Large homes on bushland blocks bordering Lane Cove and Ku-ring-gai Chase national parks — 22 Upper North Shore suburbs where termites, rodents and funnel-webs are the real agenda.
Real, verified feedback from people we've helped — straight from Google.
The Upper North Shore is the highest-risk termite district we work in, and the reasons are the same ones that make people want to live here. Twenty-two suburbs running from Lindfield at about 11 km out to Berowra at nearly 30 km, almost entirely within Ku-ring-gai Council and Hornsby Shire, built on large blocks under heavy tree cover with national park on two sides.
Big Federation and brick homes with expansive roof voids, deep sub-floors, timber decks, garden sleepers and mature gardens. Lane Cove National Park on the southern edge, Berowra Valley National Park and Ku-ring-gai Chase to the north, plus reserves like Dalrymple-Hay, Terramerragal, Sir Phillip Game and the Ku-ring-gai Flying Fox Reserve threaded through the suburbs. That is continuous bushland with continuous termite, rodent and spider habitat pressed against residential housing.
It is also genuine funnel-web country. The damp, shaded, sandstone-and-leaf-litter conditions through this district are what Sydney funnel-webs prefer, and we treat that as a safety matter rather than a nuisance one — particularly for families with young children and for homes with pools, sheds and garden structures where the spiders shelter.
Jobs here are bigger than the Sydney average simply because the properties are. We scope accordingly and price it before we start.
Our technicians run the Pacific Highway corridor from Lindfield to Berowra and across to St Ives most days, so attendance is quick despite the distances.
This is the district where termite work matters most. Full timber inspections, baiting systems and soil barriers to Australian Standard, with written reports.
Targeted treatment of harbourage around sandstone, leaf litter, sheds, pool surrounds and garden structures, with advice on reducing risk to kids and pets.
Big homes mean big voids. We inspect and treat the whole cavity and proof the entry points rather than simply baiting and leaving.

What the bushland border actually does to properties here, and how we work around it.
National park on two sides sets the terms. Lane Cove National Park reaches up through the southern suburbs, Berowra Valley National Park and the Ku-ring-gai Chase country sit to the north around Mount Colah, Mount Kuring-gai and Berowra, and reserves like Dalrymple-Hay Nature Reserve at St Ives, Terramerragal, Collingridge and Sir Phillip Game Reserve are woven right through the residential grid.
That bushland delivers three things to the back fence: subterranean termites working through moist soil and fallen timber, rodents with a protected route to warm roof voids, and funnel-web and other ground-dwelling spiders in the leaf litter, mulch and sandstone. The golf courses — Pymble, Gordon, Asquith and the Roseville course on the boundary — add irrigated turf that keeps ant activity high through summer.
The housing then amplifies all of it. Large roof voids give rodents and possums room to establish before anyone notices. Deep sub-floors on sloping blocks stay damp. Timber decks, pergolas, retaining walls and garden sleepers put cellulose in ground contact right against the structure — which is, more or less, an invitation.
The denser pockets near Gordon, Turramurra, Hornsby and Wahroonga stations, and around Gordon Centre, Lindfield Shopping Village, Berowra Village and Macquarie Centre on the fringe, add the usual retail and apartment cockroach and mouse work on top.
Landmarks we work around: Lane Cove National Park, Berowra Valley National Park, Dalrymple-Hay Nature Reserve, Ku-ring-gai Flying Fox Reserve, Pymble Golf Club, Gordon Golf Club, Asquith Golf Club, Gordon Centre, Lindfield Shopping Village, Terramerragal Reserve, Turramurra station, Wahroonga station.
General pest control starts from $89, but be aware that the typical Upper North Shore property is larger than the Sydney average — more external wall, bigger roof void, deeper sub-floor and a substantial garden — so most houses here price above the entry point. We quote it after scoping, and the number is fixed.
Termite inspections start from $159. For large blocks and bushland-edge properties we will often recommend a full timber pest inspection rather than a basic check, and we will explain the difference before you commit rather than after.
Wahroonga, Turramurra, St Ives, Gordon, Pymble, Killara, Lindfield and Hornsby make up most of our Upper North Shore work, with Berowra and Mount Colah busy for bushland-edge termite and rodent jobs.

Four conditions here combine into the highest termite and spider pressure of any district we cover.
Lane Cove, Berowra Valley and Ku-ring-gai Chase bushland press right against residential blocks, supplying continuous termite, rodent and spider habitat.
Moist bushland soils and fallen hardwood sustain active subterranean colonies. Timber decks, sleepers and retaining walls then bridge them to the house.
Damp sandstone, leaf litter and mulch are preferred funnel-web conditions. We treat harbourage around sheds, pool surrounds and garden structures as a safety job.
Generous roof cavities let rodents and possums establish well before they are heard, and heavy canopy gives them the branch access to get there.

Termite pressure here is shaped by large bushland blocks bordering national park — what that means for the timber in Upper North Shore homes, and what we actually check.
We will be blunt: if you own a timber-framed home on the Upper North Shore and you are not having it inspected annually, you are taking a real financial risk, and we see the results of it regularly.
Everything subterranean termites need is here in abundance. Bushland soils that stay moist under heavy canopy. Fallen hardwood and stumps in the reserves next door. Mature eucalypts. And on the property itself, the features this district is full of — timber decks, pergolas, garden sleepers, retaining walls, sheds and fencing, much of it in direct ground contact against or near the structure.
The housing adds the rest. Deep sub-floors on sloping blocks hold damp. Large, rarely-entered roof voids let activity progress unseen. And many of these homes have been extended more than once, with each extension a potential break in whatever soil barrier was originally installed — if one was installed at all, which for pre-1970s stock often it was not.
Our termite inspections start from $159 and cover the sub-floor, roof void where accessible, garden, decks, retaining walls, fences and outbuildings, with a written report. Where we find pressure rather than damage we will talk you through baiting systems versus a soil barrier honestly, including which one suits your block and what each actually costs to maintain.
We assess the property, identify the pest, locate harbourage and entry points, and confirm the extent of the problem.
You receive a clear, fixed-price plan scoped to your property — no guesswork and no hidden costs.
Licensed technicians apply targeted, pet & child safe treatments designed to eliminate the source.
We monitor results, give prevention advice, and back the work with a 6-month warranty.

Get a Free QuoteAnnually, without exception, if your home is timber-framed or you back onto bushland. This district has the highest termite pressure we work in — moist bushland soils, fallen hardwood next door, and timber decks and sleepers in ground contact on most properties. Inspections start from $159 and come with a written report.
Yes, and we treat it as a safety job rather than a nuisance one. Funnel-webs shelter in damp sandstone, leaf litter, mulch beds, sheds and pool surrounds, which this district has in quantity. We treat the harbourage areas and talk you through practical steps — gloves and closed shoes in the garden, checking shoes left outside, keeping litter back from play areas.
Because the property is bigger. The $89 entry price suits an apartment or a compact home. A typical Upper North Shore house has far more external wall, a much larger roof void, a deeper sub-floor and a substantial garden, all of which take longer to inspect and treat properly. We scope it, quote a fixed price, and you decide before any work starts.
A termite inspection looks for termite activity and conducive conditions. A full timber pest inspection also covers borers and fungal decay, and is the one usually required for a property purchase. On large bushland-edge blocks we often recommend the fuller version, and we will explain why before you book rather than upsell you on the day.
Yes. We inspect the void to identify whether it is rats, mice or possums, because the response differs. Possums are protected in NSW and are removed humanely and the entry proofed so they cannot return. For rodents we treat the population and then seal the access, since baiting alone just leaves the void free for the next one.
