Repairing the damage
Repairs come last. Until we confirm there is no activity, replacing timber can take away the bait the colony was feeding on. Structural timber - bearers, studs, roof members - needs a builder's assessment.

Where Woolwich sits, who covers it and what it costs.
Our Lower North Shore technicians cover Woolwich and the rest of 2110 as a matter of course - it is only about 4.7 km north-west of the city. Our technicians are through Woolwich most days, so same-day attendance is usually available.
Around Woolwich we work the pockets near Lane Cove Country Club, Clarkes Point Reserve and Woolwich Baths Beach most often, so the van is rarely far away when a job comes in.
The suburb sits in the North Sydney, Mosman, Willoughby, Lane Cove and Hunters Hill area. Longueville, Birchgrove and Greenwich are all covered on the same day, so a problem that has spread across a boundary can be handled in one visit. A lot of the housing here is older and close to the water, so sub-floors and lower levels hold damp - and damp is what keeps a population going.
Most Woolwich bookings come in as waterfront and near-waterfront homes with damp sub-floors and mature gardens. Say which one applies when you call 1300 313 373 and the technician will have the right products on the van.
Birkenhead Point Outlet Centre and the remainder of 2110 are on the same run.
Your appointment is confirmed the day before with a real arrival time. Because Longueville and Birchgrove are covered on the same round, 2110 often has an earlier slot available.
Blistered or rippled paint over a flat surface is worth a second look. In Woolwich homes that is frequently workings pushing the paint film up from behind.
Some species are destructive, some barely touch sound timber. We identify from the soldiers in the workings, because treating a Woolwich home for the wrong one wastes the visit.
On warm, humid evenings a mature colony releases winged reproductives. If you find small piles of shed wings on a Woolwich windowsill or in a web, a flight has happened close by - often on your own block.
Photos from our own Sydney termite jobs. Most properties need one primary method, and some need two working together.

We install stations in the soil around the perimeter. They hold timber first; when termites start feeding on it we replace that with bait, and they take it home to the nest.

The stations get opened, read and refilled on a regular cycle. Let that slip and the program stalls - it is the usual explanation for one that never completed.

Where termites are working inside a wall or door frame, bait can be fixed directly over the active workings so the colony starts feeding straight away.

A treated zone in the soil: termiticide trenched in along the footings, and injected through holes drilled in paving or slab where there is no open soil.

With a suspended floor the piers and wall lines are part of the job. Most concealed termite activity we find started under the house.

We show you where timber has been eaten so a builder can assess repairs, which should wait until the colony is confirmed dead.
What you do in the first day or two affects how quickly the colony can be eliminated.
A can of spray takes out the ones you can see and sends the rest away from that spot - which removes the one place bait could have reached them.
Leave the mud tubing and the damaged timber as you found it. Once broken open it dries out and termites abandon it.
Take pictures of anything you have seen and remember where. It tells us what to bring and where to start.
Moisture is usually part of the story: a leaking tap, the hot water overflow, the air conditioner condensate line. Damp soil pulls termites in, so it needs fixing too.
They do not stop while you think about it. We hold same-day and next-day slots across Sydney for active termites.
In strata, termites in your lot very often involve common property, so the manager needs to hear about it early rather than late.

Both are recognised approaches for existing buildings under AS 3660.2. The right choice depends on your property.
| Consideration | Baiting system | Chemical soil barrier | Combination |
|---|---|---|---|
| Purpose | Elimination of the colony feeding on the structure | A treated band of soil that affects termites travelling through it | Both: the active colony goes, and new ones are deterred |
| What the work involves | Setting stations into the soil around the building and baiting active workings directly | Trenching the footings and injecting through drilled holes in paths and slabs | The bait goes in first; the soil treatment follows once elimination is confirmed |
| Disruption to the property | Very little - no paths drilled, no garden beds dug up | Small holes through paving, sealed afterwards, and trenching along garden beds | Shared out over several staged visits |
| Ongoing maintenance | Regular scheduled station checks, which double as ongoing monitoring | How long it lasts comes down to the product label and the site, and it can be re-applied | The station checks carry on while the barrier does its job |
| Best suited to | Live activity, properties with a lot of paving, or where chemical use must be kept down | Houses with decent access to open soil along the footings | Serious activity, properties attacked before, or high-risk blocks near bush |

Termite treatment is a program over several visits, not a one-off spray.
We identify the termites, trace mud tubes and workings, and check the roof void, subfloor and garden for the likely nest and entry points.
A fixed written quote: which method, which areas, which products, and how many follow-up visits it needs.
Depending on the site: bait fixed to active workings, bait into in-ground stations, or termiticide into the soil where they move.
Return visits carry on until there is no activity left, with bait checked and refilled at each. The duration comes down to colony size and season.
Elimination is not protection. We recommend a soil barrier, continued station monitoring, or both, so a fresh colony does not simply replace the last one.
A written record of every product and location, and a date for the next timber pest inspection.
Treatment starts from $179. Your fixed quote comes after we've seen the activity.
| Factor | Why it changes the price |
|---|---|
| How far it has spread | One door frame is quick. Activity through the subfloor and into the wall frames is a much bigger job |
| The approach taken | Bait above ground, stations in the ground and a complete soil barrier are not comparable on product or labour |
| Perimeter length & access | Long perimeters, low subfloor clearance and narrow side passages add time |
| Paved areas | Any path, patio or garage slab needing drilling and injection adds time over open soil |
| Number of follow-ups | Return visits carry on until the colony is gone - larger colonies take more of them |
| Building type | Strata buildings, commercial sites and homes with extensions or granny flats are scoped individually |

You will have in-ground stations sitting flush with locking lids. Keep them clear of mulch and concrete, leave them in place, and call before landscaping so we can relocate them.
Leave the treated soil undisturbed. New beds, paving or decking against the wall can cut through the zone - call us first and we will plan around it.
The standard, AS 3660.2, recommends an inspection at least annually and more frequently where risk is high. After a treatment, those inspections are how a new colony gets caught early.
Treatment removes the colony. These property conditions attract the next one, and most are cheap to fix.
Risk is partly about the street, not just the building. Old stumps, timber fences and untreated structures nearby all sustain colonies within foraging distance of a Woolwich home.
Termites will nest inside a living tree. If there is a mature gum close to a Woolwich house, that is worth including in the inspection rather than assuming the risk is only in the soil.
Our Woolwich work runs from Woolwich Baths Beach out through the back streets and across to the Longueville boundary. Same price, same technicians.
Licensed in NSW under 5122967, with every termite job planned around AS 3660.2.
Source first, method second. Spraying the termites in front of you leaves the colony untouched.
Products, areas and follow-ups all recorded, so you have the paperwork for your file, your insurer or a sale.
The follow-up visits are part of the program, so a baiting job does not get abandoned halfway.

Get a Free QuoteTermite treatment starts from $179 and a full timber pest inspection from $159. Two things move it: how big the place is, and how far it has already spread. We work that out on the phone or on site and tell you the figure before anything starts in Woolwich. Treatments carry a 6-month warranty and we re-inspect annually.
Same-day attendance is usually available. Woolwich is about 4.7 km north-west of the CBD in the Lower North Shore, and we give you a firm arrival time rather than an all-day window.
Sub-floor ventilation on these older homes was designed for an open garden, and most of those gardens are now paved or planted out. The damp that leaves behind is what sustains termites.
Period stock on sloping blocks. The lower level and the sub-floor do most of the explaining.
We do. A lot of our Woolwich work is rentals and strata, so the report, the products used and the areas treated are all recorded in writing for whoever needs them.
Yes, applied correctly. Products are registered for this use, placed out of reach rather than across open surfaces, and you will know what to stay off and for how long.
Usually not. Most of the work is done with you in the house, and where a room does need to be clear it is for a short period we will tell you about on arrival.
Typically one to two hours on site. What extends it is size, access and how far the problem has gone, all of which are accounted for in the quote.
Treatments carry a 6-month warranty and we re-inspect annually. A return visit inside that period does not cost you anything.
We do. Woolwich and Longueville, Birchgrove, Greenwich and Drummoyne are all on the same route, which helps if you own more than one property in the area.
