OVERVIEW

Expert Tick Control You Can Trust

Sydney sits inside the paralysis tick belt, and along the northern beaches, the North Shore and any suburb backing onto bushland the risk to pets and children is real rather than theoretical. Every year Sydney vets treat thousands of tick paralysis cases, and a proportion of them are fatal.

Ticks do not roam. They climb vegetation and wait in shaded, humid transition zones for something warm to brush past. That behaviour is what makes professional treatment effective - we treat the harbourage bands where they actually wait, not the open lawn where they never are.

SPECIES WE TREAT

What We Treat

Our licensed technicians are trained across every variety you're likely to encounter in Sydney.

Paralysis Tick

Paralysis Tick

The species of genuine concern in Sydney. Its saliva contains a neurotoxin that can paralyse and kill pets, and it causes severe reactions in people.

Brown Dog Tick

Brown Dog Tick

Completes its whole life cycle indoors and in kennels, so infestations build in the house itself rather than out in the garden.

Bush Tick

Bush Tick

Common along the coast and in cattle country, less dangerous than the paralysis tick but a persistent nuisance on dogs and livestock.

Cattle Tick

Cattle Tick

A notifiable species in some contexts, occasionally encountered on Sydney rural fringes and acreage properties.

Ornate Kangaroo Tick

Ornate Kangaroo Tick

Associated with native wildlife corridors and bushland reserves, picked up by dogs walked off-lead in reserve areas.

Soft Tick

Soft Tick

Less frequently encountered, associated with bird nesting sites, poultry sheds and roof voids where birds have been roosting.

SIGNS OF AN INFESTATION

Know the Warning Signs

Spotting the problem early makes treatment faster, easier and far less costly.

Ticks Found on Pets

Attached ticks on a dog or cat, most often around the head, neck, ears and between the toes, confirm active yard risk.

Wobbliness or Weak Back Legs

A pet that is unsteady, wobbly in the hindquarters or has a changed bark needs an emergency vet visit immediately, not a wait.

Bites After Gardening

Bites picked up while working in shaded garden beds, under shrubs or along a fence line point to established harbourage.

Heavy Leaf Litter and Shade

Moist, shaded areas under dense shrubs, along fence lines and in leaf litter are the classic waiting zones.

Bandicoots or Wildlife in the Yard

Bandicoot diggings, possums and visiting wildlife are the primary hosts that maintain a local paralysis tick population.

Repeated Finds in One Area

Ticks consistently picked up in the same corner of the garden identify precisely where treatment needs to concentrate.

WHY IT MATTERS

Why Tick Control Can't Wait

01

Paralysis Ticks Kill Pets

Tick paralysis is a veterinary emergency, and Sydney sits squarely inside the paralysis tick zone from spring through to late summer.

02

Serious Human Reactions

Tick bites cause severe local reactions, and in some people trigger anaphylaxis or the red meat allergy associated with tick bites.

03

Children Are Most Exposed

Children play in exactly the shaded, low vegetation where ticks wait, and bites in the scalp are easily missed for days.

04

Prevention Beats Treatment

A treated yard dramatically lowers the number of ticks your family and pets encounter through the highest-risk months.

How much does tick control cost?

Yard tick treatments start from $119 with a fixed quote confirmed before we begin. Pricing depends on the size of the property and how much shaded vegetation, fence line and garden bed needs treating. Larger blocks, acreage and properties backing onto bushland reserves take longer and are quoted on inspection.

When is tick season in Sydney?

Paralysis tick activity typically runs from spring through to late summer, peaking roughly between September and February, though a warm humid autumn can extend it well beyond that. Bushland-fringe suburbs can see activity year round. We recommend treating before the season starts and again mid-season for high-risk properties.

Does a yard treatment mean I can stop pet tick prevention?

No, and this matters. Yard treatment substantially reduces the number of ticks in your garden, but no treatment removes every tick from an outdoor space that wildlife keeps visiting. Keep your pets on a veterinary tick preventative all season and keep searching them daily. The two together are what protects your animals.

Which parts of the garden do you treat?

We concentrate on the transition zones where ticks actually wait: shaded garden beds, dense low shrubs, fence lines, leaf litter, the bush interface and the shaded strip along paths and lawn edges. Open sunlit lawn is very low risk and generally does not need treating, which keeps the product used to a sensible minimum.

Is the treatment safe for pets and children?

Yes, when the re-entry instructions are followed. We use APVMA-registered products applied to vegetation and harbourage, and your technician gives you the exact re-entry time on the day, normally once the treated foliage has dried. Keep pets and children off treated garden areas until then, and cover or remove pet bowls and toys beforehand.

Is the work guaranteed?

Yes. Tick treatments carry our 6-month warranty. Because wildlife continually reintroduces ticks to a garden, the warranty covers the treatment performing as it should rather than promising a permanently tick-free yard. If covered activity returns inside that period we come back and re-treat at no charge.
