Repairing the damage
Repairs come last. Until we confirm there is no activity, replacing timber can take away the bait the colony was feeding on. Structural timber - bearers, studs, roof members - needs a builder's assessment.

Dural is part of the Hills District, 26.6 km or so north-west of the GPO, and 2158 is a postcode we know well. We cover Dural on scheduled runs through the Hills District, and we will give you a firm time rather than a window.
Dural Golf Driving Range and Dural Nature Reserve are the parts of Dural we are called to most.
Our runs through Dural also take in Kenthurst, Glenhaven and Galston. Bush edges keep re-supplying the problem, which is why we treat the boundary rather than only the interior.
Around Dural the pattern is fairly consistent: properties where the fence line matters as much as the kitchen. Tell us which it is on the phone and we will come prepared for it.
Nasutitermes is common in gardens around Dural and far less destructive than Coptotermes. Knowing which you have is the difference between urgent and manageable.
Tap along the skirting, the architraves and the door frames. Sound timber gives a solid note; timber eaten from inside gives a light, drum-like one. It is the cheapest check a Dural owner can do.
Termites are after cellulose, which means skirtings, architraves, door jambs, built-in wardrobes, floorboards and the paper facing on plasterboard - not just the frame. Stored cardboard and books in a Dural garage are fair game too.
Photos from our own Sydney termite jobs. Most properties need one primary method, and some need two working together.

We install stations in the soil around the perimeter. They hold timber first; when termites start feeding on it we replace that with bait, and they take it home to the nest.

We come back on a schedule, open each station, record the feeding and refill the bait. Skipped visits are the single most common reason a baiting program does not finish.

Where we find them working in a frame or wall lining, bait goes on over the workings themselves and the colony begins feeding the same day.

Termiticide applied into a trench along the footings, or injected through drilled holes in paths and slabs, creating a treated zone in the soil around the building.

The subfloor is included on suspended floors - soil around the piers and along the walls - since that is the usual starting point for activity nobody saw.

The eaten timber is identified and recorded so a builder can quote. Hold the repairs until the colony is confirmed dead or you may remove what they are feeding on.
What you do in the first day or two affects how quickly the colony can be eliminated.
A can of spray takes out the ones you can see and sends the rest away from that spot - which removes the one place bait could have reached them.
Leave the mud tubing and the damaged timber as you found it. Once broken open it dries out and termites abandon it.
If you can, photograph what you found - tubing, damaged timber, flying insects - and tell us where. It shapes how we scope the inspection.
Have a look for a dripping tap, a hot water overflow or an air conditioner drain near where you found them. Damp soil is an attractant and has to be dealt with as well.
Subterranean termites feed continuously, so waiting costs timber. Same-day and next-day inspections are available right across Sydney.

Both are recognised approaches for existing buildings under AS 3660.2. The right choice depends on your property.
| Consideration | Baiting system | Chemical soil barrier | Combination |
|---|---|---|---|
| What it is for | Destroying the colony that is feeding on your building | Putting a treated zone in the soil, so termites moving through it are affected | Killing the colony that is there and guarding against the next |
| Method of install | Soil stations round the perimeter and bait onto the workings themselves | Trenching at the footings with drilling and injection through hard surfaces | Bait phase first, soil barrier second |
| Site disturbance | Almost none: no drilling through paths, no excavating garden beds | Small sealed drill holes in paving, and trenching where there are gardens | Spread across the staged visits |
| Looking after it | Stations get opened on a schedule and remain as a monitoring system | Label and site determine the service life; it can be re-applied later | Station monitoring continues for as long as the barrier is in service |
| Suits | Active termites, heavily paved sites, or where chemical use needs limiting | Homes with good access to soil around the footings | Heavy activity, repeat attacks or high-risk sites near bushland |

Termite treatment is a program over several visits, not a one-off spray.
We identify the termites, trace mud tubes and workings, and check the roof void, subfloor and garden for the likely nest and entry points.
You receive a fixed quote that names the method, the areas, the products and the return visits required.
We put bait onto the live workings or into in-ground stations, or treat the soil they travel through with termiticide.
Follow-up visits continue until activity has stopped, checking and topping up bait each time. Colony size and season set the timeline.
With the colony eliminated, the next question is protection - a soil barrier, continued station monitoring, or both together.
You receive a written record of what was applied and where, plus a recommended date for your next timber pest inspection.
Treatment starts from $179. Your fixed quote comes after we've seen the activity.
| Factor | Why it changes the price |
|---|---|
| Extent of the attack | Contained activity in a single frame costs far less than termites spread across the subfloor and wall framing |
| Method | Product volume and labour vary considerably between above-ground baiting, in-ground stations and a full barrier |
| Perimeter length & access | Long perimeters, low subfloor clearance and narrow side passages add time |
| Concrete to work through | Open soil can be trenched quickly; paths, patios and slabs have to be drilled and injected |
| Number of follow-ups | Return visits carry on until the colony is gone - larger colonies take more of them |
| What sort of property | A strata block, a commercial site or a house with an extension or granny flat is quoted individually |

Flush-fitting, locking lids. Don't shift them, don't cover them with mulch, don't pour concrete over them - and give us notice before landscaping so they can be moved properly.
A treated zone wants to be left alone. Building a garden bed, laying pavers or adding a deck against the house can breach it, so ring us before that work starts.
The standard, AS 3660.2, recommends an inspection at least annually and more frequently where risk is high. After a treatment, those inspections are how a new colony gets caught early.
Treatment removes the colony. These property conditions attract the next one, and most are cheap to fix.
If you are anywhere in 2158, or over toward Kenthurst, you are inside the area we cover for inspections and treatment.
Termites will nest inside a living tree. If there is a mature gum close to a Dural house, that is worth including in the inspection rather than assuming the risk is only in the soil.
Pre-purchase is when this matters most. A report naming active termites or past damage in a Dural house changes the price or the decision - but only if you have it before you sign.
NSW licence 5122967, with termite work planned around AS 3660.2 for existing buildings.
We locate where they are coming from first, then decide the method. Treating what you can see achieves very little.
You get written records of products used, areas treated and visits made, suitable for an insurer or a buyer's inspector.
The program includes its own follow-ups, so baiting is never left part-done.

We cover it on scheduled runs, so a day's notice gets you the best slot. Dural sits roughly 26.6 km north-west of the CBD, inside our Hills District run, so we book a time and keep to it.
Where bushland adjoins the block, the question is not how termites got in but how often. The perimeter is what decides that.
Houses on larger, often sloping blocks with bush on at least one boundary, so the perimeter and the fence line are central to the job.
Yes. We work in houses, units, strata blocks, rentals and commercial premises across Dural 2158, and we provide the written report agents and strata managers ask for.
It is, provided the instructions are followed. We will tell you what to keep clear of and for how long before we leave. Let us know about children, pets or fish tanks when you book.
You do not normally need to leave. Anything requiring an empty room is short, and you will know about it before the work starts.
For a standard Dural home, one to two hours. We would rather tell you it will take longer up front than rush it.
Treatments carry a 6-month warranty and we re-inspect annually. Call us if activity picks up again and we will arrange the return visit.
Yes. As well as Dural we cover Kenthurst, Glenhaven, Galston and Middle Dural on the same runs, so a job that crosses a boundary can be handled in one visit.
