Local technicians, fixed prices and a written report for every job in Berrilee.
Berrilee sits about 30 km north of the CBD in the Upper North Shore, and postcode 2159 is one we are in most weeks. We cover Berrilee on scheduled runs through the Upper North Shore, and we will give you a firm time rather than a window.
Berowra Marketplace is the part of Berrilee we attend most often.
The suburb sits in the Ku-ring-gai and Hornsby area. Berowra Waters, Berowra Heights and Fiddletown are all covered on the same day, so a problem that has spread across a boundary can be handled in one visit. Backing onto bush means re-entry is the issue, so proofing and the perimeter do the real work here.
Most Berrilee bookings come in as houses backing onto a reserve, where the pressure is constant from outside. Say which one applies when you call 1300 313 373 and the technician will have the right products on the van.
Every part of 2159 is covered as standard.
Bookings for 2159 are confirmed the day before with a set arrival time, not an all-day window. Jobs at Berowra Waters and Berowra Heights often share the same run, which is how earlier slots come up.
The whole job is finding where they shelter. We go looking for what stays warm overnight and never gets wiped: inside appliance housings, under drawer bases, around cable entries, behind the kickboard in a Berrilee kitchen.
One at night is a cockroach. One at midday is a population. When harbourage fills up they are forced into the open to find somewhere else, which is why daytime activity changes how we scope the job.
German cockroaches are small, light brown, and stay indoors near warmth and water. Australian and smoky-brown cockroaches are bigger, darker and come in from outside. In Berrilee we see both, and they need completely different treatments - one is a kitchen job, the other is a perimeter job.
Knowing the species tells us where the nest is and which treatment will work. Two of these photos are from our own Sydney jobs.

At 12 to 15 mm and light brown with two dark stripes behind the head, this is the species we find living permanently indoors. Warmth, food and moisture are all it needs, and it reproduces faster than any other cockroach here.

The big reddish-brown one, reaching around 4 cm. Its home is the drain line, the grease trap, the stormwater pit or the subfloor - it visits the kitchen, it does not live there.

As big as the American but marked with pale yellow along the edge of the wings and behind the head. The name misleads: this one lives outside in mulch and garden beds and only comes indoors to look about.

A small cockroach with light bands across the body, found away from water in warm dry positions: behind frames, in electrical fittings, in cupboards at height.

One of our Sydney inspections, showing German cockroach activity. The harbourage itself tells the story: droppings, cast skins and egg cases give us both the species and the scale.

Taken on an Elite commercial job - harbourage inside the equipment itself. Motor cavities, door seals and hollow legs stay warm all night and rarely see a cloth.
Where and when you see them is often a better clue than size. Use this to tell us what you are seeing when you call.
| What you see | Likely species | Where the nest usually is | What treatment focuses on |
|---|---|---|---|
| Small cockroaches you can see without a torch, plus droppings like coarse pepper on cupboard edges | German cockroach - daytime sightings mean a lot of them | Hinges, the cavity behind the fridge, under the kickboards, in the housings of the appliances | Gel bait rotated through the job, a growth regulator, and crack-and-crevice work indoors |
| A large cockroach or two after dark, always near a drain, the laundry or the bathroom | American cockroach | The sewer and stormwater pits, the subfloor, and floor-waste traps that have dried out | Pit and drain treatment, the subfloor, and sealing the gaps around pipe penetrations |
| Large ones marked with yellow near the head, found in the garage or wandering in from the yard | Australian cockroach | Mulched beds, leaf litter, woodpiles, and the roof space above | Work outside: the perimeter, the roof void, and the harbourage in the garden itself |
| Small cockroaches found upstairs or in bedrooms rather than around the sink | Brown-banded cockroach | Dry, warm furniture and the inside of electrical appliances | Targeted bait placement through living and sleeping spaces |
| A unit that goes quiet for a couple of weeks and then has cockroaches again | German cockroach coming through from another lot | The risers, bin room and wall cavities the units have in common | A treatment coordinated across the building. See strata pest control |

One call to a licensed Sydney technician gets you honest advice and a fixed quote within 30 minutes.
Each German cockroach egg case carries roughly 30 eggs and stays with the female almost until they hatch. Surface sprays never reach it, so the following generation arrives regardless.
Several egg cases per female, and nymphs maturing in weeks where it is warm - the arithmetic is why cockroach numbers climb so steeply once they are established.
Because they repel, bombs and aerosols spread the problem: deeper into the walls, into the neighbouring unit, and over the surfaces you prepare food on.
Cast skins, droppings and saliva are recognised asthma and allergy triggers, which makes a long-running infestation a health issue rather than just an annoyance.
What the technician does on the day, in the order it happens.
Species confirmation comes first, then the search. Torch and inspection mirror into cupboard hinges, appliance housings, the kickboard void and the wall cavity, so the treatment is aimed rather than general.
Grease and food residue keep a colony going, so we show you the spots that matter most. Bait only wins if it is the best meal in the room.
Professional gel goes down as small dots inside the cracks they already use. A cockroach feeds, goes home, and the product moves through the rest of the colony from there.
A growth regulator shuts down the next generation, and dust goes into the voids and cavities where gel simply cannot be placed.
Pits, floor wastes, the subfloor and the roof void get treated for the American and Australian species - they come in from there, so that is where it has to be done.
Everything is recorded in writing. Still seeing heavy activity after a fortnight, or it returns inside the 6-month warranty on a general treatment? We return at no cost.
Some DIY options help with a few stray cockroaches. An established German cockroach colony is a different job.
| Method | What it does well | Where it falls short |
|---|---|---|
| Aerosol surface spray | Deals with the individual in front of you | Never touches the egg cases or the voids, and drives the rest further into the walls |
| Bug bombs and foggers | Puts product across everything out in the open | Does not get into harbourage, coats your benchtops, and can split the colony up |
| Retail bait stations | Reasonable for a minor, early problem | Too little bait to clear a colony, and easily out-competed by crumbs and grease |
| Professional gel bait rotation | Fed on where they shelter and passed between them, with formulations rotated as needed | Only works once competing food is gone, and takes days to a couple of weeks |
| Insect growth regulator | Stops the young ever reaching breeding age, which ends the egg-case cycle | Acts slowly by design, so bait always goes in with it |
Ten minutes of preparation lets the bait reach more cockroaches.
Cockroaches coming out in daylight and moving sluggishly is the normal first sign. The bait and growth regulator are working. Sweep up what you find and carry on.
Numbers should drop away through this period. Do not wipe the bait out of hinges and cracks, and do not spray over it - cockroaches will stop taking bait that has been sprayed.
Keep the agent or building manager informed if it does not settle; cockroaches travel between flats. Our apartment pest control page covers the options for a whole block.
Ring 1300 313 373 for a warranty re-treatment if steady activity continues past two weeks, or if cockroaches return within 6 months of a general treatment.
We are around Berowra Marketplace and the streets behind it most weeks, and we cover every address in 2159, not just the main roads.
Cockroaches do not respect a lease boundary. In a Berrilee block they move through service risers, shared drains and the cavity between units, so treating one kitchen in a building with a problem is money spent on a holding pattern.
The pattern we see across Berrilee and the wider Upper North Shore is a surge after the first properly warm week, then steady pressure until autumn. Treating before that surge is far cheaper than treating after it.
What we use depends on what you have: baits and growth regulators for German cockroaches, pit and subfloor treatment for the drain species.
Gel baits in cracks and hinges, not blanket spraying across benches where you prepare food.
Apartments through to commercial kitchens, with food businesses serviced when they are closed.
A general treatment is covered for 6 months. Cockroaches inside that period mean a free return visit.

Get a Free QuoteA cockroach treatment starts from $89. There is no call-out charge in Berrilee 2159. The final number comes down to the property itself, and it is fixed before we begin. Every general treatment carries a 6-month warranty.
We cover it on scheduled runs, so a day's notice gets you the best slot. We are about 30 km north of the city here, and Berrilee is covered by the Upper North Shore team.
Leaf litter, fallen timber and undisturbed ground right up to the boundary keep cockroaches populations healthy next door to you, whatever you do indoors.
Detached houses on larger blocks with bush on a boundary, so the fence line and perimeter matter as much as the interior.
We do all of those. A good share of the Berrilee jobs we run are tenanted or strata properties, so the written record comes as standard.
Yes, when it is applied properly. We use registered products at label rates and tell you which areas to keep clear and for how long. Mention pets, fish tanks or allergies when you book.
Most of the time you can carry on as normal. If a particular area needs to be empty we will flag it when we arrive and it is rarely more than a couple of hours.
Allow one to two hours for a typical Berrilee property. Larger homes, or ones where the problem has spread, take longer and we will say so when we quote.
Every general treatment carries a 6-month warranty. If activity continues past the expected period, call us and we will come back.
Yes. As well as Berrilee we cover Berowra Waters, Berowra Heights, Fiddletown and Berowra on the same runs, so a job that crosses a boundary can be handled in one visit.
