Postcode 2103 covers Mona Vale and the streets immediately around it. At about 23.3 km north-east of the CBD it falls in the Northern Beaches, where we have vans out daily. We run Mona Vale on a regular route, and same-day attendance is usually available.
Around Mona Vale we work the pockets near Basin Beach, Mona Vale Golf Course and Village Park most often, so the van is rarely far away when a job comes in.
The suburb sits in the Northern Beaches area. Warriewood, Newport and Bayview are all covered on the same day, so a problem that has spread across a boundary can be handled in one visit. Salt air and sandy ground keep sub-floors damp here, and damp is what sustains a population.
The cockroach calls we take from Mona Vale are mostly apartments where the problem is really in the building rather than the flat. If yours is one of them, mention it when you ring 1300 313 373 - it changes what the technician brings.
Beyond that we cover the rest of 2103, including the streets around Turimetta Headland Reserve.
Bookings for 2103 are confirmed the day before with a set arrival time, not an all-day window. Jobs at Warriewood and Newport often share the same run, which is how earlier slots come up.
People assume it is about crumbs. It is mostly about moisture. The leaking waste under a Mona Vale sink, condensation behind the fridge or a shower recess that never dries will hold a population on its own.
Two very different problems get called the same thing. Indoors and small means German cockroach and a resident population. Large and occasional means an outdoor species that walked in - and in Mona Vale that usually traces back to a drain, a vent or a gap under a door.
If your Mona Vale neighbour has cockroaches, you have a supply line. The treatment still works, but it needs the entry points sealed and ideally the adjoining property done at the same time.
Knowing the species tells us where the nest is and which treatment will work. Two of these photos are from our own Sydney jobs.

Around 12 to 15 mm, light brown, two dark stripes running back from the head. It never really leaves the building - warmth, a food source and a little moisture keep it going, and it out-breeds every other cockroach in a kitchen.

Reddish-brown and as long as 4 cm. It belongs to the drainage system - sewers, stormwater pits, grease traps, the subfloor - and arrives in the kitchen overnight from there.

Similar in size to the American cockroach but with pale yellow edges near the head and along the wings. Despite the name it is an outdoor species that comes in from gardens, mulch and subfloors.

Small and marked with pale bands. It is the one that does not want water, so it settles high and dry - behind pictures, inside electrical housings, in the top cupboards.

One of our Sydney inspections, showing German cockroach activity. The harbourage itself tells the story: droppings, cast skins and egg cases give us both the species and the scale.

Taken on an Elite commercial job - harbourage inside the equipment itself. Motor cavities, door seals and hollow legs stay warm all night and rarely see a cloth.
Where and when you see them is often a better clue than size. Use this to tell us what you are seeing when you call.
| What you see | Likely species | Where the nest usually is | What treatment focuses on |
|---|---|---|---|
| Daytime sightings near the sink, plus specks of droppings along the joins in cupboards | German cockroach - the one species that lives and breeds indoors | Hinges and drawer runners, the gap behind fridge and dishwasher, behind kickboards, inside motor housings | A bait rotation paired with a growth regulator, placed into cracks rather than sprayed about |
| Large cockroaches turning up at night around wet areas, usually one at a time | American cockroach | The pit system, the subfloor, and any floor-waste trap that has lost its water seal | Pit and drain work, subfloor treatment, and closing off pipe penetrations |
| Sizeable cockroaches with pale edging that appear in the garage or at a back door | Australian cockroach | Leaf litter and mulch, stacked timber, and the roof cavity | Treating the perimeter, dusting the roof void, and reducing harbourage in the garden |
| Small cockroaches behind frames and in the TV cabinet, nowhere near a tap | Brown-banded cockroach | Warm dry furniture, and electrical appliances that run warm | Baiting concentrated in the rooms you live and sleep in |
| Cockroaches returning to a unit however often you treat your own kitchen | German cockroach crossing between units | Common service risers, bin rooms, and the wall cavities that link lots | Treatment coordinated building-wide. See strata pest control |

The egg case - around 30 eggs, carried by the female until just before hatching - is shielded from anything applied to a surface. That is why the population reappears after a DIY attempt.
A female will make several egg cases, and in kitchen warmth her young are breeding within weeks. Small numbers do not stay small.
Foggers and retail sprays drive the population further into cavities and across into neighbouring units, while leaving residue on the surfaces you cook on.
Cast skins, droppings and saliva are recognised asthma and allergy triggers, which makes a long-running infestation a health issue rather than just an annoyance.
What the technician does on the day, in the order it happens.
We identify the species, then go looking with a torch and mirror - hinges, inside appliances, behind the kickboards, into the wall voids. What we find decides the treatment, not a set routine.
We identify the build-up that is feeding them and tell you what to deal with first. The less competing food there is, the harder the bait works.
Professional gel goes down as small dots inside the cracks they already use. A cockroach feeds, goes home, and the product moves through the rest of the colony from there.
The growth regulator keeps nymphs from ever breeding; dust handles the wall voids and cavities that no gel dot can reach.
Pits, floor wastes, the subfloor and the roof void get treated for the American and Australian species - they come in from there, so that is where it has to be done.
You receive a written summary of what was found and done. Heavy activity after two weeks, or a return within the 6-month general-treatment warranty, brings us back free of charge.
Some DIY options help with a few stray cockroaches. An established German cockroach colony is a different job.
| Method | What it does well | Where it falls short |
|---|---|---|
| Aerosol surface spray | Kills on contact, so the visible one goes | Cannot reach an egg case or a void, and repels the remainder into the walls |
| Bug bombs and foggers | Treats the exposed surfaces of a room in one go | Nothing reaches the hiding places, residue settles on food surfaces, and the colony scatters |
| Retail bait stations | Worth using when numbers are genuinely low | There is very little bait in them, and crumbs or grease will beat them every time |
| Professional gel bait rotation | Fed on inside the harbourage and shared through the colony, with the option to swap formulations | Only works with the food competition removed, and needs days to two weeks |
| Insect growth regulator | Blocks nymphs from maturing into breeders and shuts the egg-case cycle down | Takes time to show, so it is always applied together with bait |
Ten minutes of preparation lets the bait reach more cockroaches.
Cockroaches coming out in daylight and moving sluggishly is the normal first sign. The bait and growth regulator are working. Sweep up what you find and carry on.
Through the second week activity should fall away. Leave the bait in place in hinges and cracks, and resist spraying anything over it, which puts cockroaches off feeding.
Still seeing them? Tell the agent or building manager, since the source is often a neighbouring lot. Apartment pest control explains what a building-wide job involves.
Two weeks on and still seeing them regularly, or back inside 6 months of a general treatment? That is a warranty call - 1300 313 373.
Sydney does not give cockroaches an off-season. Around Mona Vale the warm, humid stretch from October through March drives breeding hardest, but a heated Northern Beaches home keeps a kitchen population going through winter without pause.
If cockroaches keep appearing in a Mona Vale bathroom rather than the kitchen, the drain is the first thing we check. They travel the pipework between units and come up wherever the seal has dried out.
We are around Turimetta Headland Reserve and the streets behind it most weeks, and we cover every address in 2103, not just the main roads.
German cockroaches get baits and growth regulators, and drain species get pit and subfloor work. The species decides the treatment.
Gel baits in cracks and hinges, not blanket spraying across benches where you prepare food.
One flat or a whole commercial kitchen - food premises are done outside trading hours.
If cockroaches return inside 6 months of a general treatment, we come back free of charge.

Same-day attendance is usually available. Mona Vale is about 23.3 km north-east of the CBD in the Northern Beaches, and we give you a firm arrival time rather than an all-day window.
The air never really dries out near the water, so sub-floors and lower rooms hold moisture through the year. cockroaches need that damp more than they need food, and here they always have it.
A mix of unit blocks and houses, most with a damp sub-floor or a ground level that sits low - and that is usually where we concentrate.
