they thrive wherever it is dark, still and humid. Effective control means treating the harbourage they actually live in - roof voids, wall cavities, wardrobe backs, sub-floors and behind skirting - not the room where you happened to see one.
- Thorough inspection & fixed-price quote
- Targeted, safe and effective treatment
- Prevention advice to stop it returning
- Follow-up and 6-month warranty included
What We Treat
Our licensed technicians are trained across every variety you're likely to encounter in Sydney.

Common Silverfish
The familiar carrot-shaped, metallic grey insect found in bathrooms, wardrobes and bookshelves throughout Sydney homes.

Grey Silverfish
Larger and more tolerant of dry conditions, so it spreads well beyond damp rooms and often reaches roof voids and storage boxes.

Four-Lined Silverfish
Recognised by dark stripes along the back, usually associated with roof voids, bird nests and accumulated organic debris.

Firebrat
A close relative that prefers genuine heat, turning up around hot water services, ovens, boiler rooms and warm service ducts.

Paper Silverfish
Strongly associated with stored paper, cardboard and archived documents, making it a recurring problem in offices and storage units.

Australian Silverfish
A native species that moves indoors from bark, leaf litter and garden debris, particularly in leafy and bushland-fringe suburbs.
Know the Warning Signs
Spotting the problem early makes treatment faster, easier and far less costly.
Irregular Holes in Paper
Ragged notches and surface grazing on books, wallpaper, photographs and stored documents rather than clean punched holes.
Yellow Staining on Fabric
Yellowish marks and small holes in stored linen, cotton and silk, usually discovered when seasonal items come back out.
Shed Skins and Scales
Fine, translucent cast skins and a dusting of tiny silver scales in drawers, on shelving and along cupboard edges.
Live Sightings at Night
Fast, wriggling insects that dart for cover when a bathroom or laundry light is switched on after dark.
Peppery Droppings
Tiny black pellets resembling coarse pepper in wardrobes, on shelves and inside stored boxes.
Damaged Wallpaper Seams
Lifting or grazed wallpaper edges where the paste behind provides an ideal starch food source.

Why Silverfish Control Can't Wait
Irreplaceable Damage
Silverfish destroy photographs, certificates, books and heirloom textiles - the kind of property no insurance policy really replaces.
They Build Quietly
A nocturnal, secretive habit means populations grow for months or years before anyone notices, so damage is often extensive by then.
An Indicator of Moisture
Persistent silverfish activity usually points to a humidity or ventilation problem in a roof void, sub-floor or bathroom worth addressing.
Long Lifespan
Silverfish can live for several years and survive long periods without food, so an untreated population simply persists indefinitely.
A Simple, Proven 4-Step Process
Transparent from the first call to the final follow-up.
Inspection
We assess the property, identify the pest, locate harbourage and entry points, and confirm the extent of the problem.

Get a Free QuoteHow much does silverfish control cost?
Silverfish treatments start from $89 for a standard home with a fixed quote confirmed before work begins. Pricing depends on the size of the property and how many harbourage zones need treating - a unit with one affected wardrobe is straightforward, while a house with an infested roof void, sub-floor and multiple storage areas takes considerably more work.
Why do silverfish keep coming back?
Almost always because the treatment only covered the room where they were seen. Silverfish live in roof voids, wall cavities, sub-floors and behind skirting, and simply move back in. We treat the harbourage itself with a residual dust and targeted applications, which is what breaks the cycle rather than clearing one cupboard.
Does a silverfish problem mean my house is damp?
Often, yes. Silverfish need humidity, so heavy activity usually points to a poorly ventilated roof void, a damp sub-floor, a bathroom without adequate extraction or a leak. We tell you what we find and what to change. Fixing the moisture makes the treatment last far longer than the treatment alone ever would.
Will the treatment damage my books or clothing?
No. We do not spray directly onto books, documents or garments. Treatment goes into the cracks, voids and structural harbourage where silverfish actually live and breed. Your technician will ask you to move valuable items away from wardrobe backs and shelf edges before work starts and will explain exactly where product is going.
How long before I stop seeing them?
You should see a clear drop within one to two weeks. Silverfish are slow-moving and slow-breeding compared with most pests, so they take a little longer to contact the treatment than something like a cockroach. Occasional sightings for a few weeks afterwards are normal as remaining insects encounter the residual product.
Is the work guaranteed?
Yes. Silverfish treatments carry our 6-month warranty. If covered activity returns inside that period we come back and re-treat at no charge and no call-out fee. The warranty is confirmed in writing with your receipt and service report, and we hold NSW pest management licence 5122967.
