Where Annangrove sits, who covers it and what it costs.
Postcode 2156 covers Annangrove and the streets immediately around it. At about 34.5 km north-west of the CBD it falls in the Hills District, where we have vans out daily. We cover Annangrove on scheduled runs through the Hills District, and we will give you a firm time rather than a window.
Around Annangrove we are most often working near Maria Iori Park.
Our runs through Annangrove also take in Nelson, North Kellyville and Rouse Hill. Backing onto bush means re-entry is the issue, so proofing and the perimeter do the real work here.
Most Annangrove bookings come in as properties where the fence line matters as much as the kitchen. Say which one applies when you call 1300 313 373 and the technician will have the right products on the van.
Wherever you are in 2156, you are inside the area our technicians cover.
We confirm your slot the day before and arrive at a stated time. Nelson and North Kellyville sit on the same run, so earlier appointments in 2156 come up regularly.
Cockroaches do not respect a lease boundary. In a Annangrove block they move through service risers, shared drains and the cavity between units, so treating one kitchen in a building with a problem is money spent on a holding pattern.
Two very different problems get called the same thing. Indoors and small means German cockroach and a resident population. Large and occasional means an outdoor species that walked in - and in Annangrove that usually traces back to a drain, a vent or a gap under a door.
The usual route into a Annangrove home is carried, not crawled. Appliance deliveries, recycled cartons and second-hand white goods are the three we trace most often.
Knowing the species tells us where the nest is and which treatment will work. Two of these photos are from our own Sydney jobs.

Light brown with two dark stripes behind the head, roughly 12 to 15 mm long. It lives indoors near warmth, food and moisture, and it is the species that breeds fastest inside a kitchen.

Large and reddish-brown, up to about 4 cm. It lives in sewers, stormwater pits, grease traps and subfloors, and comes up through drains at night rather than breeding in the kitchen.

Similar in size to the American cockroach but with pale yellow edges near the head and along the wings. Despite the name it is an outdoor species that comes in from gardens, mulch and subfloors.

Small, with light bands across the back. Unlike the others it avoids damp, preferring warm dry places up high - behind wall hangings, inside appliance housings and in upper cupboards.

One of our Sydney inspections, showing German cockroach activity. The harbourage itself tells the story: droppings, cast skins and egg cases give us both the species and the scale.

From a commercial kitchen we service: cockroach harbourage inside the machinery. Hollow legs, door seals and motor housings keep their heat overnight and are almost never cleaned.
Where and when you see them is often a better clue than size. Use this to tell us what you are seeing when you call.
| What you see | Likely species | Where the nest usually is | What treatment focuses on |
|---|---|---|---|
| Small cockroaches in the kitchen during the day, plus pepper-like droppings in cupboard corners | German cockroach, usually a heavy infestation | Hinges, dishwasher and fridge cavities, behind the kickboards, inside appliances | Gel bait rotation, growth regulator and crack-and-crevice treatment inside |
| A single big one after dark by the laundry tub, the bathroom or a floor drain | American cockroach | Stormwater and sewer pits, the space under the floor, floor wastes that have dried out | Treating the pits and drains, the subfloor, and sealing the gaps where pipes pass through |
| Yellow-edged cockroaches in the garage, or coming through a door from the garden | Australian cockroach | Mulch and leaf litter, woodpiles, and the roof void | External perimeter, a dusting through the roof void, and clearing garden harbourage |
| Little banded cockroaches behind a picture frame or inside the TV unit, away from any water | Brown-banded cockroach | Dry warm spots in furniture and inside electrical gear | Targeted baiting in the rooms you live and sleep in, not the kitchen |
| A flat that clears for a fortnight and then has cockroaches again | German cockroach moving through the building | Shared risers, the bin room, and cavities running between walls | A coordinated treatment across the block. See strata pest control |

Each German cockroach egg case carries roughly 30 eggs and stays with the female almost until they hatch. Surface sprays never reach it, so the following generation arrives regardless.
Several egg cases per female, and nymphs maturing in weeks where it is warm - the arithmetic is why cockroach numbers climb so steeply once they are established.
Supermarket sprays and bombs repel. The colony moves further into the cavity, or next door, and your benchtops end up with residue on them.
The allergen load - droppings, saliva, cast skins - is a recognised trigger for asthma and allergies, which is why clearing an infestation properly matters beyond the nuisance.
What the technician does on the day, in the order it happens.
Step one is knowing which cockroach you have. Step two is finding where it shelters: torch and inspection mirror through hinges, appliance cavities, kickboards and wall voids.
Where build-up is feeding them, you will get a short list of what to clean and the order to do it in - bait has to out-compete everything else available.
Dots of professional gel are placed in the cracks they run through. One feeds, carries it back to the harbourage, and it works through the colony from the inside.
A growth regulator shuts down the next generation, and dust goes into the voids and cavities where gel simply cannot be placed.
For American and Australian cockroaches we treat pits, floor wastes, the subfloor and roof void, because those species live outside the kitchen and travel in.
You get a written summary. If activity is still heavy after two weeks or returns within 6 months of a general treatment, we come back at no charge.
Some DIY options help with a few stray cockroaches. An established German cockroach colony is a different job.
| Method | What it does well | Where it falls short |
|---|---|---|
| Aerosol surface spray | Deals with the individual in front of you | Never touches the egg cases or the voids, and drives the rest further into the walls |
| Bug bombs and foggers | Reaches open floor and bench area without effort | Misses the harbourage entirely, leaves residue where you prepare food, and disperses them |
| Retail bait stations | Has a place when you have only seen one or two | Very little bait in each, and any crumbs or grease will out-compete it |
| Professional gel bait rotation | Fed on where they shelter and passed between them, with formulations rotated as needed | Only works once competing food is gone, and takes days to a couple of weeks |
| Insect growth regulator | Prevents nymphs maturing, so the cycle of egg cases stops | Slow on its own, which is why it is never used without bait |
Ten minutes of preparation lets the bait reach more cockroaches.
Seeing more of them at first is expected. They come out, move slowly and die - the bait and growth regulator doing their job. Sweep up and leave everything else alone.
Numbers should drop away through this period. Do not wipe the bait out of hinges and cracks, and do not spray over it - cockroaches will stop taking bait that has been sprayed.
Tell your agent or building manager if activity continues, as cockroaches often travel between lots. Our apartment pest control page explains building-wide options.
If you still see steady activity after two weeks, or cockroaches return within 6 months of a general treatment, call 1300 313 373 for a warranty re-treatment.
A good share of our Annangrove work sits close to Maria Iori Park, though the back streets and the Nelson boundary are just as familiar.
A cockroach sighting in a Annangrove food business is a compliance problem before it is a pest problem. The program we run is built so the paperwork exists before anyone asks for it.
In older Annangrove buildings a cockroach population can live entirely in the drain line and come up at night. Treating the kitchen and ignoring the pipework means you are treating the visitors, not the residents.
What we use depends on what you have: baits and growth regulators for German cockroaches, pit and subfloor treatment for the drain species.
Bait placed in cracks and hinges, not a blanket spray over food preparation surfaces.
Single units through to commercial kitchens, with food premises worked outside trading hours.
