Cockroach Control in Sydenham 2044 — local technicians, fixed prices and a written report. A cockroach treatment starts from $89.
Real, verified feedback from people we've helped — straight from Google.
Where Sydenham sits, who covers it and what it costs.
Sydenham is part of the Inner West, 6.5 km or so south-west of the GPO, and 2044 is a postcode we know well. Our technicians are through Sydenham most days, so same-day attendance is usually available.
Our Sydenham work takes in the streets by Sydenham station and Memory Reserve, through to Annette Kellerman Aquatic Centre at the other end.
This is the Inner West, Burwood, Strathfield and Canada Bay area, and our runs here also take in St Peters, Tempe and Marrickville. Terraces, semis and converted blocks share cavities and risers, which is why a single-unit treatment often does not hold on its own.
The cockroach calls we take from Sydenham are mostly apartments and converted blocks where the kitchen backs onto a service riser. If yours is one of them, mention it when you ring 1300 313 373 - it changes what the technician brings.
All of 2044 falls inside the area we service.
We confirm your slot the day before and arrive at a stated time. St Peters and Tempe sit on the same run, so earlier appointments in 2044 come up regularly.
The usual route into a Sydenham home is carried, not crawled. Appliance deliveries, recycled cartons and second-hand white goods are the three we trace most often.
Nobody gets bitten by a cockroach. The risk is what comes off their feet onto a Sydenham benchtop after a trip through the drain line, which matters most in a house with small children or anyone with a weakened immune system.
Roughly forty juveniles come out of one case, and they are breeding themselves inside ten weeks. Unless a Sydenham treatment carries something that stops nymphs maturing, you are only ever resetting the clock.
Knowing the species tells us where the nest is and which treatment will work. Two of these photos are from our own Sydney jobs.

At 12 to 15 mm and light brown with two dark stripes behind the head, this is the species we find living permanently indoors. Warmth, food and moisture are all it needs, and it reproduces faster than any other cockroach here.

Large and reddish-brown, up to about 4 cm. It lives in sewers, stormwater pits, grease traps and subfloors, and comes up through drains at night rather than breeding in the kitchen.

Similar in size to the American cockroach but with pale yellow edges near the head and along the wings. Despite the name it is an outdoor species that comes in from gardens, mulch and subfloors.

A small banded cockroach that favours warmth and dryness rather than moisture. Look for it high up: behind frames, inside electrical enclosures and in cupboards well away from the sink.

Photo from an Elite job: German cockroach activity found during a Sydney inspection. Droppings, cast skins and egg cases in the harbourage tell us the species and how established it is.

Taken on an Elite commercial job - harbourage inside the equipment itself. Motor cavities, door seals and hollow legs stay warm all night and rarely see a cloth.
Where and when you see them is often a better clue than size. Use this to tell us what you are seeing when you call.
| What you see | Likely species | Where the nest usually is | What treatment focuses on |
|---|---|---|---|
| Little ones out on the bench while the lights are on, with gritty black specks in cupboard corners | German cockroach - daytime activity means a large population | Cupboard hinges, the warm cavities behind the dishwasher and fridge, under kickboards, inside appliance housings | Rotated gel baits, an insect growth regulator, and product worked into cracks and crevices |
| Big cockroaches seen after dark near a floor waste, the bathroom or the laundry | American cockroach | Sewer and stormwater pits and the subfloor - plus dried-out waste traps as the way in | We treat the pits, the drain lines and the subfloor, then seal around the pipework |
| Big yellow-margined cockroaches that seem to come from the garden rather than the kitchen | Australian cockroach | Garden mulch, leaf litter and woodpiles, plus the roof cavity | Treating outside: the perimeter, the roof void, and the harbourage in the beds themselves |
| Small cockroaches turning up in bedrooms and living rooms, never around the sink | Brown-banded cockroach | Warm dry furniture, and the inside of electrical appliances | Bait placed through the living and sleeping areas where they actually are |
| A unit that goes quiet for a couple of weeks and then has cockroaches again | German cockroach coming through from another lot | The risers, bin room and wall cavities the units have in common | A treatment coordinated across the building. See strata pest control |

Roughly 30 eggs sit in a single case, and the female keeps it with her until it is nearly ready to hatch. Nothing you spray on a surface touches it.
Multiply several egg cases per female by nymphs that mature in a few warm weeks and you have the reason a minor sighting turns into an infestation.
Bombs and supermarket sprays push cockroaches deeper into wall voids and into the unit next door, and can contaminate the surfaces you prepare food on.
What they leave behind matters: droppings, saliva and cast skins are known asthma and allergy triggers, so this is a health question as much as a comfort one.
What the technician does on the day, in the order it happens.
We identify the species, then go looking with a torch and mirror - hinges, inside appliances, behind the kickboards, into the wall voids. What we find decides the treatment, not a set routine.
If grease or food residue is sustaining the population, we point out exactly what to clean and in what order. Bait competes with whatever else is available, so this step changes the result.
Professional gel goes down as small dots inside the cracks they already use. A cockroach feeds, goes home, and the product moves through the rest of the colony from there.
The growth regulator keeps nymphs from ever breeding; dust handles the wall voids and cavities that no gel dot can reach.
For American and Australian cockroaches we treat pits, floor wastes, the subfloor and roof void, because those species live outside the kitchen and travel in.
We leave you a written record of the job. If it is still heavy at two weeks, or comes back inside the 6 months a general treatment carries, we return at no charge.
Some DIY options help with a few stray cockroaches. An established German cockroach colony is a different job.
| Method | What it does well | Where it falls short |
|---|---|---|
| Aerosol surface spray | Kills on contact, so the visible one goes | Cannot reach an egg case or a void, and repels the remainder into the walls |
| Bug bombs and foggers | Covers open surfaces in a room | Misses harbourage, leaves residue on benches, and can scatter the colony |
| Retail bait stations | Can help if you have only seen a few | The bait volume is small, and competing food such as grease wins out |
| Professional gel bait rotation | Eaten in the hiding place and passed between cockroaches; formulations rotate if one is avoided | Depends on a clean kitchen, and the result comes over days to a fortnight |
| Insect growth regulator | Stops the young ever reaching breeding age, which ends the egg-case cycle | Acts slowly by design, so bait always goes in with it |
Ten minutes of preparation lets the bait reach more cockroaches.
Seeing more of them at first is expected. They come out, move slowly and die - the bait and growth regulator doing their job. Sweep up and leave everything else alone.
Expect activity to taper off. The bait dots in hinges and cracks need to stay put, and nothing should be sprayed over them - that is what makes cockroaches avoid bait.
If it keeps going, let the agent or building manager know - cockroaches move between units readily. There is more on co-ordinated work on our apartment pest control page.
Two weeks on and still seeing them regularly, or back inside 6 months of a general treatment? That is a warranty call - 1300 313 373.
If your Sydenham neighbour has cockroaches, you have a supply line. The treatment still works, but it needs the entry points sealed and ideally the adjoining property done at the same time.
Humidity is the driver. In the Inner West the summer months bring the fastest breeding, and the mild winters mean a population indoors never really slows - it just gets quieter.
In older Sydenham buildings a cockroach population can live entirely in the drain line and come up at night. Treating the kitchen and ignoring the pipework means you are treating the visitors, not the residents.
The species sets the method - gel and growth regulator indoors for German cockroaches, pits and subfloor for the drain dwellers.
Gel goes into the cracks and hinges. Nothing gets sprayed across the bench you prepare food on.
Single units through to commercial kitchens, with food premises worked outside trading hours.

Get a Free QuoteA cockroach treatment starts from $89. What changes the figure is the size of the building, how many areas are affected and the access. You get that number up front for Sydenham 2044, with no call-out fee. Every general treatment carries a 6-month warranty.
Same-day attendance is usually available. We are about 6.5 km south-west of the city here, and Sydenham is covered by the Inner West team.
Most of this area is terrace, semi and converted block, and those share more than people realise - cavities, roof spaces, drainage. cockroaches use all of it.
Terraces, semis and converted blocks, which share structure - so we check what adjoins the property rather than treating it as a standalone building.
We do all of those. A good share of the Sydenham jobs we run are tenanted or strata properties, so the written record comes as standard.
It is, applied properly. We put product into cracks, voids and stations rather than across open surfaces, and we will tell you what to stay off and for how long before we leave.
You do not normally need to leave. Anything requiring an empty room is short, and you will know about it before the work starts.
Usually between one and two hours on site. Bigger properties and heavier infestations take more, and that is included in the quote rather than added afterwards.
Every general treatment carries a 6-month warranty. Ring us if activity picks up again inside that period and we will arrange the return.
We cover the whole of Sydenham, from the streets around Sydenham station out to the suburb boundary and on into St Peters.
