Repairing the damage
Repairs come last. Until we confirm there is no activity, replacing timber can take away the bait the colony was feeding on. Structural timber - bearers, studs, roof members - needs a builder's assessment.

What we cover in Northbridge, and how quickly we can get there.
We treat termites right across 2063. Northbridge is roughly 6.3 km north of the city, which puts it well inside the Lower North Shore run our technicians work. Our technicians are through Northbridge most days, so same-day attendance is usually available.
If you are near Clive Park Beach, Northbridge Plaza or Northbridge Golf Club, that is ground we cover constantly - it is the busiest part of Northbridge for us.
We work under the North Sydney, Mosman, Willoughby, Lane Cove and Hunters Hill area here, and Cammeray, Castlecrag and Naremburn are all on the same route, which matters when termite problems are moving between adjoining properties. Period homes near the harbour tend to have sub-floors, original timber and gardens running down to the boundary, so the inspection covers well beyond the kitchen.
Around Northbridge the pattern is fairly consistent: waterfront and near-waterfront homes with damp sub-floors and mature gardens. Tell us which it is on the phone and we will come prepared for it.
Northbridge Park and Harold Reid Reserve are on the same round, which means every part of 2063 is within our area.
The 2063 run is set the day before and you are given an arrival time. Where Cammeray and Castlecrag fall on the same round, we can usually bring the visit forward.
People assume they are covered until they claim. Termite damage is excluded as a maintenance issue, so for a Northbridge home the only protection that exists is finding them early.
Blistered or rippled paint over a flat surface is worth a second look. In Northbridge homes that is frequently workings pushing the paint film up from behind.
Some species are destructive, some barely touch sound timber. We identify from the soldiers in the workings, because treating a Northbridge home for the wrong one wastes the visit.
Photos from our own Sydney termite jobs. Most properties need one primary method, and some need two working together.

Stations go into the ground around the building with timber inside. Termites locate it, we switch the timber for bait, and the colony is eliminated from the inside out.

We come back on a schedule, open each station, record the feeding and refill the bait. Skipped visits are the single most common reason a baiting program does not finish.

If there is active work inside a wall or architrave, we can mount bait straight onto it, which puts the colony onto bait immediately rather than waiting for them to find a station.

We trench along the footings and apply termiticide, drilling and injecting through paths and slabs where trenching is not possible, so the treated zone is continuous.

The subfloor is included on suspended floors - soil around the piers and along the walls - since that is the usual starting point for activity nobody saw.

We mark up where the timber has gone so a builder can assess structural work - scheduled after, not before, the colony is confirmed eliminated.
What you do in the first day or two affects how quickly the colony can be eliminated.
Resist the spray can. You will kill a few workers and move the rest somewhere you cannot see, leaving nothing to bait.
Leave the mud tubing and the damaged timber as you found it. Once broken open it dries out and termites abandon it.
A few photos of the mud tubes, the affected timber or any winged insects, plus a note of where they were, lets us plan the visit properly.
Check for leaking taps, hot water overflow or air conditioner drip lines near the spot. Damp soil draws termites and needs fixing too.
Subterranean termites keep eating while you wait. Same-day and next-day inspections of active termites are available across Sydney.
Townhouse or unit? Notify the strata manager promptly, because common property is usually involved.
One call to a licensed Sydney technician gets you straight advice and a fixed quote within 30 minutes.
Both are recognised approaches for existing buildings under AS 3660.2. The right choice depends on your property.
| Consideration | Baiting system | Chemical soil barrier | Combination |
|---|---|---|---|
| Purpose | Elimination of the colony feeding on the structure | A treated band of soil that affects termites travelling through it | Both: the active colony goes, and new ones are deterred |
| How it is applied | Perimeter stations in the ground, plus bait placed straight onto working termites | Trenched along the footings, drilled and injected under concrete | Staged: baiting, then soil treatment after the colony is dead |
| Site disturbance | Almost none: no drilling through paths, no excavating garden beds | Small sealed drill holes in paving, and trenching where there are gardens | Spread across the staged visits |
| Maintenance | Scheduled checks of each station, which also serve as monitoring | Longevity depends on the label and the site, and it can be renewed | Ongoing station checks run in parallel with the barrier |
| Where it fits | Active termites, sites that are mostly paved, and cases where less chemical is preferred | Buildings where the soil around the footings is readily accessible | Heavy infestations, repeat attacks, and high-risk sites backing onto bushland |

Termite treatment is a program over several visits, not a one-off spray.
Species confirmed, workings traced, and the roof void, subfloor and garden inspected to find where the nest and entry points are.
A fixed written quote: which method, which areas, which products, and how many follow-up visits it needs.
Depending on the site: bait fixed to active workings, bait into in-ground stations, or termiticide into the soil where they move.
We keep coming back to read the feeding and refill bait until the activity ends. How long that takes depends on the colony and the time of year.
After elimination we advise on protection: a chemical soil barrier, ongoing monitoring through the stations, or a combination of the two.
Everything applied is recorded in writing, with the recommended date for your next timber pest inspection.
Treatment starts from $179. Your fixed quote comes after we've seen the activity.
| Factor | Why it changes the price |
|---|---|
| How far it has spread | One door frame is quick. Activity through the subfloor and into the wall frames is a much bigger job |
| Which method is used | Above-ground bait, in-ground stations and a full soil barrier each take different product and labour |
| Perimeter size and access | A long perimeter, a tight subfloor or a narrow side passage all add hours |
| Hard surfaces | Drilling and injecting through paths, patios and garage slabs is slower than trenching open soil |
| Number of follow-ups | Return visits carry on until the colony is gone - larger colonies take more of them |
| Kind of property | Strata, commercial and extended homes - including granny flats - are individually scoped |

Repairs come last. Until we confirm there is no activity, replacing timber can take away the bait the colony was feeding on. Structural timber - bearers, studs, roof members - needs a builder's assessment.
Stations sit level with the soil and lock shut. They must not be moved, mulched over or paved across. If landscaping is coming, let us know first and we will relocate them.
A treated zone wants to be left alone. Building a garden bed, laying pavers or adding a deck against the house can breach it, so ring us before that work starts.
Annual inspections at minimum under AS 3660.2, and more frequently in high-risk locations. Once a property has had termites, those inspections are what protect it.
Treatment removes the colony. These property conditions attract the next one, and most are cheap to fix.
The Lower North Shore has its own pattern - the properties backing onto reserve, gully or paddock see the most pressure, and those are the ones where an annual inspection genuinely earns its cost.
Pre-purchase is when this matters most. A report naming active termites or past damage in a Northbridge house changes the price or the decision - but only if you have it before you sign.
If you are anywhere in 2063, or over toward Cammeray, you are inside the area we cover for inspections and treatment.
We hold NSW licence 5122967, and termite work is planned to AS 3660.2 for existing buildings.
Finding the source comes before picking a treatment. Spraying the visible workers is not a plan.
Products, areas treated and follow-up visits recorded for your files, insurer or a future buyer.
Baiting only works if someone comes back, so the return visits are built into the program from the start.

Same-day attendance is usually available. Northbridge is about 6.3 km north of the CBD in the Lower North Shore, and we give you a firm arrival time rather than an all-day window.
The combination here is age and moisture. Older houses near the harbour rarely have sub-floor ventilation that still works, and termites settle in what that leaves behind.
Older houses and converted blocks, frequently on a slope with a lower level cut into it - which is where we usually start.
Yes. We work in houses, units, strata blocks, rentals and commercial premises across Northbridge 2063, and we provide the written report agents and strata managers ask for.
Yes, when it is applied properly. We use registered products at label rates and tell you which areas to keep clear and for how long. Mention pets, fish tanks or allergies when you book.
You do not normally need to leave. Anything requiring an empty room is short, and you will know about it before the work starts.
Typically one to two hours on site. What extends it is size, access and how far the problem has gone, all of which are accounted for in the quote.
Treatments carry a 6-month warranty and we re-inspect annually. Ring us if activity picks up again inside that period and we will arrange the return.
All of them. Northbridge sits alongside Cammeray, Castlecrag, Naremburn and Cremorne in our coverage, and they are serviced on the same schedule.
