Repairing the damage
Hold off on repairs until we confirm the colony is no longer active. Replacing timber too early can remove the bait termites were feeding on. A builder should assess structural members like bearers, studs and roof timbers.

Where Chippendale sits, who covers it and what it costs.
Postcode 2008 covers Chippendale and the streets immediately around it. At about 2.1 km south-west of the CBD it falls in the Sydney CBD & Inner City, where we have vans out daily. Our technicians are through Chippendale most days, so same-day attendance is usually available.
Our Chippendale work takes in the streets by Prince Alfred Park and Belmore Park, through to Central Park Mall at the other end.
Ultimo, Darlington and Haymarket are all on the same route as Chippendale. In a tower the population is usually shared. We treat your unit and tell you plainly if the source is common property, because that is what the building has to act on.
What we see in Chippendale is flats where the neighbouring lot is the actual source. Describing it accurately when you book saves a second visit.
Beyond that we are regularly around Broadway Shopping Centre, and out as far as Central station. If you are anywhere in 2008, you are inside the area we run.
The 2008 run is set the day before and you are given an arrival time. Where Ultimo and Darlington fall on the same round, we can usually bring the visit forward.
Alates look like flying ants. The giveaway is the wings: termite wings are all the same length and shed in piles, ant wings are not. Finding them in a Chippendale house means a mature colony nearby.
Anything with cellulose in it is food: the frame, yes, but also joinery, floorboards, the lining paper on plasterboard, and the boxes stacked in the garage.
If you find a mud tube on a Chippendale foundation, do not break it open. Disturbing the workings scatters the colony and makes the job harder; photograph it and leave it.
Photos from our own Sydney termite jobs. Most properties need one primary method, and some need two working together.

We install stations in the soil around the perimeter. They hold timber first; when termites start feeding on it we replace that with bait, and they take it home to the nest.

We come back on a schedule, open each station, record the feeding and refill the bait. Skipped visits are the single most common reason a baiting program does not finish.

Where termites are working inside a wall or door frame, bait can be fixed directly over the active workings so the colony starts feeding straight away.

We trench along the footings and apply termiticide, drilling and injecting through paths and slabs where trenching is not possible, so the treated zone is continuous.

In suspended floors, the soil around piers and along the walls is included, because subfloors are where concealed activity very often begins.

We show you where timber has been eaten so a builder can assess repairs, which should wait until the colony is confirmed dead.
What you do in the first day or two affects how quickly the colony can be eliminated.
Please do not spray. It kills the visible workers and causes the colony to abandon the site, and an abandoned site is useless for baiting.
Mud tubes and eaten timber are best left alone. Open them up and they dry out, the termites withdraw, and the treatment takes longer.
Take pictures of anything you have seen and remember where. It tells us what to bring and where to start.
Look around for water - leaks, overflow pipes, the air conditioner drip. Termites want damp soil, and treating without fixing it leaves the attraction in place.
Subterranean termites feed continuously, so waiting costs timber. Same-day and next-day inspections are available right across Sydney.
Activity in one lot of a strata building is rarely confined to that lot. Let the strata manager know as soon as you find it.
One call to a licensed Sydney technician gets you straight advice and a fixed quote within 30 minutes.
Both are recognised approaches for existing buildings under AS 3660.2. The right choice depends on your property.
| Consideration | Baiting system | Chemical soil barrier | Combination |
|---|---|---|---|
| What it achieves | The colony feeding on the house is eliminated | Termites crossing the treated soil around the building are affected | Clears the current attack and defends against the following one |
| What the work involves | Setting stations into the soil around the building and baiting active workings directly | Trenching the footings and injecting through drilled holes in paths and slabs | The bait goes in first; the soil treatment follows once elimination is confirmed |
| How intrusive it is | Low. Nothing drilled, nothing dug out of the garden | Paving gets small drill holes which are then sealed, and gardens get trenched | Spread over staged visits rather than one disruptive day |
| What it needs afterwards | The stations are checked on schedule and stay in place as monitoring | Service life is set by the product label and the site conditions; re-application is possible | Stations keep being checked alongside the working barrier |
| Suits | Active termites, heavily paved sites, or where chemical use needs limiting | Homes with good access to soil around the footings | Heavy activity, repeat attacks or high-risk sites near bushland |

Termite treatment is a program over several visits, not a one-off spray.
Identification comes first, then we trace the workings and search the roof void, subfloor and garden to locate the nest and the entry points.
You get a fixed quote naming the method, areas to be treated, products and the follow-up visits needed.
The active colony is treated either by baiting - directly on the workings or via in-ground stations - or by applying termiticide to the soil on their route.
Return visits check feeding and top up bait until activity stops. Timing depends on colony size and season.
Elimination is not protection. We recommend a soil barrier, continued station monitoring, or both, so a fresh colony does not simply replace the last one.
You receive a written record of what was applied and where, plus a recommended date for your next timber pest inspection.
Treatment starts from $179. Your fixed quote comes after we've seen the activity.
| Factor | Why it changes the price |
|---|---|
| Where the activity is | Termites in one door frame need far less work than activity spread through a subfloor and wall frames |
| Method chosen | Above-ground baiting, in-ground stations and full soil barriers use different amounts of product and labour |
| Perimeter length & access | Long perimeters, low subfloor clearance and narrow side passages add time |
| Paved areas | Any path, patio or garage slab needing drilling and injection adds time over open soil |
| Return visits | A baiting program runs until the colony is eliminated, and a big colony needs more visits to get there |
| Kind of property | Strata, commercial and extended homes - including granny flats - are individually scoped |

Hold off on repairs until we confirm the colony is no longer active. Replacing timber too early can remove the bait termites were feeding on. A builder should assess structural members like bearers, studs and roof timbers.
You will have in-ground stations sitting flush with locking lids. Keep them clear of mulch and concrete, leave them in place, and call before landscaping so we can relocate them.
Treated soil should not be dug up. If a garden bed, paving or a deck is going in against the house, call us before it does.
Annual inspections at minimum under AS 3660.2, and more frequently in high-risk locations. Once a property has had termites, those inspections are what protect it.
Treatment removes the colony. These property conditions attract the next one, and most are cheap to fix.
Our Chippendale work runs from Central Park Mall out through the back streets and across to the Ultimo boundary. Same price, same technicians.
An old stump left in a Chippendale backyard is a colony waiting to happen, and it sits metres from the house. Removing stumps and off-ground storing firewood costs nothing and removes a food source.
Termites do not respect boundaries. A neglected yard or a demolition next door in Chippendale can push foraging onto your property, which is why we inspect fence lines and boundaries rather than only the house.

The method is chosen after we know where the colony is - not by spraying whatever is in sight.
You get written records of products used, areas treated and visits made, suitable for an insurer or a buyer's inspector.
The follow-up visits are part of the program, so a baiting job does not get abandoned halfway.

Same-day attendance is usually available. Chippendale sits roughly 2.1 km south-west of the CBD, inside our Sydney CBD & Inner City run, so we book a time and keep to it.
In a building this dense the population is rarely confined to one lot. Service risers, bin rooms and the cavities between units give termites a route between flats, so a problem on one floor becomes a problem on three.
Mostly apartments, so we treat your lot and, where the source is common property, give you something in writing to take to the building manager.
Yes. Houses, townhouses, units, strata common property, rentals and commercial sites in Chippendale 2008 are all part of what we do, and the paperwork is the kind agents accept.
It is, provided the instructions are followed. We will tell you what to keep clear of and for how long before we leave. Let us know about children, pets or fish tanks when you book.
Normally you can stay. Some treatments mean keeping out of a particular room briefly, and we will flag that when we arrive so you can plan around it.
Between one and two hours covers the majority of jobs. We do not book so tightly that a technician has to cut a job short.
Treatments carry a 6-month warranty and we re-inspect annually. That is the point of the warranty - you do not pay twice for the same problem.
We cover the whole of Chippendale, from the streets around Central Park Mall out to the suburb boundary and on into Ultimo.
