Expect more sightings, not fewer - slow-moving cockroaches out in the open or dead on the floor. That is the bait and growth regulator taking effect. Sweep them up.

Where Bankstown sits, who covers it and what it costs.
Bankstown sits about 17 km west of the CBD in the Canterbury-Bankstown, and postcode 2200 is one we are in most weeks. We run Bankstown on a regular route, and same-day attendance is usually available.
Around Bankstown we work the pockets near Bankstown station, Yagoona station and Bankstown Memorial Park most often, so the van is rarely far away when a job comes in.
Bankstown is in the Canterbury-Bankstown area, and we cover Mount Lewis, Yagoona and Punchbowl on the same runs - handy if you own more than one property or your cockroach problem has come from next door. The building stock is close-packed, so we look at what the property adjoins before deciding where product goes.
Bankstown jobs tend to be older semis with a paved rear courtyard and a sub-floor that no longer dries out. Let us know which when you ring and we will plan the visit around it.
Beyond that we are regularly around Bankstown City Gardens, and out as far as Little Saigon Plaza. If you are anywhere in 2200, you are inside the area we run.
We confirm your slot the day before and arrive at a stated time. Mount Lewis and Yagoona sit on the same run, so earlier appointments in 2200 come up regularly.
The usual route into a Bankstown home is carried, not crawled. Appliance deliveries, recycled cartons and second-hand white goods are the three we trace most often.
If you are seeing them with the lights on, the numbers behind the kickboard are substantial. We treat a daytime report in Bankstown as an established infestation rather than a few strays.
If your Bankstown neighbour has cockroaches, you have a supply line. The treatment still works, but it needs the entry points sealed and ideally the adjoining property done at the same time.
Knowing the species tells us where the nest is and which treatment will work. Two of these photos are from our own Sydney jobs.

At 12 to 15 mm and light brown with two dark stripes behind the head, this is the species we find living permanently indoors. Warmth, food and moisture are all it needs, and it reproduces faster than any other cockroach here.

Up to roughly 4 cm long and reddish-brown. You find it in sewers, pits, grease traps and under the floor, and it travels up through drains after dark rather than nesting indoors.

Similar in size to the American cockroach but with pale yellow edges near the head and along the wings. Despite the name it is an outdoor species that comes in from gardens, mulch and subfloors.

Small and marked with pale bands. It is the one that does not want water, so it settles high and dry - behind pictures, inside electrical housings, in the top cupboards.

Where and when you see them is often a better clue than size. Use this to tell us what you are seeing when you call.
| What you see | Likely species | Where the nest usually is | What treatment focuses on |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cockroaches barely 15 mm out in the open by day, with dark pepper-like specks where cupboards meet | German cockroach, and an established one | Inside hinges, appliance cavities, the kickboard void, the housings of the appliances themselves | Gel baits rotated through the job, a growth regulator, and crack-and-crevice application indoors |
| A single big one after dark by the laundry tub, the bathroom or a floor drain | American cockroach | Stormwater and sewer pits, the space under the floor, floor wastes that have dried out | Treating the pits and drains, the subfloor, and sealing the gaps where pipes pass through |
| Large cockroaches with yellow edging, seen in the garage or coming in from the garden | Australian cockroach | Mulch, leaf litter, woodpiles, roof void | External perimeter, roof void dusting, garden harbourage |
| Small cockroaches turning up in bedrooms and living rooms, never around the sink | Brown-banded cockroach | Warm dry furniture, and the inside of electrical appliances | Bait placed through the living and sleeping areas where they actually are |
| Cockroaches that always come back to the flat no matter how well you treat your own kitchen | German cockroach moving around the block | Shared service risers, the bin room, and cavities inside the party walls | Treating the whole building together. See strata pest control |

A German cockroach egg case holds around 30 eggs, and the female carries it until shortly before hatching. Killing adults on the surface leaves the next generation untouched.
One female produces several egg cases, and in a warm kitchen the young reach maturity within weeks. That is how a handful becomes a serious problem in a short time.
Foggers and retail sprays drive the population further into cavities and across into neighbouring units, while leaving residue on the surfaces you cook on.
Cockroach droppings, saliva and cast skins are recognised triggers for allergies and asthma, so a lingering infestation is a health issue as well as a nuisance.
What the technician does on the day, in the order it happens.
First we establish which cockroach it is, then map where it lives - torch and mirror into hinges, motor cavities, behind kickboards and into wall voids. Everything after this depends on that map.
Where grease or food build-up is feeding the colony, we show you what to clean first. Bait works far better when it is the most attractive food in the room.
Rather than spray, we put small amounts of gel exactly where they travel. They eat and return to shelter, and that is how the treatment reaches the ones you never see.
A growth regulator shuts down the next generation, and dust goes into the voids and cavities where gel simply cannot be placed.
American and Australian cockroaches are treated at source: pits, floor wastes, subfloor and roof void. Treating the kitchen alone just handles the ones that already made it in.
Everything is recorded in writing. Still seeing heavy activity after a fortnight, or it returns inside the 6-month warranty on a general treatment? We return at no cost.
Some DIY options help with a few stray cockroaches. An established German cockroach colony is a different job.
| Method | What it does well | Where it falls short |
|---|---|---|
| Aerosol surface spray | Takes care of the one in front of you | Does nothing to egg cases or voids, and drives the rest deeper into the walls |
| Bug bombs and foggers | Easy coverage of the exposed parts of a room | Never reaches the hiding places, leaves residue where you cook, and scatters them |
| Retail bait stations | Worth using when numbers are genuinely low | There is very little bait in them, and crumbs or grease will beat them every time |
| Professional gel bait rotation | Fed on inside the harbourage and shared through the colony, with the option to swap formulations | Only works with the food competition removed, and needs days to two weeks |
| Insect growth regulator | Stops nymphs maturing into breeding adults, which breaks the egg-case cycle | Works slowly, so it is always paired with bait |
Ten minutes of preparation lets the bait reach more cockroaches.
Expect more sightings, not fewer - slow-moving cockroaches out in the open or dead on the floor. That is the bait and growth regulator taking effect. Sweep them up.
Numbers should drop away through this period. Do not wipe the bait out of hinges and cracks, and do not spray over it - cockroaches will stop taking bait that has been sprayed.
Where activity continues, raise it with your agent or strata manager, because they cross between lots. See apartment pest control for how a building-wide treatment runs.
Steady activity at the two-week mark, or a return inside 6 months of a general treatment, means a warranty re-treatment - ring 1300 313 373.
A cockroach sighting in a Bankstown food business is a compliance problem before it is a pest problem. The program we run is built so the paperwork exists before anyone asks for it.
A good share of our Bankstown work sits close to Little Saigon Plaza, though the back streets and the Mount Lewis boundary are just as familiar.
In older Bankstown buildings a cockroach population can live entirely in the drain line and come up at night. Treating the kitchen and ignoring the pipework means you are treating the visitors, not the residents.
Treatment follows identification. Indoor German cockroaches need bait and a growth regulator; drain-dwelling species need the pits and subfloor treated.
We bait into cracks and hinges instead of spraying benchtops, because that is where food is prepared.
We cover everything from one apartment to a full commercial kitchen, scheduled around your trading hours.

Get a Free QuoteA cockroach treatment starts from $89. The fixed price depends on the size of the property and how far the problem has spread, and we confirm it before we start - there is no call-out fee in Bankstown 2200. Every general treatment carries a 6-month warranty.
Same-day attendance is usually available. Bankstown is about 17 km west of the CBD in the Canterbury-Bankstown, and we give you a firm arrival time rather than an all-day window.
Older inner suburbs combine shared structure with ageing drainage, and cockroaches exploit both. Rear courtyards that have been paved over make it worse by trapping damp against the walls.
Terraces and semis that share walls, roof voids and drainage - so we look at what the property adjoins before deciding where product goes.
Yes. Houses, townhouses, units, strata common property, rentals and commercial sites in Bankstown 2200 are all part of what we do, and the paperwork is the kind agents accept.
Yes, applied correctly. Products are registered for this use, placed out of reach rather than across open surfaces, and you will know what to stay off and for how long.
Most of the time you can carry on as normal. If a particular area needs to be empty we will flag it when we arrive and it is rarely more than a couple of hours.
Allow one to two hours for a typical Bankstown property. Larger homes, or ones where the problem has spread, take longer and we will say so when we quote.
Every general treatment carries a 6-month warranty. A return visit within the warranty period costs you nothing.
