What we cover in Stanmore, and how quickly we can get there.
We treat cockroaches right across 2048. Stanmore is roughly 4.8 km south-west of the city, which puts it well inside the Inner West run our technicians work. Our technicians are through Stanmore most days, so same-day attendance is usually available.
Around Stanmore we work the pockets near Norton Plaza, Stanmore station and Weekley Park most often, so the van is rarely far away when a job comes in.
We work under the Inner West, Burwood, Strathfield and Canada Bay area here, and Enmore, Camperdown and Petersham are all on the same route, which matters when cockroach problems are moving between adjoining properties. The building stock is close-packed, so we look at what the property adjoins before deciding where product goes.
Most Stanmore bookings come in as older semis with a paved rear courtyard and a sub-floor that no longer dries out. Say which one applies when you call 1300 313 373 and the technician will have the right products on the van.
The whole of 2048 is covered, Fanny Durack Aquatic Centre included.
Bookings for 2048 are confirmed the day before with a set arrival time, not an all-day window. Jobs at Enmore and Camperdown often share the same run, which is how earlier slots come up.
Nobody gets bitten by a cockroach. The risk is what comes off their feet onto a Stanmore benchtop after a trip through the drain line, which matters most in a house with small children or anyone with a weakened immune system.
People assume it is about crumbs. It is mostly about moisture. The leaking waste under a Stanmore sink, condensation behind the fridge or a shower recess that never dries will hold a population on its own.
They need three things: warmth, damp and somewhere tight to wedge into. In a Stanmore kitchen that describes the back of the fridge, the cavity behind the splashback and the joint where the bench meets the wall, and that is exactly where product has to go.
Knowing the species tells us where the nest is and which treatment will work. Two of these photos are from our own Sydney jobs.

Light brown with two dark stripes behind the head, roughly 12 to 15 mm long. It lives indoors near warmth, food and moisture, and it is the species that breeds fastest inside a kitchen.

Up to roughly 4 cm long and reddish-brown. You find it in sewers, pits, grease traps and under the floor, and it travels up through drains after dark rather than nesting indoors.

As big as the American but marked with pale yellow along the edge of the wings and behind the head. The name misleads: this one lives outside in mulch and garden beds and only comes indoors to look about.

A small species with pale bands across the body that prefers warm, dry spots higher up, such as behind picture frames, in electrical housings and inside cupboards away from water.

One of our Sydney inspections, showing German cockroach activity. The harbourage itself tells the story: droppings, cast skins and egg cases give us both the species and the scale.

Photo from an Elite job: cockroach harbourage inside commercial kitchen equipment. Motor housings, door seals and hollow legs stay warm overnight and are rarely cleaned.
Where and when you see them is often a better clue than size. Use this to tell us what you are seeing when you call.
| What you see | Likely species | Where the nest usually is | What treatment focuses on |
|---|---|---|---|
| Little ones out on the bench while the lights are on, with gritty black specks in cupboard corners | German cockroach - daytime activity means a large population | Cupboard hinges, the warm cavities behind the dishwasher and fridge, under kickboards, inside appliance housings | Rotated gel baits, an insect growth regulator, and product worked into cracks and crevices |
| A single big one after dark by the laundry tub, the bathroom or a floor drain | American cockroach | Stormwater and sewer pits, the space under the floor, floor wastes that have dried out | Treating the pits and drains, the subfloor, and sealing the gaps where pipes pass through |
| Sizeable cockroaches with pale edging that appear in the garage or at a back door | Australian cockroach | Leaf litter and mulch, stacked timber, and the roof cavity | Treating the perimeter, dusting the roof void, and reducing harbourage in the garden |
| Little banded cockroaches behind a picture frame or inside the TV unit, away from any water | Brown-banded cockroach | Dry warm spots in furniture and inside electrical gear | Targeted baiting in the rooms you live and sleep in, not the kitchen |
| Cockroaches in a unit that keep returning weeks after your own treatment | German cockroach moving between units | Shared service risers, bin rooms and wall cavities | A coordinated building treatment. See strata pest control |

A German cockroach egg case holds about 30 eggs and travels with the female until hatching is close. Kill the adults you can see and the next generation still arrives.
Multiply several egg cases per female by nymphs that mature in a few warm weeks and you have the reason a minor sighting turns into an infestation.
Because they repel, bombs and aerosols spread the problem: deeper into the walls, into the neighbouring unit, and over the surfaces you prepare food on.
Droppings, saliva and shed skins are established asthma and allergy triggers. An infestation left in place is a health problem, not only an unpleasant one.
What the technician does on the day, in the order it happens.
We identify the species, then go looking with a torch and mirror - hinges, inside appliances, behind the kickboards, into the wall voids. What we find decides the treatment, not a set routine.
Grease and food residue keep a colony going, so we show you the spots that matter most. Bait only wins if it is the best meal in the room.
We place gel in precise dots along their travel routes rather than spraying. They feed, return to the harbourage, and the effect spreads through the population by contact and feeding.
An insect growth regulator stops nymphs becoming breeding adults, and dust goes into wall voids and cavities where gel cannot reach.
With American and Australian cockroaches the work is outside the kitchen: the pits, the floor wastes, the subfloor and the roof void, because that is where they breed.
Everything is recorded in writing. Still seeing heavy activity after a fortnight, or it returns inside the 6-month warranty on a general treatment? We return at no cost.
Some DIY options help with a few stray cockroaches. An established German cockroach colony is a different job.
| Method | What it does well | Where it falls short |
|---|---|---|
| Aerosol surface spray | Takes care of the one in front of you | Does nothing to egg cases or voids, and drives the rest deeper into the walls |
| Bug bombs and foggers | Gets product onto every open surface at once | Harbourage is missed, benches end up with residue, and the colony splits up |
| Retail bait stations | Can help if you have only seen a few | The bait volume is small, and competing food such as grease wins out |
| Professional gel bait rotation | Fed on inside the harbourage and shared through the colony, with the option to swap formulations | Only works with the food competition removed, and needs days to two weeks |
| Insect growth regulator | Stops nymphs maturing into breeding adults, which breaks the egg-case cycle | Works slowly, so it is always paired with bait |
Ten minutes of preparation lets the bait reach more cockroaches.

You should see a steady decline. Leave the gel where we put it in hinges and cracks, and keep your own insecticide away from it, or they will refuse to feed.
If it keeps going, let the agent or building manager know - cockroaches move between units readily. There is more on co-ordinated work on our apartment pest control page.
Steady activity at the two-week mark, or a return inside 6 months of a general treatment, means a warranty re-treatment - ring 1300 313 373.
If your Stanmore neighbour has cockroaches, you have a supply line. The treatment still works, but it needs the entry points sealed and ideally the adjoining property done at the same time.
From Norton Plaza through to the Enmore side of Stanmore, it is all one service area for us - same price, same response time.
Floor wastes, overflow pipes and the gap where a waste pipe passes through a cupboard base are all cockroach routes. A dry floor waste in a Stanmore laundry is an open door, and a cup of water down it once a week closes it.
German cockroaches get baits and growth regulators, and drain species get pit and subfloor work. The species decides the treatment.
Bait placed in cracks and hinges, not a blanket spray over food preparation surfaces.
Single units through to commercial kitchens, with food premises worked outside trading hours.
Six months on a general treatment - if they come back inside it, so do we, at no charge.

At roughly 4.8 km south-west of the city, Stanmore is on a route we run regularly. Same-day attendance is usually available. You will be given a time, not a window.
Terraces and semis share walls, roof voids and sub-floors, so cockroaches move between houses without ever going outside. That is the single biggest factor here.
Joined older housing, often with a paved rear courtyard holding damp against the wall. Both things shape the treatment.
Yes. Houses, townhouses, units, strata common property, rentals and commercial sites in Stanmore 2048 are all part of what we do, and the paperwork is the kind agents accept.
Yes, when it is applied properly. We use registered products at label rates and tell you which areas to keep clear and for how long. Mention pets, fish tanks or allergies when you book.
Normally you can stay. Some treatments mean keeping out of a particular room briefly, and we will flag that when we arrive so you can plan around it.
Allow an hour to two hours for most properties. A bigger building, or one where the problem has spread, takes longer - and we would rather tell you that when quoting than rush it.
Every general treatment carries a 6-month warranty. So if they turn up again within the warranty, ring us and we will attend.
All of them. Stanmore sits alongside Enmore, Camperdown, Petersham and Leichhardt in our coverage, and they are serviced on the same schedule.
