The web-builders that rest on treated walls, eaves and frames: black house spiders, redbacks and garage daddy long-legs.
- Less webbing on the house
- Egg sacs taken away before the hatch
- Fewer redbacks round the furniture and fences
Spider Control in Sydney 2000 — local technicians, fixed prices and a written report. Spider treatment starts from $89.
Real, verified feedback from people we've helped — straight from Google.
Where Sydney sits, who covers it and what it costs.
We treat spiders right across 2000. Sydney is roughly 0.3 km south-west of the city, which puts it well inside the Sydney CBD & Inner City run our technicians work. Our technicians are through Sydney most days, so same-day attendance is usually available.
Most weeks we are somewhere between Wynyard Park and Tumbalong Park in Sydney, and Westfield Sydney is close enough to be on the same run.
We cover Barangaroo, Millers Point and Haymarket on the same runs as Sydney, which helps when spider problems are moving between neighbouring properties. Nearly everything here is apartments, so the question is always whether the problem is in your flat or in the building - the risers, the bin room, the wall cavities between lots.
Sydney jobs tend to be units in towers where the kitchen backs onto shared services. Let us know which when you ring and we will plan the visit around it.
We also work the streets near Central Park Mall and across toward Town Hall station - the whole of 2000 is covered.
When you book, we confirm the 2000 run the day before and give you an arrival time rather than a window. If we are already out at Barangaroo or Millers Point that morning, we will usually offer you the earlier slot.
Spiders go where the food is. A Sydney house with webs returning within days of clearing them has a flying-insect population feeding them, and treating that is what keeps the webs away.
Treating spiders without reducing what they eat gives a shorter result. We will tell you what is drawing the insects to a Sydney property as part of the job.
The Sydney CBD & Inner City pattern is a build-up from September, heaviest through January and February, easing by April. Treating before the build-up is far more effective.
Two of these warrant real care. The rest are mostly a nuisance, but they are why webs reappear.

Glossy black and 2 to 4 cm long. It digs silk-lined burrows in cool, sheltered ground under rocks, logs and houses, and the males wander in summer and autumn to find females. A bite is a medical emergency.

The female is black with a red back stripe and webs untidily in dry sheltered places: under chairs, in letterboxes, beneath pot rims, on pool fences, in sheds. A bite may cause severe pain and warrants medical advice.

Dark and stocky, with lacy, funnel-shaped webs in window frames, brick gaps and eaves. It is timid, but its webs collect dust and return quickly without treatment.

Dark and slim with a pale-tipped abdomen, it hunts rather than builds webs, coming indoors at night after other spiders and sometimes into bedding. Painful bites, but no ulcers in a large study.

A big flat spider that moves fast, living under bark, inside wall cavities and behind curtains. Frightening in a car or bedroom but genuinely shy. It is a hunter, not a web-builder, so controlling its prey reduces the numbers returning.

From an Elite job - a huntsman located during an outside inspection. Eaves, window heads, meter boxes and garden edges are inspected before we treat.
General guidance based on Australian Museum and healthdirect advice. It is not a substitute for medical care. In an emergency call 000, and for advice call the Poisons Information Centre on 13 11 26.
| Spider | Risk | First aid | Get help |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sydney funnel-web | Potentially fatal venom that affects the nervous system | Pressure immobilisation bandage, snake-bite style, and keep them from moving | Call 000 immediately |
| Mouse spider | Bites are uncommon but have caused serious, funnel-web-like effects | Assume funnel-web for any large black spider bite and apply pressure immobilisation | Call 000 immediately |
| Redback | Increasingly severe pain, sweating and feeling unwell; antivenom exists | Do NOT apply a pressure bandage. Wash the area, then a cloth-wrapped cold pack | Seek medical care if pain is severe or symptoms develop |
| White-tailed spider | Painful with redness and itching; a 130-bite study recorded no ulcers | Wash it and put on a cold pack | See a doctor if symptoms worsen or persist |
| Black house spider, huntsman and others | Normally local pain with some swelling | Wash it and apply a cold pack | See a doctor if you feel unwell or symptoms persist |
If you are not sure what bit you and it was a large black spider, assume funnel-web and call 000. A pest treatment reduces spider numbers; it cannot guarantee a funnel-web will never wander in.

Male funnel-webs are out of their burrows mostly in summer and autumn looking for females, the Australian Museum notes. That is the encounter season.
Rain followed by a humid night means more wandering males, and they shelter in outdoor shoes, laundry on the floor, garages and under-door gaps.
Backyard pools catch wandering males, and they survive underwater for hours. Use the skimmer net every time, never your hand.
Central Coast in the north, the Georges River in the south, and west to roughly Baulkham Hills - mostly bushy, sheltered suburbs.
Outside first, because that is where most spiders live and breed.
The inspection is a walk round with you, covering eaves, window frames, fences, rockeries, retaining walls, subfloor vents and garden edges.
Webs and egg sacs are brushed down from eaves, pergolas, outdoor furniture and garages, so new spiderlings do not hatch into the treated area.
A residual treatment is applied across external walls, eaves, window and door frames, weep holes and resting places.
If funnel-webs are a risk on the property, the sheltered ground beside the house gets treated - rockeries, retaining walls, sleepers, subfloor edges.
Inside, we spot treat corners, skirting and wardrobes as needed, and dust the roof void and subfloor where access allows.

Hunters like huntsmen and white-tails meet fewer treated surfaces, so controlling their prey is what reduces them in the longer term.
That a wandering male will never cross the yard on a humid night. What treatment does is reduce harbourage near the house; first aid knowledge and simple habits still matter.
Orb weavers webbing across garden paths do no harm. Webs near doors and walkways come down, but some left in the garden help control flying insects.
Simple habits that matter most in funnel-web and redback country.
| Season | What spiders are doing | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Spring (Sept to Nov) | Hatching egg sacs, with webs appearing fast on eaves and fences | Get a treatment booked and webs cleared before spiderlings spread |
| Summer (Dec to Feb) | Funnel-web males are on the move and redbacks are active around furniture outside | Check pools, shoes and outdoor spaces; make sure door seals are in place |
| Autumn (Mar to May) | Funnel-web males continue to move about, especially following rain | Stay alert on humid nights; wear gloves for garden work |
| Winter (Jun to Aug) | Webs outside become scarce; huntsmen shelter indoors and in cars | A sensible time to pest-proof gaps before spring |
Anywhere in Sydney is the same price and the same response, whether it backs onto reserve or sits in the middle of the suburb.
Indoor sightings are usually a proofing issue rather than an infestation. Gaps under doors, unscreened vents and wall penetrations account for most of what we find inside.
The practical advice for a Sydney family is the dull kind that works: shoes shaken out, gloves for the garden, a pressure immobilisation bandage in the kit, and 000 and 13 11 26 saved in the phone.
You are told which species we found and what each one means for your household.
Beyond the eaves: the ground harbourage alongside the house is treated as well.

Get a Free QuoteSpider treatment starts from $89. Two things move it: how big the place is, and how far it has already spread. We work that out on the phone or on site and tell you the figure before anything starts in Sydney. Every general treatment carries a 6-month warranty.
Same-day attendance is usually available. Our Sydney CBD & Inner City technicians cover Sydney daily, and you get a confirmed arrival time when you book.
What drives it in a high-density pocket is the common property. Risers, bin rooms and wall cavities connect every lot, so spiders are never really dealt with one apartment at a time.
Nearly all units. That changes the method - gels and baits into cavities rather than anything sprayed across shared surfaces.
We do. A lot of our Sydney work is rentals and strata, so the report, the products used and the areas treated are all recorded in writing for whoever needs them.
Yes. Everything we use is registered for the purpose and applied at label rates, and we place product where people and animals do not go. Tell us about pets, aquariums or anyone with a respiratory condition at booking.
Generally no. We will tell you on arrival if any part of the job means keeping out of a room for a while, so there are no surprises.
Between one and two hours covers the majority of jobs. We do not book so tightly that a technician has to cut a job short.
Every general treatment carries a 6-month warranty. A return visit inside that period does not cost you anything.
We do. Sydney and Barangaroo, Millers Point, Haymarket and Pyrmont are all on the same route, which helps if you own more than one property in the area.
