What we cover in Wallacia, and how quickly we can get there.
Wallacia sits about 52.6 km west of the CBD in the Penrith & the Outer West, and postcode 2745 is one we are in most weeks. We travel out to Wallacia on planned runs through the Penrith & the Outer West, so booking a day ahead gets you the best slot.
A good share of our Wallacia work is in the streets around Wallacia Panthers Golf Course and Downes Park.
Penrith City and Hawkesbury is the council area for Wallacia, and we treat Mulgoa, Silverdale and Greendale on the same schedule. On larger blocks the outbuildings, sheds and woodpiles are usually where the problem is sitting, so they are part of the inspection.
Most Wallacia bookings come in as rural-residential homes where it started in a stable or a feed store. Say which one applies when you call 1300 313 373 and the technician will have the right products on the van.
Wherever you are in 2745, you are inside the area our technicians cover.
You get a confirmed time, not a window. We plan the 2745 run the day before, and if Mulgoa or Silverdale is on the same round there is often an earlier slot going.
Floor wastes, overflow pipes and the gap where a waste pipe passes through a cupboard base are all cockroach routes. A dry floor waste in a Wallacia laundry is an open door, and a cup of water down it once a week closes it.
Cockroaches do not respect a lease boundary. In a Wallacia block they move through service risers, shared drains and the cavity between units, so treating one kitchen in a building with a problem is money spent on a holding pattern.
Think of it as two populations: the adults you see, and the eggs you do not. Clear the first in a Wallacia kitchen and the second hatches on schedule about ten weeks later, which is why one-off treatments never hold.
Knowing the species tells us where the nest is and which treatment will work. Two of these photos are from our own Sydney jobs.

Around 12 to 15 mm, light brown, two dark stripes running back from the head. It never really leaves the building - warmth, a food source and a little moisture keep it going, and it out-breeds every other cockroach in a kitchen.

The largest one we deal with, around 4 cm and reddish-brown. Pits, sewers, grease traps and subfloors are where it breeds; the kitchen is somewhere it passes through at night.

Similar in size to the American cockroach but with pale yellow edges near the head and along the wings. Despite the name it is an outdoor species that comes in from gardens, mulch and subfloors.

A small cockroach with light bands across the body, found away from water in warm dry positions: behind frames, in electrical fittings, in cupboards at height.

Photo from an Elite job: German cockroach activity found during a Sydney inspection. Droppings, cast skins and egg cases in the harbourage tell us the species and how established it is.

From an Elite commercial job: harbourage found inside kitchen equipment. The motor housing, the door seal and the hollow leg hold warmth after close and almost never get cleaned out.
Where and when you see them is often a better clue than size. Use this to tell us what you are seeing when you call.
| What you see | Likely species | Where the nest usually is | What treatment focuses on |
|---|---|---|---|
| Small cockroaches in the kitchen during the day, plus pepper-like droppings in cupboard corners | German cockroach, usually a heavy infestation | Hinges, dishwasher and fridge cavities, behind the kickboards, inside appliances | Gel bait rotation, growth regulator and crack-and-crevice treatment inside |
| The occasional large cockroach at night in a wet area rather than a group in the kitchen | American cockroach | Pits, the subfloor, and floor wastes that are no longer holding water | Drain and pit treatment plus subfloor work, with pipe gaps sealed afterwards |
| Large ones marked with yellow near the head, found in the garage or wandering in from the yard | Australian cockroach | Mulched beds, leaf litter, woodpiles, and the roof space above | Work outside: the perimeter, the roof void, and the harbourage in the garden itself |
| Little banded cockroaches behind a picture frame or inside the TV unit, away from any water | Brown-banded cockroach | Dry warm spots in furniture and inside electrical gear | Targeted baiting in the rooms you live and sleep in, not the kitchen |
| Cockroaches in a unit that keep returning weeks after your own treatment | German cockroach moving between units | Shared service risers, bin rooms and wall cavities | A coordinated building treatment. See strata pest control |

Roughly 30 eggs sit in a single case, and the female keeps it with her until it is nearly ready to hatch. Nothing you spray on a surface touches it.
Each female can produce several egg cases in her life, and the young mature in weeks in a warm kitchen. A few cockroaches become an infestation quickly.
Because they repel, bombs and aerosols spread the problem: deeper into the walls, into the neighbouring unit, and over the surfaces you prepare food on.
Droppings, saliva and shed skins are established asthma and allergy triggers. An infestation left in place is a health problem, not only an unpleasant one.
What the technician does on the day, in the order it happens.
We confirm the species and use a torch and inspection mirror to find harbourage: hinges, appliance housings, kickboards and wall voids. The treatment follows what we find, not a standard routine.
Grease and food residue keep a colony going, so we show you the spots that matter most. Bait only wins if it is the best meal in the room.
Professional gel goes down as small dots inside the cracks they already use. A cockroach feeds, goes home, and the product moves through the rest of the colony from there.
Two products with different jobs: the growth regulator stops nymphs maturing, and dust carries the treatment into voids and cavities beyond the reach of gel.
The outdoor species need outdoor treatment - stormwater pits, floor wastes, under the floor and the roof cavity, which is where they actually live before they reach your kitchen.
We leave you a written record of the job. If it is still heavy at two weeks, or comes back inside the 6 months a general treatment carries, we return at no charge.
Some DIY options help with a few stray cockroaches. An established German cockroach colony is a different job.
| Method | What it does well | Where it falls short |
|---|---|---|
| Aerosol surface spray | Kills the cockroach you can see | Does not reach egg cases or voids, and repels others deeper into walls |
| Bug bombs and foggers | Treats the exposed surfaces of a room in one go | Nothing reaches the hiding places, residue settles on food surfaces, and the colony scatters |
| Retail bait stations | Has a place when you have only seen one or two | Very little bait in each, and any crumbs or grease will out-compete it |
| Professional gel bait rotation | Carried home and shared where they shelter; if they start refusing one gel we rotate to another | Requires a clean kitchen and patience - days to a couple of weeks, not overnight |
| Insect growth regulator | Prevents nymphs maturing, so the cycle of egg cases stops | Slow on its own, which is why it is never used without bait |
Ten minutes of preparation lets the bait reach more cockroaches.

You should see a steady decline. Leave the gel where we put it in hinges and cracks, and keep your own insecticide away from it, or they will refuse to feed.
Tell your agent or building manager if activity continues, as cockroaches often travel between lots. Our apartment pest control page explains building-wide options.
Two weeks on and still seeing them regularly, or back inside 6 months of a general treatment? That is a warranty call - 1300 313 373.
The pattern we see across Wallacia and the wider Penrith & the Outer West is a surge after the first properly warm week, then steady pressure until autumn. Treating before that surge is far cheaper than treating after it.
A cockroach sighting in a Wallacia food business is a compliance problem before it is a pest problem. The program we run is built so the paperwork exists before anyone asks for it.
From Downes Park through to the Mulgoa side of Wallacia, it is all one service area for us - same price, same response time.
What we use depends on what you have: baits and growth regulators for German cockroaches, pit and subfloor treatment for the drain species.
Gel goes into the cracks and hinges. Nothing gets sprayed across the bench you prepare food on.
We cover everything from one apartment to a full commercial kitchen, scheduled around your trading hours.
Six months on a general treatment - if they come back inside it, so do we, at no charge.

We cover it on scheduled runs, so a day's notice gets you the best slot. Our Penrith & the Outer West technicians cover Wallacia daily, and you get a confirmed arrival time when you book.
Out here the problem is normally outside the building. We inspect the outbuildings and the stored timber because that is where cockroaches are actually established.
Bigger properties with sheds and open ground, where the source is usually outside the house.
We do all of those. A good share of the Wallacia jobs we run are tenanted or strata properties, so the written record comes as standard.
Yes, with the usual care. Everything is APVMA-registered and used to label, and we will work around pets, aquariums and anyone in the house with a respiratory condition if you tell us when you book.
In most cases you can stay. Where an area does need to be left clear it is for a couple of hours at most, and we say so before we start.
Usually between one and two hours on site. Bigger properties and heavier infestations take more, and that is included in the quote rather than added afterwards.
Every general treatment carries a 6-month warranty. So if they turn up again within the warranty, ring us and we will attend.
All of them. Wallacia sits alongside Mulgoa, Silverdale, Greendale and Luddenham in our coverage, and they are serviced on the same schedule.
