Seeing more of them at first is expected. They come out, move slowly and die - the bait and growth regulator doing their job. Sweep up and leave everything else alone.
Cockroach Control in Leonay 2750 — local technicians, fixed prices and a written report. A cockroach treatment starts from $89.
Real, verified feedback from people we've helped — straight from Google.
Where Leonay sits, who covers it and what it costs.
Our Penrith & the Outer West technicians cover Leonay and the rest of 2750 as a matter of course - it is only about 53.3 km west of the city. We travel out to Leonay on planned runs through the Penrith & the Outer West, so booking a day ahead gets you the best slot.
If you are near Lennox Village Shopping Centre, Penrith Homemaker Centre or Lapstone station, that is ground we cover constantly - it is the busiest part of Leonay for us.
Leonay is in the Penrith City and Hawkesbury area, and we cover Regentville, Emu Plains and Jamisontown on the same runs - handy if you own more than one property or your cockroach problem has come from next door. Bigger properties mean sheds, stables and stacked timber to check as well as the house.
What we see in Leonay is acreage properties with outbuildings that need checking alongside the house. Describing it accurately when you book saves a second visit.
The rest of 2750 is covered too, including the pockets around Glenbrook station and Leonay Oval.
You get a confirmed time, not a window. We plan the 2750 run the day before, and if Regentville or Emu Plains is on the same round there is often an earlier slot going.
Remove the water and you remove most of the harbourage value. We point out the damp spots in a Leonay kitchen for that reason, not as a criticism of the cleaning.
Heat is an accelerator. Through a Leonay summer the cycle from egg case to breeding adult runs weeks faster than it does in July, which is why a small problem noticed in spring is worth dealing with before Christmas.
Nobody gets bitten by a cockroach. The risk is what comes off their feet onto a Leonay benchtop after a trip through the drain line, which matters most in a house with small children or anyone with a weakened immune system.
Knowing the species tells us where the nest is and which treatment will work. Two of these photos are from our own Sydney jobs.

At 12 to 15 mm and light brown with two dark stripes behind the head, this is the species we find living permanently indoors. Warmth, food and moisture are all it needs, and it reproduces faster than any other cockroach here.

Reddish-brown and as long as 4 cm. It belongs to the drainage system - sewers, stormwater pits, grease traps, the subfloor - and arrives in the kitchen overnight from there.

Similar in size to the American cockroach, told apart by the yellow margins at the head and wing edges. An outdoor species - gardens, mulch, the subfloor - that makes its way in.

A small species with pale bands across the body that prefers warm, dry spots higher up, such as behind picture frames, in electrical housings and inside cupboards away from water.

An Elite job photo of German cockroach activity on a Sydney inspection. Egg cases, shed skins and droppings in the harbourage are how we work out what we are dealing with.

From a commercial kitchen we service: cockroach harbourage inside the machinery. Hollow legs, door seals and motor housings keep their heat overnight and are almost never cleaned.
Where and when you see them is often a better clue than size. Use this to tell us what you are seeing when you call.
| What you see | Likely species | Where the nest usually is | What treatment focuses on |
|---|---|---|---|
| Small cockroaches moving about in daylight, and droppings like ground pepper along shelf edges | German cockroach, well established by the time they show in the day | Door hinges, the voids behind white goods, the kickboard space, the inside of appliances | Indoor work: bait rotation, a growth regulator, and placement into every crack and crevice |
| The occasional large cockroach at night in a wet area rather than a group in the kitchen | American cockroach | Pits, the subfloor, and floor wastes that are no longer holding water | Drain and pit treatment plus subfloor work, with pipe gaps sealed afterwards |
| Big cockroaches with pale yellow margins, usually in the garage or arriving from outside | Australian cockroach | Garden mulch, leaf litter, stacked firewood and the roof cavity | Perimeter treatment outside, dusting the roof void, and dealing with garden harbourage |
| Small ones in a bedroom or living room - behind a picture, inside the TV cabinet - not near water | Brown-banded cockroach | Furniture and electrical gear that stays warm and dry | Baiting aimed at the living and sleeping rooms rather than the kitchen |
| A unit that goes quiet for a couple of weeks and then has cockroaches again | German cockroach coming through from another lot | The risers, bin room and wall cavities the units have in common | A treatment coordinated across the building. See strata pest control |

Roughly 30 eggs sit in a single case, and the female keeps it with her until it is nearly ready to hatch. Nothing you spray on a surface touches it.
A female will make several egg cases, and in kitchen warmth her young are breeding within weeks. Small numbers do not stay small.
A repellent product scatters rather than clears - deeper into the wall void, through to the unit next door - and leaves residue where food is prepared.
Cast skins, droppings and saliva are recognised asthma and allergy triggers, which makes a long-running infestation a health issue rather than just an annoyance.
What the technician does on the day, in the order it happens.
We identify the species, then go looking with a torch and mirror - hinges, inside appliances, behind the kickboards, into the wall voids. What we find decides the treatment, not a set routine.
Where grease or food build-up is feeding the colony, we show you what to clean first. Bait works far better when it is the most attractive food in the room.
We place gel in precise dots along their travel routes rather than spraying. They feed, return to the harbourage, and the effect spreads through the population by contact and feeding.
A growth regulator shuts down the next generation, and dust goes into the voids and cavities where gel simply cannot be placed.
The outdoor species need outdoor treatment - stormwater pits, floor wastes, under the floor and the roof cavity, which is where they actually live before they reach your kitchen.
You receive a written summary of what was found and done. Heavy activity after two weeks, or a return within the 6-month general-treatment warranty, brings us back free of charge.
Some DIY options help with a few stray cockroaches. An established German cockroach colony is a different job.
| Method | What it does well | Where it falls short |
|---|---|---|
| Aerosol surface spray | Kills on contact, so the visible one goes | Cannot reach an egg case or a void, and repels the remainder into the walls |
| Bug bombs and foggers | Covers a whole room's open surfaces at once | Harbourage is untouched, benches end up with residue, and the population spreads out |
| Retail bait stations | Can help if you have only seen a few | The bait volume is small, and competing food such as grease wins out |
| Professional gel bait rotation | Eaten in the hiding place and passed between cockroaches; formulations rotate if one is avoided | Depends on a clean kitchen, and the result comes over days to a fortnight |
| Insect growth regulator | Keeps nymphs from becoming breeding adults, so the egg-case cycle stops | It acts gradually, which is why it is always paired with a bait |
Ten minutes of preparation lets the bait reach more cockroaches.
Seeing more of them at first is expected. They come out, move slowly and die - the bait and growth regulator doing their job. Sweep up and leave everything else alone.
Numbers should drop away through this period. Do not wipe the bait out of hinges and cracks, and do not spray over it - cockroaches will stop taking bait that has been sprayed.
If it keeps going, let the agent or building manager know - cockroaches move between units readily. There is more on co-ordinated work on our apartment pest control page.

The pattern we see across Leonay and the wider Penrith & the Outer West is a surge after the first properly warm week, then steady pressure until autumn. Treating before that surge is far cheaper than treating after it.
From Lennox Village Shopping Centre through to the Regentville side of Leonay, it is all one service area for us - same price, same response time.
Floor wastes, overflow pipes and the gap where a waste pipe passes through a cupboard base are all cockroach routes. A dry floor waste in a Leonay laundry is an open door, and a cup of water down it once a week closes it.
Treatment follows identification. Indoor German cockroaches need bait and a growth regulator; drain-dwelling species need the pits and subfloor treated.
Bait placed in cracks and hinges, not a blanket spray over food preparation surfaces.
We cover everything from one apartment to a full commercial kitchen, scheduled around your trading hours.
