Where Blairmount sits, who covers it and what it costs.
If you are in Blairmount or anywhere else in 2559, you are in our Macarthur patch, 43.8 km south-west of the CBD. We travel out to Blairmount on planned runs through the Macarthur, so booking a day ahead gets you the best slot.
Mt Annan Marketplace and Gregory Hills Town Centre are the parts of Blairmount we are called to most.
Under Campbelltown and Camden, we cover Blairmount and Currans Hill, Blair Athol and Claymore alike. On a newer estate the houses are near-identical and tightly spaced, which means a problem in one tends to turn up in the ones either side.
The spider calls we take from Blairmount are mostly estate houses with narrow side access and a shared fence line. If yours is one of them, mention it when you ring 1300 313 373 - it changes what the technician brings.
All of 2559 falls inside the area we service.
You get a confirmed time, not a window. We plan the 2559 run the day before, and if Currans Hill or Blair Athol is on the same round there is often an earlier slot going.
A silk-lined hole in damp shaded soil needs care, not a shovel. Around Blairmount we treat ground harbourage specifically rather than assuming a perimeter spray covers it.
Indoor sightings are usually a proofing issue rather than an infestation. Gaps under doors, unscreened vents and wall penetrations account for most of what we find inside.
We brush down egg sacs as part of every job because leaving them means a hatch into treated ground a few weeks later. Spring is when this matters most.
Two of these warrant real care. The rest are mostly a nuisance, but they are why webs reappear.

A glossy black spider of 2 to 4 cm that lives in silk-lined burrows in cool sheltered ground - under rocks, logs and houses. The males wander through summer and autumn seeking females, and a bite is a medical emergency.

The female is black with a red stripe on the back and builds untidy webs in dry, sheltered spots: under outdoor chairs, letterboxes, pot rims, pool fences and sheds. Bites can cause severe pain and need medical advice.

Dark and solidly built, with lacy funnel-shaped webs in window frames, brick gaps and under eaves. Timid, but the webs attract dust and return quickly if nothing is done.

A slender dark roaming hunter, pale at the tip of the abdomen. Active indoors at night hunting other spiders, sometimes in bedding and clothes. Bites hurt; a large study found no ulceration.

Large, flat and fast, living under bark, in wall cavities and behind curtains. Alarming in a car or bedroom, but shy. It hunts rather than webbing, so fewer huntsmen tend to return once the insects they eat are controlled.

Taken on an Elite inspection in Sydney: a huntsman found outside. The eaves, window heads, meter boxes and garden edges are all checked before treatment starts.
General guidance based on Australian Museum and healthdirect advice. It is not a substitute for medical care. In an emergency call 000, and for advice call the Poisons Information Centre on 13 11 26.
| Spider | Risk | First aid | Get help |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sydney funnel-web | Venom acting on the nervous system, potentially lethal | A pressure immobilisation bandage as for snake bite, with the person kept still | Call 000 immediately |
| Mouse spider | Uncommon bites, but some have caused serious effects similar to funnel-web | Treat any bite from a big black spider as a funnel-web bite: pressure immobilisation | Call 000 immediately |
| Redback | Severe pain is common, along with sweating and feeling unwell; antivenom is available | Do NOT apply a pressure bandage. Wash it, then put on a cloth-wrapped cold pack | Seek medical care if pain is severe or symptoms develop |
| White-tailed spider | A painful bite with local redness and itching; a study of 130 confirmed bites found no ulcers | Wash the bite and apply a cold pack | See a doctor if symptoms worsen or persist |
| Black house spider, huntsman and others | Generally just local pain and swelling | Clean the bite and use a cold pack | See a doctor if you feel unwell or symptoms persist |
If you are not sure what bit you and it was a large black spider, assume funnel-web and call 000. A pest treatment reduces spider numbers; it cannot guarantee a funnel-web will never wander in.
A licensed Sydney technician will talk it through and give you a fixed quote within half an hour.
According to the Australian Museum, male funnel-webs leave their burrows mostly over summer and autumn to find females. That is when most people meet one.
Wandering increases on humid post-rain nights. Shoes left outside, laundry on the floor, garages and gaps under doors are where they end up.
They fall into pools while wandering and survive hours underwater. Use the skimmer net and never reach in with your hand.
From the Central Coast down to the Georges River, and west to around Baulkham Hills - mostly in the bushier, more sheltered suburbs.
Outside first, because that is where most spiders live and breed.
We go round the property with you, checking eaves and window frames, the fences, rockeries and retaining walls, the subfloor vents and every garden edge.
Eaves, pergolas, outdoor furniture and garages are brushed clear of webs and egg sacs, preventing a new hatch into the treated area.
We apply a residual to external walls, eaves, window and door frames, weep holes and the resting places we find.
Where funnel-webs are a risk, we treat sheltered ground beside the house: rockeries, retaining walls, sleepers and subfloor edges.
Indoors it is targeted: corners, skirting and wardrobes where required, plus dusting of any accessible roof void and subfloor.
The web-builders that rest on treated walls, eaves and frames: black house spiders, redbacks and garage daddy long-legs.
The hunters - huntsmen, white-tails - cross fewer treated surfaces, so controlling what they feed on is the lever that works.
That a wandering male funnel-web will never cross the yard on a humid night. Treatment reduces harbourage near the house, but first aid knowledge and simple habits still matter.
Those orb weavers across the garden path are harmless. We take down webs by doors and walkways, but leaving some in the garden helps with flying insects.
Simple habits that matter most in funnel-web and redback country.
| Season | What spiders are doing | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Spring (Sept to Nov) | Egg sacs hatching, and webs going up across eaves and fences | Clear the webs and treat before the spiderlings move out |
| Summer (Dec to Feb) | Funnel-web males start wandering; redbacks active around outdoor furniture | Check pools, shoes and outdoor areas; keep door seals in place |
| Autumn (Mar to May) | Male funnel-webs are still wandering, particularly after rain | Be careful on humid nights and keep gardening gloves on |
| Winter (Jun to Aug) | Fewer webs outside, and huntsmen move indoors and into cars | The right time for pest-proofing gaps ahead of spring |
Every address in 2559, from Gregory Hills Town Centre across to the Currans Hill boundary - houses, units, sheds, pools and the gardens around them.
The practical advice for a Blairmount family is the dull kind that works: shoes shaken out, gloves for the garden, a pressure immobilisation bandage in the kit, and 000 and 13 11 26 saved in the phone.
The Macarthur pattern is a build-up from September, heaviest through January and February, easing by April. Treating before the build-up is far more effective.
We tell you which spiders we found and what they mean for your family.
Beyond the eaves: the ground harbourage alongside the house is treated as well.
Clear, honest advice on the limits of treatment, including wandering males.
General treatments are covered for 6 months - webs back within it means we return.

Get a Free QuoteSpider treatment starts from $89. The fixed price depends on the size of the property and how far the problem has spread, and we confirm it before we start - there is no call-out fee in Blairmount 2559. Every general treatment carries a 6-month warranty.
We cover it on scheduled runs, so a day's notice gets you the best slot. Blairmount is about 43.8 km south-west of the CBD in the Macarthur, and we give you a firm arrival time rather than an all-day window.
On a newer estate the boundaries are close and the landscaping is young, so spiders move between properties along fence lines with very little to stop them.
Modern detached homes on compact lots, usually slab on ground, so the perimeter and the entry points do most of the work.
We do all of those. A good share of the Blairmount jobs we run are tenanted or strata properties, so the written record comes as standard.
It is, provided the instructions are followed. We will tell you what to keep clear of and for how long before we leave. Let us know about children, pets or fish tanks when you book.
Most of the time you can carry on as normal. If a particular area needs to be empty we will flag it when we arrive and it is rarely more than a couple of hours.
Between one and two hours covers the majority of jobs. We do not book so tightly that a technician has to cut a job short.
Every general treatment carries a 6-month warranty. A return visit inside that period does not cost you anything.
All of them. Blairmount sits alongside Currans Hill, Blair Athol, Claymore and Gregory Hills in our coverage, and they are serviced on the same schedule.
