Repairing the damage
Wait for confirmation that the colony is dead before repairing anything. Pull out the timber too soon and you remove what they were feeding on. Get a builder to assess the structural members - bearers, studs, roof timbers.

Local technicians, fixed prices and a written report for every job in Castle Hill.
Our Hills District technicians cover Castle Hill and the rest of 2154 as a matter of course - it is only about 25.3 km north-west of the city. We cover Castle Hill on scheduled runs through the Hills District, and we will give you a firm time rather than a window.
Most weeks we are somewhere between Castle Hill Fitness and Aquatic Centre and Farmridge Way Reserve in Castle Hill, and Castle Mall is close enough to be on the same run.
Baulkham Hills, Kellyville and Bella Vista are all on the same route as Castle Hill. Bush edges keep re-supplying the problem, which is why we treat the boundary rather than only the interior.
Castle Hill jobs tend to be homes on sloping blocks with a sub-floor and bush on the boundary. Let us know which when you ring and we will plan the visit around it.
The whole of 2154 is covered, Bounty Avenue Reserve included.
You get a confirmed time, not a window. We plan the 2154 run the day before, and if Baulkham Hills or Kellyville is on the same round there is often an earlier slot going.
Alates look like flying ants. The giveaway is the wings: termite wings are all the same length and shed in piles, ant wings are not. Finding them in a Castle Hill house means a mature colony nearby.
Tap along the skirting, the architraves and the door frames. Sound timber gives a solid note; timber eaten from inside gives a light, drum-like one. It is the cheapest check a Castle Hill owner can do.
Coptotermes is the species that does most of the structural damage in Sydney, and it can nest inside a tree or a wall cavity as well as in soil. Identifying what is in the workings decides the Castle Hill treatment.
Photos from our own Sydney termite jobs. Most properties need one primary method, and some need two working together.

Soil stations placed around the footings. The timber inside draws termites in, bait replaces it, and the nest is destroyed by the workers' own foraging.

Scheduled visits to inspect feeding and replace consumed bait. A baiting program only works if it is kept topped up, which is why the checks are part of it.

Active workings in a door frame or wall cavity can take bait fixed directly over them. Feeding starts at once, which is the fastest way onto a colony.

A treated zone in the soil: termiticide trenched in along the footings, and injected through holes drilled in paving or slab where there is no open soil.

Where the floor is suspended we treat the soil around each pier and along the internal walls - the subfloor is where hidden activity usually starts.

The eaten timber is identified and recorded so a builder can quote. Hold the repairs until the colony is confirmed dead or you may remove what they are feeding on.
What you do in the first day or two affects how quickly the colony can be eliminated.
Resist the spray can. You will kill a few workers and move the rest somewhere you cannot see, leaving nothing to bait.
Leave mud tubes and damaged timber intact. Broken workings dry out and termites may retreat, which slows treatment.
A few photos of the mud tubes, the affected timber or any winged insects, plus a note of where they were, lets us plan the visit properly.
Have a look for a dripping tap, a hot water overflow or an air conditioner drain near where you found them. Damp soil is an attractant and has to be dealt with as well.
Subterranean termites feed continuously, so waiting costs timber. Same-day and next-day inspections are available right across Sydney.
Activity in one lot of a strata building is rarely confined to that lot. Let the strata manager know as soon as you find it.
A licensed Sydney technician will talk it through and give you a fixed quote within half an hour.
Both are recognised approaches for existing buildings under AS 3660.2. The right choice depends on your property.
| Consideration | Baiting system | Chemical soil barrier | Combination |
|---|---|---|---|
| Purpose | Elimination of the colony feeding on the structure | A treated band of soil that affects termites travelling through it | Both: the active colony goes, and new ones are deterred |
| What the work involves | Setting stations into the soil around the building and baiting active workings directly | Trenching the footings and injecting through drilled holes in paths and slabs | The bait goes in first; the soil treatment follows once elimination is confirmed |
| How intrusive it is | Low. Nothing drilled, nothing dug out of the garden | Paving gets small drill holes which are then sealed, and gardens get trenched | Spread over staged visits rather than one disruptive day |
| Maintenance | Scheduled checks of each station, which also serve as monitoring | Longevity depends on the label and the site, and it can be renewed | Ongoing station checks run in parallel with the barrier |
| Suits | Active termites, heavily paved sites, or where chemical use needs limiting | Homes with good access to soil around the footings | Heavy activity, repeat attacks or high-risk sites near bushland |
Want more detail? Our guide to chemical, physical and baiting systems compares them side by side.
Termite treatment is a program over several visits, not a one-off spray.
Species confirmed, workings traced, and the roof void, subfloor and garden inspected to find where the nest and entry points are.
You receive a fixed quote that names the method, the areas, the products and the return visits required.
Depending on the site: bait fixed to active workings, bait into in-ground stations, or termiticide into the soil where they move.
Return visits carry on until there is no activity left, with bait checked and refilled at each. The duration comes down to colony size and season.
With the colony eliminated, the next question is protection - a soil barrier, continued station monitoring, or both together.
Everything applied is recorded in writing, with the recommended date for your next timber pest inspection.
Treatment starts from $179. Your fixed quote comes after we've seen the activity.
| Factor | Why it changes the price |
|---|---|
| Extent of the attack | Contained activity in a single frame costs far less than termites spread across the subfloor and wall framing |
| Treatment method | The three approaches - above-ground bait, in-ground stations, full soil barrier - differ in both product and time |
| Perimeter size and access | A long perimeter, a tight subfloor or a narrow side passage all add hours |
| Hard surfaces | Drilling and injecting through paths, patios and garage slabs is slower than trenching open soil |
| Return visits | A baiting program runs until the colony is eliminated, and a big colony needs more visits to get there |
| What sort of property | A strata block, a commercial site or a house with an extension or granny flat is quoted individually |
For typical scenarios, read how much termite treatment costs in Sydney. Warranty terms for termite work are confirmed in writing with your quote.
Wait for confirmation that the colony is dead before repairing anything. Pull out the timber too soon and you remove what they were feeding on. Get a builder to assess the structural members - bearers, studs, roof timbers.
The in-ground stations are flush to the soil with locking lids. Leave them where they are - not buried in mulch, not concreted over - and tell us before any landscaping so we can relocate them.
A treated zone wants to be left alone. Building a garden bed, laying pavers or adding a deck against the house can breach it, so ring us before that work starts.
AS 3660.2 generally recommends inspections at least every 12 months, and more often in high-risk areas. After treatment, regular inspections are what catch a new colony early.
Treatment removes the colony. These property conditions attract the next one, and most are cheap to fix.
Termite pressure is not even across Sydney and it is not even across Castle Hill either. Blocks with mature trees, poor drainage or timber retaining are the ones worth watching.
Risk is partly about the street, not just the building. Old stumps, timber fences and untreated structures nearby all sustain colonies within foraging distance of a Castle Hill home.
Our Castle Hill work runs from Farmridge Way Reserve out through the back streets and across to the Baulkham Hills boundary. Same price, same technicians.
We hold NSW licence 5122967, and termite work is planned to AS 3660.2 for existing buildings.
The method is chosen after we know where the colony is - not by spraying whatever is in sight.
Products, areas treated and follow-up visits recorded for your files, insurer or a future buyer.
Baiting only works if someone comes back, so the return visits are built into the program from the start.

We cover it on scheduled runs, so a day's notice gets you the best slot. We are about 25.3 km north-west of the city here, and Castle Hill is covered by the Hills District team.
Where bushland adjoins the block, the question is not how termites got in but how often. The perimeter is what decides that.
Houses on larger, often sloping blocks with bush on at least one boundary, so the perimeter and the fence line are central to the job.
We do. A lot of our Castle Hill work is rentals and strata, so the report, the products used and the areas treated are all recorded in writing for whoever needs them.
Yes, with the usual care. Everything is APVMA-registered and used to label, and we will work around pets, aquariums and anyone in the house with a respiratory condition if you tell us when you book.
You do not normally need to leave. Anything requiring an empty room is short, and you will know about it before the work starts.
Usually between one and two hours on site. Bigger properties and heavier infestations take more, and that is included in the quote rather than added afterwards.
Treatments carry a 6-month warranty and we re-inspect annually. Call us if activity picks up again and we will arrange the return visit.
Yes. As well as Castle Hill we cover Baulkham Hills, Kellyville, Bella Vista and Glenwood on the same runs, so a job that crosses a boundary can be handled in one visit.
