Repairing the damage
Hold the repairs until elimination is confirmed - taking out the timber early removes the bait. Then have a builder assess the structural members, bearers and studs and roof timbers included.

What we cover in Chatswood, and how quickly we can get there.
Chatswood is part of the Lower North Shore, 8.6 km or so north of the GPO, and 2067 is a postcode we know well. Our technicians are through Chatswood most days, so same-day attendance is usually available.
Our Chatswood work takes in the streets by Kenneth Slessor Park and Blue Gum Reserve, through to Lemon Grove Shopping Centre at the other end.
North Sydney, Mosman, Willoughby, Lane Cove and Hunters Hill is the council area for Chatswood, and we treat Chatswood West, Artarmon and Lane Cove North on the same schedule. The mix here is older houses and converted blocks near the water, where moisture under the floor is usually part of the story.
Most Chatswood bookings come in as waterfront and near-waterfront homes with damp sub-floors and mature gardens. Say which one applies when you call 1300 313 373 and the technician will have the right products on the van.
We also work the streets near Chatswood Golf Club and across toward Chatswood station - the whole of 2067 is covered.
The 2067 run is set the day before and you are given an arrival time. Where Chatswood West and Artarmon fall on the same round, we can usually bring the visit forward.
Anything with cellulose in it is food: the frame, yes, but also joinery, floorboards, the lining paper on plasterboard, and the boxes stacked in the garage.
Alates look like flying ants. The giveaway is the wings: termite wings are all the same length and shed in piles, ant wings are not. Finding them in a Chatswood house means a mature colony nearby.
Anything that puts soil or timber against the structure is a bridge - planter boxes, sleeper walls, firewood stacked on the ground. Clearing those does more for a Chatswood home than most products.
Photos from our own Sydney termite jobs. Most properties need one primary method, and some need two working together.

We install stations in the soil around the perimeter. They hold timber first; when termites start feeding on it we replace that with bait, and they take it home to the nest.

We come back on a schedule, open each station, record the feeding and refill the bait. Skipped visits are the single most common reason a baiting program does not finish.

Bait fitted directly over live workings in a wall or frame. There is no waiting for termites to discover it - they are already there.

We trench along the footings and apply termiticide, drilling and injecting through paths and slabs where trenching is not possible, so the treated zone is continuous.

With a suspended floor the piers and wall lines are part of the job. Most concealed termite activity we find started under the house.

We show you where timber has been eaten so a builder can assess repairs, which should wait until the colony is confirmed dead.
What you do in the first day or two affects how quickly the colony can be eliminated.
A can of spray takes out the ones you can see and sends the rest away from that spot - which removes the one place bait could have reached them.
Don't pull the workings apart. Exposed tubes dry and the colony retreats, which costs time on the treatment.
If you can, photograph what you found - tubing, damaged timber, flying insects - and tell us where. It shapes how we scope the inspection.
Have a look for a dripping tap, a hot water overflow or an air conditioner drain near where you found them. Damp soil is an attractant and has to be dealt with as well.
Every day of delay is more timber gone. Active termite inspections are available same or next day anywhere in Sydney.
In strata, termites in your lot very often involve common property, so the manager needs to hear about it early rather than late.
A licensed Sydney technician will talk it through and give you a fixed quote within half an hour.
Both are recognised approaches for existing buildings under AS 3660.2. The right choice depends on your property.
| Consideration | Baiting system | Chemical soil barrier | Combination |
|---|---|---|---|
| Main job | Eliminates the colony feeding on the building | Creates a treated zone so termites travelling through the soil are affected | Removes the active colony and protects against new ones |
| Method of install | Soil stations round the perimeter and bait onto the workings themselves | Trenching at the footings with drilling and injection through hard surfaces | Bait phase first, soil barrier second |
| Site disturbance | Almost none: no drilling through paths, no excavating garden beds | Small sealed drill holes in paving, and trenching where there are gardens | Spread across the staged visits |
| Ongoing maintenance | Regular scheduled station checks, which double as ongoing monitoring | How long it lasts comes down to the product label and the site, and it can be re-applied | The station checks carry on while the barrier does its job |
| Right for | Current activity, heavily paved blocks, or where chemical use needs limiting | Homes with good soil access around the footings | Heavy or repeated activity, and high-risk properties close to bush |
Want more detail? Our guide to chemical, physical and baiting systems compares them side by side.
Termite treatment is a program over several visits, not a one-off spray.
We confirm which termite it is and how far it has gone, following the tubing and checking roof void, subfloor and garden for the nest.
A fixed written quote: which method, which areas, which products, and how many follow-up visits it needs.
We put bait onto the live workings or into in-ground stations, or treat the soil they travel through with termiticide.
Return visits check feeding and top up bait until activity stops. Timing depends on colony size and season.
Once it is dead we talk about keeping the next one out - soil barrier, ongoing station checks, or both.
Everything applied is recorded in writing, with the recommended date for your next timber pest inspection.
Treatment starts from $179. Your fixed quote comes after we've seen the activity.
| Factor | Why it changes the price |
|---|---|
| Where they are working | A single affected door frame is a small job; activity through the subfloor and wall frames is not |
| Method chosen | Above-ground baiting, in-ground stations and full soil barriers use different amounts of product and labour |
| Access and perimeter | Long footings, restricted subfloor height and narrow passages down the side all add labour |
| Concrete & paving | Paths, patios and garage slabs that must be drilled and injected take longer than open soil |
| Follow-up schedule | Baiting is not one visit. It runs until elimination, and bigger colonies need more returns |
| What sort of property | A strata block, a commercial site or a house with an extension or granny flat is quoted individually |
For typical scenarios, read how much termite treatment costs in Sydney. Warranty terms for termite work are confirmed in writing with your quote.
Hold the repairs until elimination is confirmed - taking out the timber early removes the bait. Then have a builder assess the structural members, bearers and studs and roof timbers included.
You will have in-ground stations sitting flush with locking lids. Keep them clear of mulch and concrete, leave them in place, and call before landscaping so we can relocate them.
The barrier depends on the soil staying put. Garden beds, pavers and decks built against the house are the usual way one gets broken, so talk to us before the work.
The standard, AS 3660.2, recommends an inspection at least annually and more frequently where risk is high. After a treatment, those inspections are how a new colony gets caught early.
Treatment removes the colony. These property conditions attract the next one, and most are cheap to fix.
Colonies forage over a wide area underground - tens of metres - so a stump, a timber retaining wall or an untreated deck on the adjoining block feeds a colony that can reach your Chatswood house.
Coptotermes is the species that does most of the structural damage in Sydney, and it can nest inside a tree or a wall cavity as well as in soil. Identifying what is in the workings decides the Chatswood treatment.
An old stump left in a Chatswood backyard is a colony waiting to happen, and it sits metres from the house. Removing stumps and off-ground storing firewood costs nothing and removes a food source.

Finding the source comes before picking a treatment. Spraying the visible workers is not a plan.
Everything is documented - products, treated areas, follow-up visits - for your records, your insurer or a future buyer.
The follow-up visits are part of the program, so a baiting job does not get abandoned halfway.

Get a Free QuoteTermite treatment starts from $179 and a full timber pest inspection from $159. Two things move it: how big the place is, and how far it has already spread. We work that out on the phone or on site and tell you the figure before anything starts in Chatswood. Treatments carry a 6-month warranty and we re-inspect annually.
Same-day attendance is usually available. Our Lower North Shore technicians cover Chatswood daily, and you get a confirmed arrival time when you book.
Much of the housing near the harbour is old, with suspended floors and sub-floors that hold damp. Add mature gardens running to the boundary and termites have both shelter and moisture.
Period stock on sloping blocks. The lower level and the sub-floor do most of the explaining.
We do all of those. A good share of the Chatswood jobs we run are tenanted or strata properties, so the written record comes as standard.
It is, applied properly. We put product into cracks, voids and stations rather than across open surfaces, and we will tell you what to stay off and for how long before we leave.
Usually not. Most termite control work is done with you there, and anything that needs the room vacated is for a short period we will tell you about beforehand.
Allow one to two hours for a typical Chatswood property. Larger homes, or ones where the problem has spread, take longer and we will say so when we quote.
Treatments carry a 6-month warranty and we re-inspect annually. That is the point of the warranty - you do not pay twice for the same problem.
All of them. Chatswood sits alongside Chatswood West, Artarmon, Lane Cove North and Roseville in our coverage, and they are serviced on the same schedule.
