Repairing the damage
Hold the repairs until elimination is confirmed - taking out the timber early removes the bait. Then have a builder assess the structural members, bearers and studs and roof timbers included.
Termite Control in Gymea 2227 — local technicians, fixed prices and a written report. Termite treatment starts from $179 and a full timber pest inspection from $159.

Where Gymea sits, who covers it and what it costs.
If you are in Gymea or anywhere else in 2227, you are in our Sutherland Shire patch, 21.6 km south-west of the CBD. We run Gymea on a regular route, and same-day attendance is usually available.
A lot of our Gymea jobs are in the streets around Bowie Reserve and Ninth Avenue Reserve, and we are out near Parkside Plaza regularly enough that the technician usually knows the access before they arrive.
The suburb sits in the Sutherland Shire area. Kirrawee, Gymea Bay and Miranda are all covered on the same day, so a problem that has spread across a boundary can be handled in one visit. With bushland close by there is constant pressure from outside, so the perimeter and the fence line get as much attention as the house.
Gymea jobs tend to be properties where the fence line matters as much as the kitchen. Let us know which when you ring and we will plan the visit around it.
Our Gymea runs also take in Kareela Golf Course and the area near Gymea station, so the whole postcode is served.
You get a confirmed time, not a window. We plan the 2227 run the day before, and if Kirrawee or Gymea Bay is on the same round there is often an earlier slot going.
People assume they are covered until they claim. Termite damage is excluded as a maintenance issue, so for a Gymea home the only protection that exists is finding them early.
On warm, humid evenings a mature colony releases winged reproductives. If you find small piles of shed wings on a Gymea windowsill or in a web, a flight has happened close by - often on your own block.
A mature colony can run to a million workers and eat through structural timber steadily rather than dramatically. Most of the serious damage we find in Gymea homes accumulated over years in a wall nobody opened.
Photos from our own Sydney termite jobs. Most properties need one primary method, and some need two working together.

Stations set into the soil around the building. Once termites find the timber inside, it is swapped for bait they carry back to the nest, which is how the colony is eliminated.

We come back on a schedule, open each station, record the feeding and refill the bait. Skipped visits are the single most common reason a baiting program does not finish.

Where termites are working inside a wall or door frame, bait can be fixed directly over the active workings so the colony starts feeding straight away.

A treated zone in the soil: termiticide trenched in along the footings, and injected through holes drilled in paving or slab where there is no open soil.

The subfloor is included on suspended floors - soil around the piers and along the walls - since that is the usual starting point for activity nobody saw.

We show you where timber has been eaten so a builder can assess repairs, which should wait until the colony is confirmed dead.
What you do in the first day or two affects how quickly the colony can be eliminated.
Surface spray and bombs are the worst thing to use here. The colony retreats from the treated area and you lose the access point we needed.
Don't pull the workings apart. Exposed tubes dry and the colony retreats, which costs time on the treatment.
A few photos of the mud tubes, the affected timber or any winged insects, plus a note of where they were, lets us plan the visit properly.
Look around for water - leaks, overflow pipes, the air conditioner drip. Termites want damp soil, and treating without fixing it leaves the attraction in place.
Subterranean termites feed continuously, so waiting costs timber. Same-day and next-day inspections are available right across Sydney.
Townhouse or unit? Notify the strata manager promptly, because common property is usually involved.
A licensed Sydney technician will talk it through and give you a fixed quote within half an hour.
Both are recognised approaches for existing buildings under AS 3660.2. The right choice depends on your property.
| Consideration | Baiting system | Chemical soil barrier | Combination |
|---|---|---|---|
| What it achieves | The colony feeding on the house is eliminated | Termites crossing the treated soil around the building are affected | Clears the current attack and defends against the following one |
| How it goes in | Stations in the soil around the perimeter, plus bait on active workings | Trenching along footings, and drilling and injecting through paths and slabs | Bait first, then the soil treatment once the colony is gone |
| Site disturbance | Almost none: no drilling through paths, no excavating garden beds | Small sealed drill holes in paving, and trenching where there are gardens | Spread across the staged visits |
| What it needs afterwards | The stations are checked on schedule and stay in place as monitoring | Service life is set by the product label and the site conditions; re-application is possible | Stations keep being checked alongside the working barrier |
| Where it fits | Active termites, sites that are mostly paved, and cases where less chemical is preferred | Buildings where the soil around the footings is readily accessible | Heavy infestations, repeat attacks, and high-risk sites backing onto bushland |

Termite treatment is a program over several visits, not a one-off spray.
We confirm which termite it is and how far it has gone, following the tubing and checking roof void, subfloor and garden for the nest.
You get a fixed quote naming the method, areas to be treated, products and the follow-up visits needed.
Bait goes onto active workings or into in-ground stations, or termiticide is applied to the soil where termites travel.
Return visits check feeding and top up bait until activity stops. Timing depends on colony size and season.
Elimination is not protection. We recommend a soil barrier, continued station monitoring, or both, so a fresh colony does not simply replace the last one.
Everything applied is recorded in writing, with the recommended date for your next timber pest inspection.
Treatment starts from $179. Your fixed quote comes after we've seen the activity.
| Factor | Why it changes the price |
|---|---|
| Where the activity is | Termites in one door frame need far less work than activity spread through a subfloor and wall frames |
| Method chosen | Above-ground baiting, in-ground stations and full soil barriers use different amounts of product and labour |
| Size and access | The longer the perimeter and the tighter the subfloor and side access, the longer the job |
| Hard surfaces | Drilling and injecting through paths, patios and garage slabs is slower than trenching open soil |
| Follow-up schedule | Baiting is not one visit. It runs until elimination, and bigger colonies need more returns |
| Kind of property | Strata, commercial and extended homes - including granny flats - are individually scoped |

Flush-fitting, locking lids. Don't shift them, don't cover them with mulch, don't pour concrete over them - and give us notice before landscaping so they can be moved properly.
The barrier depends on the soil staying put. Garden beds, pavers and decks built against the house are the usual way one gets broken, so talk to us before the work.
The standard, AS 3660.2, recommends an inspection at least annually and more frequently where risk is high. After a treatment, those inspections are how a new colony gets caught early.
Treatment removes the colony. These property conditions attract the next one, and most are cheap to fix.
Nasutitermes is common in gardens around Gymea and far less destructive than Coptotermes. Knowing which you have is the difference between urgent and manageable.
The Sutherland Shire has its own pattern - the properties backing onto reserve, gully or paddock see the most pressure, and those are the ones where an annual inspection genuinely earns its cost.
An old stump left in a Gymea backyard is a colony waiting to happen, and it sits metres from the house. Removing stumps and off-ground storing firewood costs nothing and removes a food source.
We hold NSW licence 5122967, and termite work is planned to AS 3660.2 for existing buildings.
Source first, method second. Spraying the termites in front of you leaves the colony untouched.
A documented job: what was used, where, and when we returned - for your files, your insurer or whoever buys the place.
The follow-up visits are part of the program, so a baiting job does not get abandoned halfway.

Get a Free QuoteTermite treatment starts from $179 and a full timber pest inspection from $159. Two things move it: how big the place is, and how far it has already spread. We work that out on the phone or on site and tell you the figure before anything starts in Gymea. Treatments carry a 6-month warranty and we re-inspect annually.
Same-day attendance is usually available. Gymea is about 21.6 km south-west of the CBD in the Sutherland Shire, and we give you a firm arrival time rather than an all-day window.
Where bushland adjoins the block, the question is not how termites got in but how often. The perimeter is what decides that.
Homes with sub-floors, roof voids and bush at the boundary - all three get inspected.
We do all of those. A good share of the Gymea jobs we run are tenanted or strata properties, so the written record comes as standard.
Yes, applied correctly. Products are registered for this use, placed out of reach rather than across open surfaces, and you will know what to stay off and for how long.
Usually not. Most termite control work is done with you there, and anything that needs the room vacated is for a short period we will tell you about beforehand.
An hour to two hours covers most jobs. The size of the building and the extent of the problem are what change it.
Treatments carry a 6-month warranty and we re-inspect annually. A return visit within the warranty period costs you nothing.
Yes - we work right across the Sutherland Shire area, which takes in Gymea and the suburbs around it.
