What we cover in Greendale, and how quickly we can get there.
We treat cockroaches right across 2745. Greendale is roughly 50.1 km west of the city, which puts it well inside the Penrith & the Outer West run our technicians work. We travel out to Greendale on planned runs through the Penrith & the Outer West, so booking a day ahead gets you the best slot.
Around Greendale we are most often working near Bents Basin State Conservation Area.
This is the Penrith City and Hawkesbury area, and our runs here also take in Silverdale, Luddenham and Bringelly. Bigger properties mean sheds, stables and stacked timber to check as well as the house.
Most Greendale bookings come in as acreage properties with outbuildings that need checking alongside the house. Say which one applies when you call 1300 313 373 and the technician will have the right products on the van.
All of 2745 falls inside the area we service.
When you book, we confirm the 2745 run the day before and give you an arrival time rather than a window. If we are already out at Silverdale or Luddenham that morning, we will usually offer you the earlier slot.
There is a particular smell to a bad one - stale and slightly greasy, strongest when you open a cupboard that has been shut. If you can smell it in a Greendale kitchen, the population is well past a few.
In older Greendale buildings a cockroach population can live entirely in the drain line and come up at night. Treating the kitchen and ignoring the pipework means you are treating the visitors, not the residents.
German cockroaches are small, light brown, and stay indoors near warmth and water. Australian and smoky-brown cockroaches are bigger, darker and come in from outside. In Greendale we see both, and they need completely different treatments - one is a kitchen job, the other is a perimeter job.
Knowing the species tells us where the nest is and which treatment will work. Two of these photos are from our own Sydney jobs.

At 12 to 15 mm and light brown with two dark stripes behind the head, this is the species we find living permanently indoors. Warmth, food and moisture are all it needs, and it reproduces faster than any other cockroach here.

Up to roughly 4 cm long and reddish-brown. You find it in sewers, pits, grease traps and under the floor, and it travels up through drains after dark rather than nesting indoors.

Similar in size to the American cockroach, told apart by the yellow margins at the head and wing edges. An outdoor species - gardens, mulch, the subfloor - that makes its way in.

Small and marked with pale bands. It is the one that does not want water, so it settles high and dry - behind pictures, inside electrical housings, in the top cupboards.

An Elite inspection photo showing German cockroach activity in Sydney. What we look for is the evidence - droppings, cast skins, egg cases - because it identifies the species and how long it has been there.

From an Elite commercial job: harbourage found inside kitchen equipment. The motor housing, the door seal and the hollow leg hold warmth after close and almost never get cleaned out.
Where and when you see them is often a better clue than size. Use this to tell us what you are seeing when you call.
| What you see | Likely species | Where the nest usually is | What treatment focuses on |
|---|---|---|---|
| Daytime sightings near the sink, plus specks of droppings along the joins in cupboards | German cockroach - the one species that lives and breeds indoors | Hinges and drawer runners, the gap behind fridge and dishwasher, behind kickboards, inside motor housings | A bait rotation paired with a growth regulator, placed into cracks rather than sprayed about |
| Large cockroaches turning up at night around wet areas, usually one at a time | American cockroach | The pit system, the subfloor, and any floor-waste trap that has lost its water seal | Pit and drain work, subfloor treatment, and closing off pipe penetrations |
| Large cockroaches edged in pale yellow, around the garage or just inside a back door | Australian cockroach | Mulch and leaf litter, woodpiles, and up in the roof void | Perimeter work outside, a dusting of the roof void, and clearing the garden harbourage |
| Little banded cockroaches behind a picture frame or inside the TV unit, away from any water | Brown-banded cockroach | Dry warm spots in furniture and inside electrical gear | Targeted baiting in the rooms you live and sleep in, not the kitchen |
| Cockroaches in a unit that keep returning weeks after your own treatment | German cockroach moving between units | Shared service risers, bin rooms and wall cavities | A coordinated building treatment. See strata pest control |

Each German cockroach egg case carries roughly 30 eggs and stays with the female almost until they hatch. Surface sprays never reach it, so the following generation arrives regardless.
Multiply several egg cases per female by nymphs that mature in a few warm weeks and you have the reason a minor sighting turns into an infestation.
A repellent product scatters rather than clears - deeper into the wall void, through to the unit next door - and leaves residue where food is prepared.
Cast skins, droppings and saliva are recognised asthma and allergy triggers, which makes a long-running infestation a health issue rather than just an annoyance.
What the technician does on the day, in the order it happens.
We confirm the species and use a torch and inspection mirror to find harbourage: hinges, appliance housings, kickboards and wall voids. The treatment follows what we find, not a standard routine.
Where build-up is feeding them, you will get a short list of what to clean and the order to do it in - bait has to out-compete everything else available.
Professional gel goes down as small dots inside the cracks they already use. A cockroach feeds, goes home, and the product moves through the rest of the colony from there.
An insect growth regulator stops nymphs becoming breeding adults, and dust goes into wall voids and cavities where gel cannot reach.
With American and Australian cockroaches the work is outside the kitchen: the pits, the floor wastes, the subfloor and the roof void, because that is where they breed.
You receive a written summary of what was found and done. Heavy activity after two weeks, or a return within the 6-month general-treatment warranty, brings us back free of charge.
Some DIY options help with a few stray cockroaches. An established German cockroach colony is a different job.
| Method | What it does well | Where it falls short |
|---|---|---|
| Aerosol surface spray | Kills the cockroach you can see | Does not reach egg cases or voids, and repels others deeper into walls |
| Bug bombs and foggers | Treats the exposed surfaces of a room in one go | Nothing reaches the hiding places, residue settles on food surfaces, and the colony scatters |
| Retail bait stations | Can help if you have only seen a few | The bait volume is small, and competing food such as grease wins out |
| Professional gel bait rotation | Taken into the harbourage and shared around; if they tire of one gel we change it | Needs the kitchen clean behind it, and works over days rather than hours |
| Insect growth regulator | Prevents nymphs maturing, so the cycle of egg cases stops | Slow on its own, which is why it is never used without bait |
Ten minutes of preparation lets the bait reach more cockroaches.
Cockroaches coming out in daylight and moving sluggishly is the normal first sign. The bait and growth regulator are working. Sweep up what you find and carry on.
Numbers should drop away through this period. Do not wipe the bait out of hinges and cracks, and do not spray over it - cockroaches will stop taking bait that has been sprayed.
If it keeps going, let the agent or building manager know - cockroaches move between units readily. There is more on co-ordinated work on our apartment pest control page.
Ring 1300 313 373 for a warranty re-treatment if steady activity continues past two weeks, or if cockroaches return within 6 months of a general treatment.
The pattern we see across Greendale and the wider Penrith & the Outer West is a surge after the first properly warm week, then steady pressure until autumn. Treating before that surge is far cheaper than treating after it.
If your Greendale neighbour has cockroaches, you have a supply line. The treatment still works, but it needs the entry points sealed and ideally the adjoining property done at the same time.
Council officers want records, not reassurance. For food premises around Greendale we provide the treatment schedule, the products used, the monitoring point locations and the findings from each visit, in a form you can hand over.
The species sets the method - gel and growth regulator indoors for German cockroaches, pits and subfloor for the drain dwellers.
Gel baits in cracks and hinges, not blanket spraying across benches where you prepare food.

We cover it on scheduled runs, so a day's notice gets you the best slot. Greendale is about 50.1 km west of the CBD in the Penrith & the Outer West, and we give you a firm arrival time rather than an all-day window.
On a rural-fringe block the surrounding land is doing the work - paddock, timber, sheds - and the house is the last step rather than the first.
Rural-residential blocks where the shed, feed store or woodpile is as likely to be the source as the building itself.
