What we cover in Wentworthville, and how quickly we can get there.
If you are in Wentworthville or anywhere else in 2145, you are in our Greater Parramatta & Cumberland patch, 23.2 km west of the CBD. We run Wentworthville on a regular route, and same-day attendance is usually available.
Most weeks we are somewhere between Pendle Hill station and Lytton Street Park in Wentworthville, and Irwin Place Park is close enough to be on the same run.
Wentworthville is in the City of Parramatta and Cumberland area, and we cover South Wentworthville, Constitution Hill and Pendle Hill on the same runs - handy if you own more than one property or your ant problem has come from next door. Terraces, semis and converted blocks share cavities and risers, which is why a single-unit treatment often does not hold on its own.
What we see in Wentworthville is older semis with a paved rear courtyard and a sub-floor that no longer dries out. Describing it accurately when you book saves a second visit.
The rest of 2145 is covered too, including the pockets around Wentworthville Shopping Plaza and Westmead Shopping Village.
You get a confirmed time, not a window. We plan the 2145 run the day before, and if South Wentworthville or Constitution Hill is on the same round there is often an earlier slot going.
Pharaoh and some other small species nest indoors in warm voids and never go outside at all. In a Wentworthville house that changes the treatment completely - and makes spraying actively harmful, because it buds the colony.
The reason the trail returns to the same spot in a Wentworthville kitchen is that it is marked chemically. Wiping it buys hours. Treating the colony that maintains it is the only thing that ends it.
Ants will defend aphids and scale from predators because that honeydew is their sugar supply. Deal with the scale on the plants near the house and the ant pressure drops with it.
Each of these behaves differently, so the bait and the placement change too. Two photos come from our own jobs.

Small, shiny and black, and one of the most common kitchen ants in Sydney. It trails along skirting boards, window frames and power cables, and nests in wall voids, roof spaces and garden edges. It readily takes sweet baits.

Minute brown ants with larger-headed soldiers among them. Fine sand in paving joints, at slab edges and in grout is the tell. Because a colony holds many nests, oil-based granular baits are the right approach.

Small and flat brown in colour, running in dense fast trails. Because nests hold many queens and join with those next door, the infestation is usually bigger than one property. Never spray a repellent on it.

Big ants, usually out after dark, nesting in soil, hollow trees and timber that has gone soft or damp. They are not the structural threat their overseas relatives are, but finding one in a wall usually means there is a leak behind it.

Taken on an Elite job: a mortar joint with a nest behind it. Weep holes and failed mortar are a direct path into the cavity, where many black house ant colonies establish.

An Elite photo of gel bait on an active trail. The whole point is letting them feed and take it home, so the trail must be left alone once we have treated it.
Where ants appear usually tells us where the nest is and which species we are dealing with.
When they come in from the outside wall, the nest is usually in the cavity or just outside in the garden. We work back from the entry point.
Fine sand pushed up through paving, driveway and slab joints is coastal brown ants underneath, almost without exception.
Warmth is what draws them into switches and electrical fittings. Never spray into a power point - tell us instead and we will treat it safely.
Swarms of winged ants in spring and summer are mating flights. Seen indoors, they can mean a mature colony inside the building.
Trails in the bathroom point to water in the wall or a slow leak the ants have found.
These are the bull ants and jumper ants nesting in lawns and beds - a painful sting, and a risk of serious allergic reaction for some.

Argentine ants and a number of house ants carry multiple queens. Spray them with a repellent and a queen plus a few hundred workers simply moves out and starts again nearby.
Repellent means detectable, and detectable means avoided. Non-repellent products let foragers walk through and transfer the active to the rest of the nest.
A colony's appetite shifts between sugar and protein with the brood cycle. Bait only works when it matches, which is why we test preferences on site.
Give it days, not hours. Bait has to be carried through the colony, and spraying the trail afterwards destroys the couriers doing that work. Our blog covers budding in more detail.
Tracing first, then baits and non-repellent products that do the work after we leave.
We identify the ant and follow trails back to entry points and nests in walls, paving, garden edges and roof spaces.
Sweet, protein and oil-based baits are offered in small amounts so the colony shows us its current preference.
Gel is placed on the trails themselves - along window frames and skirting boards - and positioned out of reach of children and pets.
We treat the foundation line, weep holes, door frames and paths with a non-repellent so incoming ants carry it with them.
For nests beneath pavers and in lawn edges - typically coastal brown ants - we use granular bait or treat the nest directly.
You receive the job summary in writing, guidance on what to leave alone, and 6 months of warranty on the general treatment.
The same bait does not suit every ant. This is how we choose.
| Species | Usually feeding on | Treatment approach | Common mistake |
|---|---|---|---|
| Black house ant | Sugary liquids and honeydew, plus protein when raising brood | Sweet gel bait on trails, non-repellent perimeter at weep holes and frames | Wiping trails with detergent daily, which keeps the colony foraging elsewhere |
| Coastal brown ant | Protein and oil | Oil-based granular bait applied to paving and lawn edges | Pouring insecticide into one pile and assuming that was the colony |
| Argentine ant | Sugars, with protein at times | Slow-acting baits plus non-repellent treatment across the property line | Repellent barrier sprays, which split multi-queen nests |
| Sugar ants (Camponotus) | Nocturnal, on sweet foods and insects | Trails inspected at night, bait placed near the nest, timber moisture fixed | Only ever treating during the day, when there is nothing to see |
| Bull ants and jumper ants | Insects and nectar outdoors | Direct nest treatment in lawns and garden beds | Digging into the nest by hand and getting stung |
| Time of year | What is happening | What to watch for |
|---|---|---|
| Early spring (Sept to Oct) | Colonies become active and start on brood, which shifts them onto protein | Early indoor trails, and sand piles returning to the paving |
| Late spring to summer (Nov to Feb) | Peak foraging, mating flights after warm humid weather | Winged ants, heavy trails after storms and heatwaves |
| Autumn (Mar to May) | The colony is at its largest and laying in stores before winter | Trails running into pantries and to pet food |
| Winter (Jun to Aug) | Quiet outside, but colonies in warm wall cavities keep working | Ants around the heater, the hot water unit and the kitchen |
Most failed ant treatments come down to what happens in the week after.
After sustained rain in Wentworthville we get a run of calls, and the cause is consistent: shallow nests waterlogged, the colony moved into a wall cavity or subfloor to dry out.
A column of ants going in and out of a weep hole means they are nesting in the cavity, not the garden. Treating the garden bed in that case does nothing at all for a Wentworthville home.
Winter does not kill the colony, it just slows it. The nest under a Wentworthville path in July is the same nest that produces the trail in October.
The trail gets traced to its source. Spraying where you saw ants achieves very little.
Which bait we use depends on the ant and the season: sweet, protein or oil-based.
Non-repellent products only - they are taken back to the nest rather than scattering it.
General treatments come with 6 months. Ants back within that window means we come back too.

Joined housing is the reason. Where walls, roof voids and sub-floors are continuous between properties, ants are a street-level problem rather than a house-level one.
Joined housing with ageing drainage. That combination decides where product goes far more than the floor plan does.
Yes. Houses, townhouses, units, strata common property, rentals and commercial sites in Wentworthville 2145 are all part of what we do, and the paperwork is the kind agents accept.
It is, provided the instructions are followed. We will tell you what to keep clear of and for how long before we leave. Let us know about children, pets or fish tanks when you book.
You do not normally need to leave. Anything requiring an empty room is short, and you will know about it before the work starts.
Allow an hour to two hours for most properties. A bigger building, or one where the problem has spread, takes longer - and we would rather tell you that when quoting than rush it.
Every general treatment carries a 6-month warranty. If it is not holding, call us - that is exactly what the warranty is for.
We do. Wentworthville and South Wentworthville, Constitution Hill, Pendle Hill and Westmead are all on the same route, which helps if you own more than one property in the area.
