What we cover in Bradbury, and how quickly we can get there.
Our Macarthur technicians cover Bradbury and the rest of 2560 as a matter of course - it is only about 43.6 km south-west of the city. We travel out to Bradbury on planned runs through the Macarthur, so booking a day ahead gets you the best slot.
A lot of our Bradbury jobs are in the streets around St Johns Park and Merino Park, and we are out near Campbelltown Golf Course regularly enough that the technician usually knows the access before they arrive.
The suburb sits in the Campbelltown and Camden area. Airds, Ambarvale and Englorie Park are all covered on the same day, so a problem that has spread across a boundary can be handled in one visit. On a newer estate the houses are near-identical and tightly spaced, which means a problem in one tends to turn up in the ones either side.
Most Bradbury bookings come in as recently built homes where the activity started at the boundary. Say which one applies when you call 1300 313 373 and the technician will have the right products on the van.
Beyond that we are regularly around Campbelltown Mall, and out as far as Rosemeadow Marketplace. If you are anywhere in 2560, you are inside the area we run.
The 2560 run is set the day before and you are given an arrival time. Where Airds and Ambarvale fall on the same round, we can usually bring the visit forward.
Ground treatment near a Bradbury garden where children play is planned specifically. There is always a way to do it that suits the household.
A white outdoor light draws flying insects from a long way off, and the spiders follow them to the wall it is mounted on. Switching a Bradbury entry light to a warm or yellow globe makes a visible difference within weeks.
Spiders go where the food is. A Bradbury house with webs returning within days of clearing them has a flying-insect population feeding them, and treating that is what keeps the webs away.
Two of these warrant real care. The rest are mostly a nuisance, but they are why webs reappear.

A glossy black spider of 2 to 4 cm that lives in silk-lined burrows in cool sheltered ground - under rocks, logs and houses. The males wander through summer and autumn seeking females, and a bite is a medical emergency.

Females are black with a red dorsal stripe, spinning untidy webs in dry sheltered places - beneath outdoor chairs, in letterboxes, under pot rims, on pool fences and in sheds. A bite can be severely painful and needs medical advice.

This is the dark stocky one with lacy funnel webs in window frames, brickwork gaps and eaves. It avoids people, but the webs collect dust and reappear fast without treatment.

Slim and dark with a pale-tipped abdomen, this one hunts rather than webs. It comes indoors at night after other spiders, sometimes into bedding and clothing. Bites hurt, but a large study found no ulcers.

Large and flat, and very quick. It lives under bark, in wall cavities and behind curtains - alarming in a bedroom or car, though shy. Since it hunts rather than webs, fewer return once the insects it feeds on are controlled.

| Spider | Risk | First aid | Get help |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sydney funnel-web | Venom that can kill, acting rapidly on the nervous system | Apply a pressure immobilisation bandage exactly as for snake bite; keep them still | Call 000 immediately |
| Mouse spider | Bites are rare, but some have produced funnel-web-like effects | Any bite from a large black spider is treated as a funnel-web bite: pressure immobilisation | Call 000 immediately |
| Redback | Pain that often becomes severe, with sweating and feeling unwell; antivenom exists | Do NOT apply a pressure bandage. Clean the area, then use a cold pack wrapped in cloth | Seek medical care if pain is severe or symptoms develop |
| White-tailed spider | Painful, with redness and itch at the site; no ulceration in a study of 130 confirmed bites | Clean the bite, then use a cold pack | See a doctor if symptoms worsen or persist |
| Black house spider, huntsman and others | Typically just pain and swelling where you were bitten | Wash the area, then apply a cold pack | See a doctor if you feel unwell or symptoms persist |
If you are not sure what bit you and it was a large black spider, assume funnel-web and call 000. A pest treatment reduces spider numbers; it cannot guarantee a funnel-web will never wander in.
A licensed Sydney technician will talk it through and give you a fixed quote within half an hour.
The Australian Museum notes that male funnel-webs mostly leave the burrow across summer and autumn to search for females - which is when most encounters happen.
Humid nights after rain bring more wandering males. They shelter in shoes left outside, laundry on the floor, garages and gaps under doors.
Pools trap wandering males, which can survive many hours submerged. Always use the skimmer net - never your hand.
The Sydney funnel-web is found from the Central Coast south to the Georges River and west to around Baulkham Hills, mostly in bushy, sheltered suburbs.
Outside first, because that is where most spiders live and breed.
The inspection is a walk round with you, covering eaves, window frames, fences, rockeries, retaining walls, subfloor vents and garden edges.
Brushing down webs and egg sacs from eaves, pergolas, furniture and garages prevents spiderlings hatching into what we have treated.
Residual product covers external walls, eaves, window and door frames, weep holes and the spots spiders rest in.
Funnel-web risk brings the ground into scope - the sheltered strip beside the house, rockeries, retaining walls, sleepers and subfloor edges.
Inside, we spot treat corners, skirting and wardrobes as needed, and dust the roof void and subfloor where access allows.
Spiders that web and then sit on treated walls, eaves and frames - black house spiders, redbacks, the garage daddy long-legs.
Hunters like huntsmen and white-tails meet fewer treated surfaces, so controlling their prey is what reduces them in the longer term.
That a wandering male funnel-web never crosses the yard after rain. What we do is cut the harbourage close to the house - the habits and the first aid still count.
Harmless, the garden orb weavers that web across paths. Webs near doors and walkways are removed; some left in the garden control flying insects.
Simple habits that matter most in funnel-web and redback country.
| Season | What spiders are doing | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Spring (Sept to Nov) | Egg sacs open and web numbers climb on eaves and fences | Treat early and remove webs before the young scatter |
| Summer (Dec to Feb) | Funnel-web males on the move, redbacks active around outdoor seating | Check the pool and shoes, look over outdoor areas, maintain door seals |
| Autumn (Mar to May) | Wandering funnel-webs remain active, particularly post-rain | Stay alert on humid nights and keep gardening gloves on |
| Winter (Jun to Aug) | Outdoor webs become scarce while huntsmen shelter indoors and in cars | A good window for proofing gaps before spring |
Anywhere in Bradbury is the same price and the same response, whether it backs onto reserve or sits in the middle of the suburb.
Bushland blocks get the most funnel-web activity and the most wandering spiders after rain. That is where ground treatment matters most.
The Macarthur pattern is a build-up from September, heaviest through January and February, easing by April. Treating before the build-up is far more effective.
Which spiders we found, and what they actually mean for your family - you get both.
Beyond the eaves: the ground harbourage alongside the house is treated as well.
Honest about the limits, particularly where wandering funnel-web males are concerned.
General spider treatments come with 6 months of cover, and webs returning means we do too.

Get a Free QuoteSpider treatment starts from $89. We quote on the property rather than the postcode, so a unit in Bradbury and a large house are priced differently. The figure is fixed before any work starts. Every general treatment carries a 6-month warranty.
We cover it on scheduled runs, so a day's notice gets you the best slot. Bradbury sits roughly 43.6 km south-west of the CBD, inside our Macarthur run, so we book a time and keep to it.
The ground here was cleared and rebuilt recently, which displaced whatever lived in it, and the blocks are close enough that spiders move between them along the fence lines.
Newer detached homes on compact blocks, so access down the side and the shared fence line shape how we work.

Yes, when it is applied properly. We use registered products at label rates and tell you which areas to keep clear and for how long. Mention pets, fish tanks or allergies when you book.
Usually not. Most spider control work is done with you there, and anything that needs the room vacated is for a short period we will tell you about beforehand.
Allow one to two hours for a typical Bradbury property. Larger homes, or ones where the problem has spread, take longer and we will say so when we quote.
Every general treatment carries a 6-month warranty. A return visit inside that period does not cost you anything.
All of them. Bradbury sits alongside Airds, Ambarvale, Englorie Park and Campbelltown in our coverage, and they are serviced on the same schedule.
