Repairing the damage
Do not start repairs yet. Early timber replacement can remove the feeding site, and the colony needs to be confirmed dead first. A builder should look at the bearers, studs and roof timbers.

Local technicians, fixed prices and a written report for every job in Wollstonecraft.
Wollstonecraft is part of the Lower North Shore, 4.3 km or so north-west of the GPO, and 2065 is a postcode we know well. Our technicians are through Wollstonecraft most days, so same-day attendance is usually available.
Our Wollstonecraft work takes in the streets by Lane Cove Country Club and Wollstonecraft station, through to Milray Reserve at the other end.
The suburb sits in the North Sydney, Mosman, Willoughby, Lane Cove and Hunters Hill area. Greenwich, Waverton and North Sydney are all covered on the same day, so a problem that has spread across a boundary can be handled in one visit. The mix here is older houses and converted blocks near the water, where moisture under the floor is usually part of the story.
Around Wollstonecraft the pattern is fairly consistent: older homes near the water with a sub-floor that never fully dries. Tell us which it is on the phone and we will come prepared for it.
We cover the remainder of 2065 as well, from Greenwich Baths through to Greenwood Plaza.
Bookings for 2065 are confirmed the day before with a set arrival time, not an all-day window. Jobs at Greenwich and Waverton often share the same run, which is how earlier slots come up.
Subterranean termites must stay in contact with soil moisture, so they build pencil-width mud tubes to carry it with them. On a Wollstonecraft pier, slab edge or internal wall, those tubes are the most reliable sign there is.
Tap along the skirting, the architraves and the door frames. Sound timber gives a solid note; timber eaten from inside gives a light, drum-like one. It is the cheapest check a Wollstonecraft owner can do.
The slab edge is meant to be visible so workings show. In a lot of Wollstonecraft properties landscaping has buried it, which hands termites an invisible route in.
Photos from our own Sydney termite jobs. Most properties need one primary method, and some need two working together.

Stations go into the ground around the building with timber inside. Termites locate it, we switch the timber for bait, and the colony is eliminated from the inside out.

Stations are opened on a schedule to check for feeding and top up bait. Missed checks are a common reason baiting programs stall.

Where we find them working in a frame or wall lining, bait goes on over the workings themselves and the colony begins feeding the same day.

Termiticide applied into a trench along the footings, or injected through drilled holes in paths and slabs, creating a treated zone in the soil around the building.

Where the floor is suspended we treat the soil around each pier and along the internal walls - the subfloor is where hidden activity usually starts.

We walk you through the damaged timber and record it for your builder. Repairs come after elimination is confirmed, not before.
What you do in the first day or two affects how quickly the colony can be eliminated.
A can of spray takes out the ones you can see and sends the rest away from that spot - which removes the one place bait could have reached them.
Don't pull the workings apart. Exposed tubes dry and the colony retreats, which costs time on the treatment.
A few photos of the mud tubes, the affected timber or any winged insects, plus a note of where they were, lets us plan the visit properly.
Check what is wetting the soil nearby: taps, hot water overflow, condensate lines. That damp is part of why they are there.
Every day of delay is more timber gone. Active termite inspections are available same or next day anywhere in Sydney.

Both are recognised approaches for existing buildings under AS 3660.2. The right choice depends on your property.
| Consideration | Baiting system | Chemical soil barrier | Combination |
|---|---|---|---|
| What it achieves | The colony feeding on the house is eliminated | Termites crossing the treated soil around the building are affected | Clears the current attack and defends against the following one |
| Installation | In-ground stations around the perimeter, with bait fixed to any live workings | A trench along the footings, plus drilling and injection where there is paving or slab | Baiting to start, and the soil work once the colony has gone |
| Site disturbance | Almost none: no drilling through paths, no excavating garden beds | Small sealed drill holes in paving, and trenching where there are gardens | Spread across the staged visits |
| Looking after it | Stations get opened on a schedule and remain as a monitoring system | Label and site determine the service life; it can be re-applied later | Station monitoring continues for as long as the barrier is in service |
| Suits | Active termites, heavily paved sites, or where chemical use needs limiting | Homes with good access to soil around the footings | Heavy activity, repeat attacks or high-risk sites near bushland |

Termite treatment is a program over several visits, not a one-off spray.
First the species, then the extent: we follow the mud tubing and workings and inspect the roof void, the subfloor and the garden for the nest and the way in.
You get a fixed quote naming the method, areas to be treated, products and the follow-up visits needed.
We put bait onto the live workings or into in-ground stations, or treat the soil they travel through with termiticide.
Monitoring runs until elimination: each visit records feeding and replenishes bait. Bigger colonies and cooler months take longer.
Once the colony is gone, we recommend a soil barrier, ongoing station monitoring, or both, to lower the risk of a new attack.
A written record of every product and location, and a date for the next timber pest inspection.
Treatment starts from $179. Your fixed quote comes after we've seen the activity.
| Factor | Why it changes the price |
|---|---|
| Where they are working | A single affected door frame is a small job; activity through the subfloor and wall frames is not |
| Method | Product volume and labour vary considerably between above-ground baiting, in-ground stations and a full barrier |
| Access and perimeter | Long footings, restricted subfloor height and narrow passages down the side all add labour |
| Hard surfaces | Drilling and injecting through paths, patios and garage slabs is slower than trenching open soil |
| Follow-up visits | Baiting needs return visits until the colony is gone, and larger colonies can need more of them |
| What sort of property | A strata block, a commercial site or a house with an extension or granny flat is quoted individually |

Do not start repairs yet. Early timber replacement can remove the feeding site, and the colony needs to be confirmed dead first. A builder should look at the bearers, studs and roof timbers.
Stations sit level with the soil and lock shut. They must not be moved, mulched over or paved across. If landscaping is coming, let us know first and we will relocate them.
Treated soil works best left undisturbed. New garden beds, pavers or a deck against the house can break the treated zone, so call us before those works.
Annual inspections at minimum under AS 3660.2, and more frequently in high-risk locations. Once a property has had termites, those inspections are what protect it.
Treatment removes the colony. These property conditions attract the next one, and most are cheap to fix.
Risk is partly about the street, not just the building. Old stumps, timber fences and untreated structures nearby all sustain colonies within foraging distance of a Wollstonecraft home.
Our Wollstonecraft work runs from Greenwich Baths out through the back streets and across to the Greenwich boundary. Same price, same technicians.
Timber retaining walls, sleepers and old fence posts around Wollstonecraft properties are all food. They also hide workings, which is why we look at them specifically.

Source first, method second. Spraying the termites in front of you leaves the colony untouched.
You get written records of products used, areas treated and visits made, suitable for an insurer or a buyer's inspector.
The follow-up visits are part of the program, so a baiting job does not get abandoned halfway.

Same-day attendance is usually available. We are about 4.3 km north-west of the city here, and Wollstonecraft is covered by the Lower North Shore team.
Sub-floor ventilation on these older homes was designed for an open garden, and most of those gardens are now paved or planted out. The damp that leaves behind is what sustains termites.
Large older homes and converted apartments, with damp lower levels the recurring theme.
We do. A lot of our Wollstonecraft work is rentals and strata, so the report, the products used and the areas treated are all recorded in writing for whoever needs them.
Yes. Everything we use is registered for the purpose and applied at label rates, and we place product where people and animals do not go. Tell us about pets, aquariums or anyone with a respiratory condition at booking.
In the great majority of jobs, no. If one area needs to be left for an hour or two we say so before we start rather than after.
An hour to two hours covers most jobs. The size of the building and the extent of the problem are what change it.
Treatments carry a 6-month warranty and we re-inspect annually. A return visit inside that period does not cost you anything.
Yes. As well as Wollstonecraft we cover Greenwich, Waverton, North Sydney and Crows Nest on the same runs, so a job that crosses a boundary can be handled in one visit.
