What we cover in Minto Heights, and how quickly we can get there.
Minto Heights is part of the Macarthur, 35.8 km or so south-west of the GPO, and 2566 is a postcode we know well. We cover Minto Heights on scheduled runs through the Macarthur, and we will give you a firm time rather than a window.
Most weeks we are somewhere between Passfield Park and Redfern Park in Minto Heights, and Keith Longhurst Reserve is close enough to be on the same run.
The suburb sits in the Campbelltown and Camden area. Minto, Kentlyn and Long Point are all covered on the same day, so a problem that has spread across a boundary can be handled in one visit. Estate blocks are compact with narrow side passages, so access and the perimeter are where most of the work happens.
The bulk of our Minto Heights work is recently built homes where the activity started at the boundary. Mention the detail when you call 1300 313 373 - it decides how long we need on site.
Beyond that we cover the rest of 2566, including the streets around Minto Marketplace.
When you book, we confirm the 2566 run the day before and give you an arrival time rather than a window. If we are already out at Minto or Kentlyn that morning, we will usually offer you the earlier slot.
A cockroach can last weeks on almost nothing to eat but only days without water. That is why perfectly clean Minto Heights kitchens still get them: a dripping tap, a sweating pipe or a damp dishwasher seal is enough.
They do not bite. What they do is walk through a drain and then over the surface you cut food on, which is a contamination problem - and the reason we treat the pipework and the harbourage, not just the floor.
In older Minto Heights buildings a cockroach population can live entirely in the drain line and come up at night. Treating the kitchen and ignoring the pipework means you are treating the visitors, not the residents.
Knowing the species tells us where the nest is and which treatment will work. Two of these photos are from our own Sydney jobs.

Light brown with two dark stripes behind the head, roughly 12 to 15 mm long. It lives indoors near warmth, food and moisture, and it is the species that breeds fastest inside a kitchen.

The largest one we deal with, around 4 cm and reddish-brown. Pits, sewers, grease traps and subfloors are where it breeds; the kitchen is somewhere it passes through at night.

Similar in size to the American cockroach but with pale yellow edges near the head and along the wings. Despite the name it is an outdoor species that comes in from gardens, mulch and subfloors.

Small, with light bands across the back. Unlike the others it avoids damp, preferring warm dry places up high - behind wall hangings, inside appliance housings and in upper cupboards.

One of our Sydney inspections, showing German cockroach activity. The harbourage itself tells the story: droppings, cast skins and egg cases give us both the species and the scale.

Taken on an Elite commercial job - harbourage inside the equipment itself. Motor cavities, door seals and hollow legs stay warm all night and rarely see a cloth.
Where and when you see them is often a better clue than size. Use this to tell us what you are seeing when you call.
| What you see | Likely species | Where the nest usually is | What treatment focuses on |
|---|---|---|---|
| Small cockroaches in the kitchen during the day, plus pepper-like droppings in cupboard corners | German cockroach, usually a heavy infestation | Hinges, dishwasher and fridge cavities, behind the kickboards, inside appliances | Gel bait rotation, growth regulator and crack-and-crevice treatment inside |
| The occasional large cockroach at night in a wet area rather than a group in the kitchen | American cockroach | Pits, the subfloor, and floor wastes that are no longer holding water | Drain and pit treatment plus subfloor work, with pipe gaps sealed afterwards |
| Large cockroaches with yellow edging, seen in the garage or coming in from the garden | Australian cockroach | Mulch, leaf litter, woodpiles, roof void | External perimeter, roof void dusting, garden harbourage |
| Small cockroaches in bedrooms, in the TV unit or behind frames, away from the kitchen | Brown-banded cockroach | Warm, dry furniture and electrical appliances | Targeted baiting in living and sleeping areas |
| An apartment where they come back a few weeks after you treated it yourself | German cockroach travelling between lots | The service risers, the bin room and the wall cavities the units share | Treating the building as one job. See strata pest control |

The egg case - around 30 eggs, carried by the female until just before hatching - is shielded from anything applied to a surface. That is why the population reappears after a DIY attempt.
Multiply several egg cases per female by nymphs that mature in a few warm weeks and you have the reason a minor sighting turns into an infestation.
Because they repel, bombs and aerosols spread the problem: deeper into the walls, into the neighbouring unit, and over the surfaces you prepare food on.
The allergen load - droppings, saliva, cast skins - is a recognised trigger for asthma and allergies, which is why clearing an infestation properly matters beyond the nuisance.
What the technician does on the day, in the order it happens.
Species confirmation comes first, then the search. Torch and inspection mirror into cupboard hinges, appliance housings, the kickboard void and the wall cavity, so the treatment is aimed rather than general.
Grease and food residue keep a colony going, so we show you the spots that matter most. Bait only wins if it is the best meal in the room.
Dots of professional gel are placed in the cracks they run through. One feeds, carries it back to the harbourage, and it works through the colony from the inside.
The growth regulator keeps nymphs from ever breeding; dust handles the wall voids and cavities that no gel dot can reach.
With American and Australian cockroaches the work is outside the kitchen: the pits, the floor wastes, the subfloor and the roof void, because that is where they breed.
A written summary comes with the job. Heavy activity still there after two weeks, or a return within 6 months of a general treatment, and we come back for nothing.
Some DIY options help with a few stray cockroaches. An established German cockroach colony is a different job.
| Method | What it does well | Where it falls short |
|---|---|---|
| Aerosol surface spray | Works on a cockroach you can actually see | Egg cases and harbourage are untouched, and it repels the others further in |
| Bug bombs and foggers | Covers a whole room's open surfaces at once | Harbourage is untouched, benches end up with residue, and the population spreads out |
| Retail bait stations | Worth using when numbers are genuinely low | There is very little bait in them, and crumbs or grease will beat them every time |
| Professional gel bait rotation | Fed on inside the harbourage and shared through the colony, with the option to swap formulations | Only works with the food competition removed, and needs days to two weeks |
| Insect growth regulator | Prevents the young reaching breeding age, which ends the egg-case cycle | Slow by design, so we never use it on its own - it goes in with bait |
Ten minutes of preparation lets the bait reach more cockroaches.
You may see cockroaches out in daylight, moving slowly or dying on the floor. This is the bait and growth regulator starting to work. Sweep them up and keep going.
Numbers should drop away through this period. Do not wipe the bait out of hinges and cracks, and do not spray over it - cockroaches will stop taking bait that has been sprayed.
If it keeps going, let the agent or building manager know - cockroaches move between units readily. There is more on co-ordinated work on our apartment pest control page.
Two weeks on and still seeing them regularly, or back inside 6 months of a general treatment? That is a warranty call - 1300 313 373.
Where Minto Heights housing shares walls and roof voids - semis, terraces, unit blocks - the population is usually shared too. We say so up front rather than treating one flat and letting you discover it a month later.
A cockroach sighting in a Minto Heights food business is a compliance problem before it is a pest problem. The program we run is built so the paperwork exists before anyone asks for it.
From Minto Marketplace through to the Minto side of Minto Heights, it is all one service area for us - same price, same response time.
Identify first, then treat: bait and growth regulator for German cockroaches, pit and subfloor work for the species that come up the drains.
Gel baits in cracks and hinges, not blanket spraying across benches where you prepare food.
One flat or a whole commercial kitchen - food premises are done outside trading hours.
A general treatment is covered for 6 months. Cockroaches inside that period mean a free return visit.

Newer homes, tightly spaced, usually slab on ground - so the treatment concentrates on the perimeter and entry points.

Typically one to two hours on site. What extends it is size, access and how far the problem has gone, all of which are accounted for in the quote.
Every general treatment carries a 6-month warranty. That is the point of the warranty - you do not pay twice for the same problem.
