Where Lindfield sits, who covers it and what it costs.
We treat cockroaches right across 2070. Lindfield is roughly 10.7 km north of the city, which puts it well inside the Upper North Shore run our technicians work. We run Lindfield on a regular route, and same-day attendance is usually available.
The Lindfield addresses we attend cluster around Lindfield station and Millwood Park. Sir Phillip Game Reserve is another part of the suburb we are called to often.
We work under the Ku-ring-gai and Hornsby area here, and Killara, East Lindfield and Roseville are all on the same route, which matters when cockroach problems are moving between adjoining properties. With bushland close by there is constant pressure from outside, so the perimeter and the fence line get as much attention as the house.
Most Lindfield bookings come in as houses backing onto a reserve, where the pressure is constant from outside. Say which one applies when you call 1300 313 373 and the technician will have the right products on the van.
We cover the remainder of 2070 as well, from Lindfield Shopping Village through to Roseville Golf Course.
Your appointment is confirmed the day before with a real arrival time. Because Killara and East Lindfield are covered on the same round, 2070 often has an earlier slot available.
German cockroaches are small, light brown, and stay indoors near warmth and water. Australian and smoky-brown cockroaches are bigger, darker and come in from outside. In Lindfield we see both, and they need completely different treatments - one is a kitchen job, the other is a perimeter job.
One at night is a cockroach. One at midday is a population. When harbourage fills up they are forced into the open to find somewhere else, which is why daytime activity changes how we scope the job.
The usual route into a Lindfield home is carried, not crawled. Appliance deliveries, recycled cartons and second-hand white goods are the three we trace most often.
Knowing the species tells us where the nest is and which treatment will work. Two of these photos are from our own Sydney jobs.

Around 12 to 15 mm, light brown, two dark stripes running back from the head. It never really leaves the building - warmth, a food source and a little moisture keep it going, and it out-breeds every other cockroach in a kitchen.

The big reddish-brown one, reaching around 4 cm. Its home is the drain line, the grease trap, the stormwater pit or the subfloor - it visits the kitchen, it does not live there.

As big as the American but marked with pale yellow along the edge of the wings and behind the head. The name misleads: this one lives outside in mulch and garden beds and only comes indoors to look about.

A small cockroach with light bands across the body, found away from water in warm dry positions: behind frames, in electrical fittings, in cupboards at height.

From one of our own inspections: German cockroach harbourage in a Sydney kitchen. The droppings, shed skins and egg cases are what we read to judge the species and the size of the population.

Taken on an Elite commercial job - harbourage inside the equipment itself. Motor cavities, door seals and hollow legs stay warm all night and rarely see a cloth.
Where and when you see them is often a better clue than size. Use this to tell us what you are seeing when you call.
| What you see | Likely species | Where the nest usually is | What treatment focuses on |
|---|---|---|---|
| Small cockroaches in the kitchen during the day, plus pepper-like droppings in cupboard corners | German cockroach, usually a heavy infestation | Hinges, dishwasher and fridge cavities, behind the kickboards, inside appliances | Gel bait rotation, growth regulator and crack-and-crevice treatment inside |
| A single big one after dark by the laundry tub, the bathroom or a floor drain | American cockroach | Stormwater and sewer pits, the space under the floor, floor wastes that have dried out | Treating the pits and drains, the subfloor, and sealing the gaps where pipes pass through |
| Yellow-edged cockroaches in the garage, or coming through a door from the garden | Australian cockroach | Mulch and leaf litter, woodpiles, and the roof void | External perimeter, a dusting through the roof void, and clearing garden harbourage |
| Small cockroaches behind frames and in the TV cabinet, nowhere near a tap | Brown-banded cockroach | Warm dry furniture, and electrical appliances that run warm | Baiting concentrated in the rooms you live and sleep in |
| An apartment where they come back a few weeks after you treated it yourself | German cockroach travelling between lots | The service risers, the bin room and the wall cavities the units share | Treating the building as one job. See strata pest control |

Roughly 30 eggs sit in a single case, and the female keeps it with her until it is nearly ready to hatch. Nothing you spray on a surface touches it.
A female will make several egg cases, and in kitchen warmth her young are breeding within weeks. Small numbers do not stay small.
Foggers and retail sprays drive the population further into cavities and across into neighbouring units, while leaving residue on the surfaces you cook on.
The allergen load - droppings, saliva, cast skins - is a recognised trigger for asthma and allergies, which is why clearing an infestation properly matters beyond the nuisance.
What the technician does on the day, in the order it happens.
We confirm the species and use a torch and inspection mirror to find harbourage: hinges, appliance housings, kickboards and wall voids. The treatment follows what we find, not a standard routine.
Grease and food residue keep a colony going, so we show you the spots that matter most. Bait only wins if it is the best meal in the room.
Dots of professional gel are placed in the cracks they run through. One feeds, carries it back to the harbourage, and it works through the colony from the inside.
A growth regulator shuts down the next generation, and dust goes into the voids and cavities where gel simply cannot be placed.
The outdoor species need outdoor treatment - stormwater pits, floor wastes, under the floor and the roof cavity, which is where they actually live before they reach your kitchen.
A written summary comes with the job. Heavy activity still there after two weeks, or a return within 6 months of a general treatment, and we come back for nothing.
Some DIY options help with a few stray cockroaches. An established German cockroach colony is a different job.
| Method | What it does well | Where it falls short |
|---|---|---|
| Aerosol surface spray | Deals with the individual in front of you | Never touches the egg cases or the voids, and drives the rest further into the walls |
| Bug bombs and foggers | Easy coverage of the exposed parts of a room | Never reaches the hiding places, leaves residue where you cook, and scatters them |
| Retail bait stations | Useful for a light problem | Low bait volume, and easily out-competed by crumbs and grease |
| Professional gel bait rotation | Eaten and shared in the hiding places; formulations can be rotated if cockroaches avoid one | Needs a clean kitchen and time to work, usually days to a couple of weeks |
| Insect growth regulator | Prevents the young reaching breeding age, which ends the egg-case cycle | Slow by design, so we never use it on its own - it goes in with bait |
Ten minutes of preparation lets the bait reach more cockroaches.
You may see cockroaches out in daylight, moving slowly or dying on the floor. This is the bait and growth regulator starting to work. Sweep them up and keep going.
Through the second week activity should fall away. Leave the bait in place in hinges and cracks, and resist spraying anything over it, which puts cockroaches off feeding.
Where activity continues, raise it with your agent or strata manager, because they cross between lots. See apartment pest control for how a building-wide treatment runs.
Steady activity at the two-week mark, or a return inside 6 months of a general treatment, means a warranty re-treatment - ring 1300 313 373.
Cockroaches do not respect a lease boundary. In a Lindfield block they move through service risers, shared drains and the cavity between units, so treating one kitchen in a building with a problem is money spent on a holding pattern.
The pattern we see across Lindfield and the wider Upper North Shore is a surge after the first properly warm week, then steady pressure until autumn. Treating before that surge is far cheaper than treating after it.
A good share of our Lindfield work sits close to Sir Phillip Game Reserve, though the back streets and the Killara boundary are just as familiar.
Treatment follows identification. Indoor German cockroaches need bait and a growth regulator; drain-dwelling species need the pits and subfloor treated.
We bait into cracks and hinges instead of spraying benchtops, because that is where food is prepared.
We cover everything from one apartment to a full commercial kitchen, scheduled around your trading hours.
If cockroaches return inside 6 months of a general treatment, we come back free of charge.

At roughly 10.7 km north of the city, Lindfield is on a route we run regularly. Same-day attendance is usually available. You will be given a time, not a window.
Backing onto bush means constant pressure from outside. cockroaches are already established in the reserve, and the house is simply the next thing they reach.
Mostly detached housing backing onto reserve. Proofing and the perimeter are what actually hold here.
We do. A lot of our Lindfield work is rentals and strata, so the report, the products used and the areas treated are all recorded in writing for whoever needs them.
It is, as long as you follow what we tell you on the day - usually keeping off treated surfaces for a couple of hours. Let us know at booking about young children, pets or an aquarium.
Usually not. Most of the work is done with you in the house, and where a room does need to be clear it is for a short period we will tell you about on arrival.
Usually between one and two hours on site. Bigger properties and heavier infestations take more, and that is included in the quote rather than added afterwards.
Every general treatment carries a 6-month warranty. That is the point of the warranty - you do not pay twice for the same problem.
Yes - we work right across the Ku-ring-gai and Hornsby area, which takes in Lindfield and the suburbs around it.
