Repairing the damage
Do not start repairs yet. Early timber replacement can remove the feeding site, and the colony needs to be confirmed dead first. A builder should look at the bearers, studs and roof timbers.
Termite Control in Haymarket 2000 — local technicians, fixed prices and a written report. Termite treatment starts from $179 and a full timber pest inspection from $159.

Local technicians, fixed prices and a written report for every job in Haymarket.
Haymarket sits about 1.5 km south-west of the CBD in the Sydney CBD & Inner City, and postcode 2000 is one we are in most weeks. Our technicians are through Haymarket most days, so same-day attendance is usually available.
Around Haymarket we work the pockets near Broadway Shopping Centre, Central station and Museum station most often, so the van is rarely far away when a job comes in.
We cover Ultimo, Chippendale and Surry Hills on the same runs as Haymarket, which helps when termite problems are moving between neighbouring properties. In a tower the population is usually shared. We treat your unit and tell you plainly if the source is common property, because that is what the building has to act on.
What we see in Haymarket is flats where the neighbouring lot is the actual source. Describing it accurately when you book saves a second visit.
The rest of 2000 is covered too, including the pockets around Belmore Park and Tumbalong Park.
Bookings for 2000 are confirmed the day before with a set arrival time, not an all-day window. Jobs at Ultimo and Chippendale often share the same run, which is how earlier slots come up.
The rate is not the issue - the concealment is. By the time a cornice cracks or a skirting gives way, the colony has usually been feeding on that Haymarket frame for a long time.
Alates look like flying ants. The giveaway is the wings: termite wings are all the same length and shed in piles, ant wings are not. Finding them in a Haymarket house means a mature colony nearby.
Some species are destructive, some barely touch sound timber. We identify from the soldiers in the workings, because treating a Haymarket home for the wrong one wastes the visit.
Photos from our own Sydney termite jobs. Most properties need one primary method, and some need two working together.

Soil stations placed around the footings. The timber inside draws termites in, bait replaces it, and the nest is destroyed by the workers' own foraging.

The stations get opened, read and refilled on a regular cycle. Let that slip and the program stalls - it is the usual explanation for one that never completed.

Where we find them working in a frame or wall lining, bait goes on over the workings themselves and the colony begins feeding the same day.

Termiticide applied into a trench along the footings, or injected through drilled holes in paths and slabs, creating a treated zone in the soil around the building.

With a suspended floor the piers and wall lines are part of the job. Most concealed termite activity we find started under the house.

We show you where timber has been eaten so a builder can assess repairs, which should wait until the colony is confirmed dead.
What you do in the first day or two affects how quickly the colony can be eliminated.
Please do not spray. It kills the visible workers and causes the colony to abandon the site, and an abandoned site is useless for baiting.
Don't pull the workings apart. Exposed tubes dry and the colony retreats, which costs time on the treatment.
Photograph mud tubes, damaged timber or winged insects and note where you saw them. It helps us plan the visit.
Look around for water - leaks, overflow pipes, the air conditioner drip. Termites want damp soil, and treating without fixing it leaves the attraction in place.
Subterranean termites keep eating while you wait. Same-day and next-day inspections of active termites are available across Sydney.
If you are in a unit or townhouse, activity in your lot usually touches common property - tell the strata manager early.

Both are recognised approaches for existing buildings under AS 3660.2. The right choice depends on your property.
| Consideration | Baiting system | Chemical soil barrier | Combination |
|---|---|---|---|
| The job it does | Wipes out the colony currently eating the building | Treats the soil around the building so anything crossing it is affected | Deals with the live colony, then protects against new arrivals |
| What the work involves | Setting stations into the soil around the building and baiting active workings directly | Trenching the footings and injecting through drilled holes in paths and slabs | The bait goes in first; the soil treatment follows once elimination is confirmed |
| How intrusive it is | Low. Nothing drilled, nothing dug out of the garden | Paving gets small drill holes which are then sealed, and gardens get trenched | Spread over staged visits rather than one disruptive day |
| Maintenance | Scheduled checks of each station, which also serve as monitoring | Longevity depends on the label and the site, and it can be renewed | Ongoing station checks run in parallel with the barrier |
| Typically chosen for | Active termites, sites under extensive paving, or where chemical input must be minimised | Properties where there is good access to the soil at the footings | Heavy activity, a history of attacks, or a high-risk bushland block |

Termite treatment is a program over several visits, not a one-off spray.
We identify the termites, trace mud tubes and workings, and check the roof void, subfloor and garden for the likely nest and entry points.
A fixed written quote: which method, which areas, which products, and how many follow-up visits it needs.
Depending on the site: bait fixed to active workings, bait into in-ground stations, or termiticide into the soil where they move.
Return visits carry on until there is no activity left, with bait checked and refilled at each. The duration comes down to colony size and season.
Once the colony is gone, we recommend a soil barrier, ongoing station monitoring, or both, to lower the risk of a new attack.
You get the paperwork - what went where - along with when the next timber pest inspection is due.
Treatment starts from $179. Your fixed quote comes after we've seen the activity.
| Factor | Why it changes the price |
|---|---|
| Location of the activity | Termites confined to one architrave take far less work than activity running through a subfloor and the wall framing |
| Method chosen | Above-ground baiting, in-ground stations and full soil barriers use different amounts of product and labour |
| How big and how reachable | Time goes up with perimeter length, and again with low subfloor clearance or narrow side access |
| Concrete to work through | Open soil can be trenched quickly; paths, patios and slabs have to be drilled and injected |
| Follow-up visits | Baiting needs return visits until the colony is gone, and larger colonies can need more of them |
| Building type | Strata buildings, commercial sites and homes with extensions or granny flats are scoped individually |

Do not start repairs yet. Early timber replacement can remove the feeding site, and the colony needs to be confirmed dead first. A builder should look at the bearers, studs and roof timbers.
Stations sit level with the soil and lock shut. They must not be moved, mulched over or paved across. If landscaping is coming, let us know first and we will relocate them.
Treated soil works best left undisturbed. New garden beds, pavers or a deck against the house can break the treated zone, so call us before those works.
AS 3660.2 generally recommends inspections at least every 12 months, and more often in high-risk areas. After treatment, regular inspections are what catch a new colony early.
Treatment removes the colony. These property conditions attract the next one, and most are cheap to fix.
If you are anywhere in 2000, or over toward Ultimo, you are inside the area we cover for inspections and treatment.
A timber pest inspection before exchange costs a fraction of what concealed damage costs afterwards, and it is the one point where you still have negotiating room on a Haymarket purchase.
Termites do not respect boundaries. A neglected yard or a demolition next door in Haymarket can push foraging onto your property, which is why we inspect fence lines and boundaries rather than only the house.

We work out where termites are coming from before choosing a method, rather than spraying what's visible.
You get written records of products used, areas treated and visits made, suitable for an insurer or a buyer's inspector.
Return visits are included rather than optional, which is why our baiting programs actually finish.

Get a Free QuoteTermite treatment starts from $179 and a full timber pest inspection from $159. Two things move it: how big the place is, and how far it has already spread. We work that out on the phone or on site and tell you the figure before anything starts in Haymarket. Treatments carry a 6-month warranty and we re-inspect annually.
Same-day attendance is usually available. We are about 1.5 km south-west of the city here, and Haymarket is covered by the Sydney CBD & Inner City team.
The building is the unit of the problem, not the apartment. Shared risers, bin rooms and wall cavities connect every lot, so termites established anywhere in the block can reach any flat in it.
Mostly apartments, so we treat your lot and, where the source is common property, give you something in writing to take to the building manager.
We do. A lot of our Haymarket work is rentals and strata, so the report, the products used and the areas treated are all recorded in writing for whoever needs them.
Yes. Everything we use is registered for the purpose and applied at label rates, and we place product where people and animals do not go. Tell us about pets, aquariums or anyone with a respiratory condition at booking.
Most of the time you can carry on as normal. If a particular area needs to be empty we will flag it when we arrive and it is rarely more than a couple of hours.
An hour to two hours covers most jobs. The size of the building and the extent of the problem are what change it.
Treatments carry a 6-month warranty and we re-inspect annually. A return visit within the warranty period costs you nothing.
Yes. As well as Haymarket we cover Ultimo, Chippendale, Surry Hills and Sydney on the same runs, so a job that crosses a boundary can be handled in one visit.
