Termites in Putney, and Why
What is different about this part of Sydney, and what that means for treatment.
What makes Putney different
Putney sits in Ryde & the Northern District, an established northern belt of brick homes, riverside pockets and a fast-growing business precinct. Post-war brick homes and Federation houses on generous blocks sit alongside new apartment towers around the stations and Macquarie Park, with mature gardens and large roof voids that shelter pests.
Different species need different treatment, and Putney sees more than one. Identifying what is actually in the workings decides whether baiting or a barrier is the right answer.
Older timber-framed housing on small lots, with sub-floors that were never meant to be sealed, gives termites a direct path up into the frame.
Being 10.6 km north-west of the CBD, Putney is well inside our standard service area with no travel surcharge.
The Ryde & the Northern District callout mix is dominated by rodents, ants, spiders and cockroaches, with termites near the top of it.
How we treat it in Putney
We start with a full inspection of the sub-floor, roof void where it is accessible, garden, fences and outbuildings, then work out whether baiting or a soil treatment suits what we find. You get a written report either way.
The Putney work we see clusters around Rhodes Waterside Shopping Centre, Village Plaza Shopping Centre, Rhodes station, Meadowbank station, Cleves Park and Anderson Park, though we treat every street in 2112.
We treat Tennyson Point, Ryde, Mortlake and Rhodes on the same runs, so a booking in Putney often lines up with one next door.
2112 takes in Putney along with Tennyson Point, and we work the lot.
The blocks either side of Anderson Park are familiar ground for our technicians.
Termite treatment starts from $179 and a full timber pest inspection from $159. Treatments carry a 6-month warranty and we re-inspect annually.
Signs of Termite in Putney
What our technicians look for first on a Putney callout.
Doors and windows sticking
Frames swelling out of square without a change in weather can mean moisture and workings in the timber.
Discarded wings after rain
Small piles of shed wings on a sill or in a web after a warm, humid evening mean a flight has happened nearby.
Mud in a weep hole
Weep holes packed with soil are a bridge straight past the brickwork.
