Repairing the damage
Wait for confirmation that the colony is dead before repairing anything. Pull out the timber too soon and you remove what they were feeding on. Get a builder to assess the structural members - bearers, studs, roof timbers.

What we cover in Harris Park, and how quickly we can get there.
Our Greater Parramatta & Cumberland technicians cover Harris Park and the rest of 2150 as a matter of course - it is only about 19.1 km west of the city. We run Harris Park on a regular route, and same-day attendance is usually available.
A lot of our Harris Park jobs are in the streets around F S Garside Park and Collett Park, and we are out near Westfield Parramatta regularly enough that the technician usually knows the access before they arrive.
We work under the City of Parramatta and Cumberland area here, and Rosehill, Parramatta and Granville are all on the same route, which matters when termite problems are moving between adjoining properties. Terraces, semis and converted blocks share cavities and risers, which is why a single-unit treatment often does not hold on its own.
What we see in Harris Park is terraces and semis where the problem has come through a shared wall. Describing it accurately when you book saves a second visit.
Westfield Parramatta and Harris Park station are on the same round, which means every part of 2150 is within our area.
Your appointment is confirmed the day before with a real arrival time. Because Rosehill and Parramatta are covered on the same round, 2150 often has an earlier slot available.
They eat from the inside out and leave the paint film intact, so a Harris Park skirting board can look perfect and sound papery when you tap it. That hollow note is often the first real evidence.
No standard home policy in NSW covers termite damage. That is the single fact that changes how Harris Park owners think about an annual inspection - there is no safety net behind it, so the inspection is the safety net.
Alates look like flying ants. The giveaway is the wings: termite wings are all the same length and shed in piles, ant wings are not. Finding them in a Harris Park house means a mature colony nearby.
Photos from our own Sydney termite jobs. Most properties need one primary method, and some need two working together.

Stations go into the ground around the building with timber inside. Termites locate it, we switch the timber for bait, and the colony is eliminated from the inside out.

The stations get opened, read and refilled on a regular cycle. Let that slip and the program stalls - it is the usual explanation for one that never completed.

Where we find them working in a frame or wall lining, bait goes on over the workings themselves and the colony begins feeding the same day.

Termiticide placed into the soil around the building - trenched where there is soil, injected through drilled holes where there is concrete - forming a treated zone termites have to cross.

Suspended floors get the subfloor done too: the soil at the piers and along the walls, because that is where concealed attacks most often begin.

We mark up where the timber has gone so a builder can assess structural work - scheduled after, not before, the colony is confirmed eliminated.
What you do in the first day or two affects how quickly the colony can be eliminated.
Resist the spray can. You will kill a few workers and move the rest somewhere you cannot see, leaving nothing to bait.
Don't pull the workings apart. Exposed tubes dry and the colony retreats, which costs time on the treatment.
Take pictures of anything you have seen and remember where. It tells us what to bring and where to start.
Moisture is usually part of the story: a leaking tap, the hot water overflow, the air conditioner condensate line. Damp soil pulls termites in, so it needs fixing too.
Every day of delay is more timber gone. Active termite inspections are available same or next day anywhere in Sydney.
If you are in a unit or townhouse, activity in your lot usually touches common property - tell the strata manager early.

Both are recognised approaches for existing buildings under AS 3660.2. The right choice depends on your property.
| Consideration | Baiting system | Chemical soil barrier | Combination |
|---|---|---|---|
| What it achieves | The colony feeding on the house is eliminated | Termites crossing the treated soil around the building are affected | Clears the current attack and defends against the following one |
| What the work involves | Setting stations into the soil around the building and baiting active workings directly | Trenching the footings and injecting through drilled holes in paths and slabs | The bait goes in first; the soil treatment follows once elimination is confirmed |
| Site disturbance | Almost none: no drilling through paths, no excavating garden beds | Small sealed drill holes in paving, and trenching where there are gardens | Spread across the staged visits |
| Upkeep | Stations checked on a regular schedule and kept as monitoring | Service life depends on the product label and site; can be re-applied | Station checks continue while the barrier works |
| Right for | Current activity, heavily paved blocks, or where chemical use needs limiting | Homes with good soil access around the footings | Heavy or repeated activity, and high-risk properties close to bush |

Termite treatment is a program over several visits, not a one-off spray.
We confirm which termite it is and how far it has gone, following the tubing and checking roof void, subfloor and garden for the nest.
Everything goes in writing before we start - method, treatment areas, products and the follow-up schedule - at a fixed price.
The active colony is treated either by baiting - directly on the workings or via in-ground stations - or by applying termiticide to the soil on their route.
Return visits carry on until there is no activity left, with bait checked and refilled at each. The duration comes down to colony size and season.
After elimination we advise on protection: a chemical soil barrier, ongoing monitoring through the stations, or a combination of the two.
You get the paperwork - what went where - along with when the next timber pest inspection is due.
Treatment starts from $179. Your fixed quote comes after we've seen the activity.
| Factor | Why it changes the price |
|---|---|
| Location of the activity | Termites confined to one architrave take far less work than activity running through a subfloor and the wall framing |
| The approach taken | Bait above ground, stations in the ground and a complete soil barrier are not comparable on product or labour |
| Perimeter length & access | Long perimeters, low subfloor clearance and narrow side passages add time |
| Concrete & paving | Paths, patios and garage slabs that must be drilled and injected take longer than open soil |
| How many visits | Baiting continues until elimination, so the colony's size decides how many return visits are needed |
| Kind of property | Strata, commercial and extended homes - including granny flats - are individually scoped |

You will have in-ground stations sitting flush with locking lids. Keep them clear of mulch and concrete, leave them in place, and call before landscaping so we can relocate them.
Treated soil works best left undisturbed. New garden beds, pavers or a deck against the house can break the treated zone, so call us before those works.
Inspections at least every 12 months is the AS 3660.2 recommendation, with shorter intervals in high-risk areas. Post-treatment, that is what finds the next colony while it is small.
Treatment removes the colony. These property conditions attract the next one, and most are cheap to fix.
Our Harris Park work runs from Westfield Parramatta out through the back streets and across to the Rosehill boundary. Same price, same technicians.
Some species are destructive, some barely touch sound timber. We identify from the soldiers in the workings, because treating a Harris Park home for the wrong one wastes the visit.
Termites will nest inside a living tree. If there is a mature gum close to a Harris Park house, that is worth including in the inspection rather than assuming the risk is only in the soil.

The method is chosen after we know where the colony is - not by spraying whatever is in sight.
A documented job: what was used, where, and when we returned - for your files, your insurer or whoever buys the place.
Baiting only works if someone comes back, so the return visits are built into the program from the start.

Most of this area is terrace, semi and converted block, and those share more than people realise - cavities, roof spaces, drainage. termites use all of it.
Older joined housing. The treatment takes account of shared walls, continuous sub-floors and roof voids that run between properties.
We do all of those. A good share of the Harris Park jobs we run are tenanted or strata properties, so the written record comes as standard.
It is, applied properly. We put product into cracks, voids and stations rather than across open surfaces, and we will tell you what to stay off and for how long before we leave.
Usually not. Most termite control work is done with you there, and anything that needs the room vacated is for a short period we will tell you about beforehand.
Between one and two hours covers the majority of jobs. We do not book so tightly that a technician has to cut a job short.
Treatments carry a 6-month warranty and we re-inspect annually. So if they turn up again within the warranty, ring us and we will attend.
We cover the whole of Harris Park, from the streets around Westfield Parramatta out to the suburb boundary and on into Rosehill.
