Where Long Point sits, who covers it and what it costs.
Long Point is part of the Macarthur, 32.9 km or so south-west of the GPO, and 2564 is a postcode we know well. We cover Long Point on scheduled runs through the Macarthur, and we will give you a firm time rather than a window.
Our Long Point work takes in the streets by Lantana Park and Towards Park, through to Simmos Beach at the other end.
This is the Campbelltown and Camden area, and our runs here also take in Macquarie Fields, Minto Heights and Ingleburn. Estate blocks are compact with narrow side passages, so access and the perimeter are where most of the work happens.
The cockroach calls we take from Long Point are mostly newer homes on small blocks where next door has the same problem. If yours is one of them, mention it when you ring 1300 313 373 - it changes what the technician brings.
All of 2564 falls inside the area we service.
Almost none of the colony is out where you can see it. They are packed into the warm humid gaps - the kickboard void, the dishwasher housing, under the fridge motor, inside a cupboard hinge - so a Long Point job that treats surfaces has missed the point.
Nobody gets bitten by a cockroach. The risk is what comes off their feet onto a Long Point benchtop after a trip through the drain line, which matters most in a house with small children or anyone with a weakened immune system.
Cockroach calls climb from October and peak through February, because warmth shortens the time a nymph needs to reach breeding age. The same population that was manageable in a Long Point kitchen in winter can double over a hot month.
Knowing the species tells us where the nest is and which treatment will work. Two of these photos are from our own Sydney jobs.

The small indoor one - about 12 to 15 mm, light brown, with a pair of dark bands just behind the head. It stays close to warmth and water, which is why kitchens and bathrooms are where it establishes.

Large and reddish-brown, up to about 4 cm. It lives in sewers, stormwater pits, grease traps and subfloors, and comes up through drains at night rather than breeding in the kitchen.

Similar in size to the American cockroach but with pale yellow edges near the head and along the wings. Despite the name it is an outdoor species that comes in from gardens, mulch and subfloors.

A small banded cockroach that favours warmth and dryness rather than moisture. Look for it high up: behind frames, inside electrical enclosures and in cupboards well away from the sink.

One of our Sydney inspections, showing German cockroach activity. The harbourage itself tells the story: droppings, cast skins and egg cases give us both the species and the scale.

From a commercial kitchen we service: cockroach harbourage inside the machinery. Hollow legs, door seals and motor housings keep their heat overnight and are almost never cleaned.
Where and when you see them is often a better clue than size. Use this to tell us what you are seeing when you call.
| What you see | Likely species | Where the nest usually is | What treatment focuses on |
|---|---|---|---|
| A dozen small cockroaches on the bench in broad daylight, with dark specks in the cupboard corners | German cockroach, already a heavy infestation | The hinge of a cupboard door, behind the dishwasher and fridge, the kickboard void, inside appliances | Bait rotation and a growth regulator, applied into cracks and crevices right through the kitchen |
| The occasional large cockroach at night in a wet area rather than a group in the kitchen | American cockroach | Pits, the subfloor, and floor wastes that are no longer holding water | Drain and pit treatment plus subfloor work, with pipe gaps sealed afterwards |
| Large cockroaches with yellow edging, seen in the garage or coming in from the garden | Australian cockroach | Mulch, leaf litter, woodpiles, roof void | External perimeter, roof void dusting, garden harbourage |
| Little cockroaches well away from the kitchen: bedrooms, the TV unit, behind wall hangings | Brown-banded cockroach | Warm dry spots in furniture and inside appliances | Bait placed where they actually are, in the living and sleeping areas |
| Cockroaches that always come back to the flat no matter how well you treat your own kitchen | German cockroach moving around the block | Shared service risers, the bin room, and cavities inside the party walls | Treating the whole building together. See strata pest control |

A German cockroach egg case holds about 30 eggs and travels with the female until hatching is close. Kill the adults you can see and the next generation still arrives.
Each female can produce several egg cases in her life, and the young mature in weeks in a warm kitchen. A few cockroaches become an infestation quickly.
A repellent product scatters rather than clears - deeper into the wall void, through to the unit next door - and leaves residue where food is prepared.
Droppings, saliva and shed skins are established asthma and allergy triggers. An infestation left in place is a health problem, not only an unpleasant one.
What the technician does on the day, in the order it happens.
Step one is knowing which cockroach you have. Step two is finding where it shelters: torch and inspection mirror through hinges, appliance cavities, kickboards and wall voids.
If grease or food residue is sustaining the population, we point out exactly what to clean and in what order. Bait competes with whatever else is available, so this step changes the result.
Professional gel goes down as small dots inside the cracks they already use. A cockroach feeds, goes home, and the product moves through the rest of the colony from there.
A growth regulator prevents the young reaching breeding age, while dust treats the wall voids and cavities that gel placement cannot get into.
Pits, floor wastes, the subfloor and the roof void get treated for the American and Australian species - they come in from there, so that is where it has to be done.
A written summary comes with the job. Heavy activity still there after two weeks, or a return within 6 months of a general treatment, and we come back for nothing.
Some DIY options help with a few stray cockroaches. An established German cockroach colony is a different job.
| Method | What it does well | Where it falls short |
|---|---|---|
| Aerosol surface spray | Works on a cockroach you can actually see | Egg cases and harbourage are untouched, and it repels the others further in |
| Bug bombs and foggers | Covers open surfaces in a room | Misses harbourage, leaves residue on benches, and can scatter the colony |
| Retail bait stations | Useful for a light problem | Low bait volume, and easily out-competed by crumbs and grease |
| Professional gel bait rotation | Carried home and shared where they shelter; if they start refusing one gel we rotate to another | Requires a clean kitchen and patience - days to a couple of weeks, not overnight |
| Insect growth regulator | Stops the next generation maturing, breaking the cycle of egg cases | Deliberately slow, so bait does the knockdown alongside it |
Ten minutes of preparation lets the bait reach more cockroaches.
Seeing more of them at first is expected. They come out, move slowly and die - the bait and growth regulator doing their job. Sweep up and leave everything else alone.
Through the second week activity should fall away. Leave the bait in place in hinges and cracks, and resist spraying anything over it, which puts cockroaches off feeding.
If it keeps going, let the agent or building manager know - cockroaches move between units readily. There is more on co-ordinated work on our apartment pest control page.
Steady activity at the two-week mark, or a return inside 6 months of a general treatment, means a warranty re-treatment - ring 1300 313 373.
Cockroaches do not respect a lease boundary. In a Long Point block they move through service risers, shared drains and the cavity between units, so treating one kitchen in a building with a problem is money spent on a holding pattern.
Humidity is the driver. In the Macarthur the summer months bring the fastest breeding, and the mild winters mean a population indoors never really slows - it just gets quieter.
For a Long Point cafe or restaurant the standard is different: a documented program, a site plan with numbered monitoring points, and a report an auditor will accept. We work to that rather than turning up with a spray pack.
The species sets the method - gel and growth regulator indoors for German cockroaches, pits and subfloor for the drain dwellers.
We bait into cracks and hinges instead of spraying benchtops, because that is where food is prepared.
Single units through to commercial kitchens, with food premises worked outside trading hours.
Six months on a general treatment - if they come back inside it, so do we, at no charge.

Get a Free QuoteA cockroach treatment starts from $89. What changes the figure is the size of the building, how many areas are affected and the access. You get that number up front for Long Point 2564, with no call-out fee. Every general treatment carries a 6-month warranty.
We cover it on scheduled runs, so a day's notice gets you the best slot. Long Point is about 32.9 km south-west of the CBD in the Macarthur, and we give you a firm arrival time rather than an all-day window.
The ground here was cleared and rebuilt recently, which displaced whatever lived in it, and the blocks are close enough that cockroaches move between them along the fence lines.
Estate housing on small lots, which means the outside of the building matters as much as the inside.
We do. A lot of our Long Point work is rentals and strata, so the report, the products used and the areas treated are all recorded in writing for whoever needs them.
Yes, with the usual care. Everything is APVMA-registered and used to label, and we will work around pets, aquariums and anyone in the house with a respiratory condition if you tell us when you book.
Usually not. Most of the work is done with you in the house, and where a room does need to be clear it is for a short period we will tell you about on arrival.
Between one and two hours covers the majority of jobs. We do not book so tightly that a technician has to cut a job short.
Every general treatment carries a 6-month warranty. So if they turn up again within the warranty, ring us and we will attend.
We cover the whole of Long Point, from the streets around Lantana Park out to the suburb boundary and on into Macquarie Fields.
