Bondi Junction sits about 4.5 km south-east of the CBD in the Eastern Suburbs, and postcode 2022 is one we are in most weeks. Our technicians are through Bondi Junction most days, so same-day attendance is usually available.
The Bondi Junction addresses we attend cluster around Woollahra Golf Club and Bondi Junction station. Fred Hollows Reserve is another part of the suburb we are called to often.
The suburb sits in the Waverley, Randwick and Woollahra area. Woollahra, Bondi and Bellevue Hill are all covered on the same day, so a problem that has spread across a boundary can be handled in one visit. Salt air and sandy ground keep sub-floors damp here, and damp is what sustains a population.
Around Bondi Junction the pattern is fairly consistent: apartments where the problem is really in the building rather than the flat. Tell us which it is on the phone and we will come prepared for it.
Double Bay Beach and Westfield Bondi Junction are on the same round, which means every part of 2022 is within our area.
When you book, we confirm the 2022 run the day before and give you an arrival time rather than a window. If we are already out at Woollahra or Bondi that morning, we will usually offer you the earlier slot.
If cockroaches keep appearing in a Bondi Junction bathroom rather than the kitchen, the drain is the first thing we check. They travel the pipework between units and come up wherever the seal has dried out.
Cockroach calls climb from October and peak through February, because warmth shortens the time a nymph needs to reach breeding age. The same population that was manageable in a Bondi Junction kitchen in winter can double over a hot month.
If you are seeing them with the lights on, the numbers behind the kickboard are substantial. We treat a daytime report in Bondi Junction as an established infestation rather than a few strays.
Knowing the species tells us where the nest is and which treatment will work. Two of these photos are from our own Sydney jobs.

Small, 12 to 15 mm, light brown, marked with two dark stripes behind the head. This is the indoor breeder: it wants warmth, food and damp, and a kitchen supplies all three.

Large and reddish-brown, up to about 4 cm. It lives in sewers, stormwater pits, grease traps and subfloors, and comes up through drains at night rather than breeding in the kitchen.

Similar in size to the American cockroach, told apart by the yellow margins at the head and wing edges. An outdoor species - gardens, mulch, the subfloor - that makes its way in.

Small and marked with pale bands. It is the one that does not want water, so it settles high and dry - behind pictures, inside electrical housings, in the top cupboards.

One of our Sydney inspections, showing German cockroach activity. The harbourage itself tells the story: droppings, cast skins and egg cases give us both the species and the scale.

From an Elite commercial job: harbourage found inside kitchen equipment. The motor housing, the door seal and the hollow leg hold warmth after close and almost never get cleaned out.
Where and when you see them is often a better clue than size. Use this to tell us what you are seeing when you call.
| What you see | Likely species | Where the nest usually is | What treatment focuses on |
|---|---|---|---|
| Daytime sightings near the sink, plus specks of droppings along the joins in cupboards | German cockroach - the one species that lives and breeds indoors | Hinges and drawer runners, the gap behind fridge and dishwasher, behind kickboards, inside motor housings | A bait rotation paired with a growth regulator, placed into cracks rather than sprayed about |
| A single big one after dark by the laundry tub, the bathroom or a floor drain | American cockroach | Stormwater and sewer pits, the space under the floor, floor wastes that have dried out | Treating the pits and drains, the subfloor, and sealing the gaps where pipes pass through |
| Big cockroaches with pale yellow margins, usually in the garage or arriving from outside | Australian cockroach | Garden mulch, leaf litter, stacked firewood and the roof cavity | Perimeter treatment outside, dusting the roof void, and dealing with garden harbourage |
| Little banded cockroaches behind a picture frame or inside the TV unit, away from any water | Brown-banded cockroach | Dry warm spots in furniture and inside electrical gear | Targeted baiting in the rooms you live and sleep in, not the kitchen |
| A flat that clears for a fortnight and then has cockroaches again | German cockroach moving through the building | Shared risers, the bin room, and cavities running between walls | A coordinated treatment across the block. See strata pest control |

One call to a licensed Sydney technician gets you honest advice and a fixed quote within 30 minutes.
The egg case - around 30 eggs, carried by the female until just before hatching - is shielded from anything applied to a surface. That is why the population reappears after a DIY attempt.
Multiply several egg cases per female by nymphs that mature in a few warm weeks and you have the reason a minor sighting turns into an infestation.
Bombs and supermarket sprays push cockroaches deeper into wall voids and into the unit next door, and can contaminate the surfaces you prepare food on.
Cast skins, droppings and saliva are recognised asthma and allergy triggers, which makes a long-running infestation a health issue rather than just an annoyance.
What the technician does on the day, in the order it happens.
We confirm the species and use a torch and inspection mirror to find harbourage: hinges, appliance housings, kickboards and wall voids. The treatment follows what we find, not a standard routine.
We identify the build-up that is feeding them and tell you what to deal with first. The less competing food there is, the harder the bait works.
Rather than spray, we put small amounts of gel exactly where they travel. They eat and return to shelter, and that is how the treatment reaches the ones you never see.
A growth regulator shuts down the next generation, and dust goes into the voids and cavities where gel simply cannot be placed.
The outdoor species need outdoor treatment - stormwater pits, floor wastes, under the floor and the roof cavity, which is where they actually live before they reach your kitchen.
You receive a written summary of what was found and done. Heavy activity after two weeks, or a return within the 6-month general-treatment warranty, brings us back free of charge.
Some DIY options help with a few stray cockroaches. An established German cockroach colony is a different job.
| Method | What it does well | Where it falls short |
|---|---|---|
| Aerosol surface spray | Quick on a cockroach you can actually reach | No effect on egg cases or harbourage, and it pushes the others deeper into cavities |
| Bug bombs and foggers | Covers open surfaces in a room | Misses harbourage, leaves residue on benches, and can scatter the colony |
| Retail bait stations | Reasonable for a minor, early problem | Too little bait to clear a colony, and easily out-competed by crumbs and grease |
| Professional gel bait rotation | Taken into the harbourage and shared around; if they tire of one gel we change it | Needs the kitchen clean behind it, and works over days rather than hours |
| Insect growth regulator | Stops nymphs maturing into breeding adults, which breaks the egg-case cycle | Works slowly, so it is always paired with bait |
Ten minutes of preparation lets the bait reach more cockroaches.
You may see cockroaches out in daylight, moving slowly or dying on the floor. This is the bait and growth regulator starting to work. Sweep them up and keep going.
Through the second week activity should fall away. Leave the bait in place in hinges and cracks, and resist spraying anything over it, which puts cockroaches off feeding.
If it keeps going, let the agent or building manager know - cockroaches move between units readily. There is more on co-ordinated work on our apartment pest control page.
Call 1300 313 373 if activity is still steady after a fortnight, or if they come back within the 6 months a general treatment covers. The re-treatment is under warranty.
A good share of our Bondi Junction work sits close to Fred Hollows Reserve, though the back streets and the Woollahra boundary are just as familiar.
Sydney does not give cockroaches an off-season. Around Bondi Junction the warm, humid stretch from October through March drives breeding hardest, but a heated Eastern Suburbs home keeps a kitchen population going through winter without pause.
If your Bondi Junction neighbour has cockroaches, you have a supply line. The treatment still works, but it needs the entry points sealed and ideally the adjoining property done at the same time.
What we use depends on what you have: baits and growth regulators for German cockroaches, pit and subfloor treatment for the drain species.
Bait placed in cracks and hinges, not a blanket spray over food preparation surfaces.
One flat or a whole commercial kitchen - food premises are done outside trading hours.
If cockroaches return inside 6 months of a general treatment, we come back free of charge.

Get a Free QuoteA cockroach treatment starts from $89. What changes the figure is the size of the building, how many areas are affected and the access. You get that number up front for Bondi Junction 2022, with no call-out fee. Every general treatment carries a 6-month warranty.
Same-day attendance is usually available. Our Eastern Suburbs technicians cover Bondi Junction daily, and you get a confirmed arrival time when you book.
Coastal suburbs hold moisture. Sandy soil drains but the air does not dry out, so the conditions under a Bondi Junction house suit cockroaches nearly all year.
Units near the water and houses set back from it, with damp sub-floors the common factor in both.
We do. A lot of our Bondi Junction work is rentals and strata, so the report, the products used and the areas treated are all recorded in writing for whoever needs them.
Yes. The products are registered for this use and applied at label rates, and placement keeps them away from where children and animals go. Let us know at booking about pets, fish tanks or anyone with asthma and we will plan the visit around it.
Generally no. We will tell you on arrival if any part of the job means keeping out of a room for a while, so there are no surprises.
Allow an hour to two hours for most properties. A bigger building, or one where the problem has spread, takes longer - and we would rather tell you that when quoting than rush it.
Every general treatment carries a 6-month warranty. If it is not holding, call us - that is exactly what the warranty is for.
All of them. Bondi Junction sits alongside Woollahra, Bondi, Bellevue Hill and Waverley in our coverage, and they are serviced on the same schedule.
